First time visiting Oklahoma City, so I do what I always do when visiting a new place I Googled Black Owned Book stores and found Nappy Roots Books. I was excited to go and see how it looked and was a bit disheartened. This store needs support! The lady that helped was very nice and knowledgeable I did end up buying a book and will go again next time I'm in town. But I highly encourage the people of Oklahoma to show love and go buy things and also people visiting the city of Oklahoma to do the same, let's prop this historic business up!

Awesome store, full of great leftist and historical literature! Camille is super nice and is happy to help you around the store. Black Lives Matter shirts and other shirts are available for sale here as well.

I can't believe no one has reviewed this awesome bookstore yet! They have STORYHOUR - and sure it's for kids, but grown-ups can sit in and listen, too. They have BOOKS and VIDEOS for affordable prices! It is pretty, with teal walls and wood tile floors and pretty bookshelves and big windows. They have discussions and events and BOOKS - did I say they have BOOKS?They are local. Ms. Camille is amazing. Make the effort to find them in their little corner - they are right next to Pumpkin's Barber shop - facing south. Find them, love them!

Loved their book selection and was notified about their kite flying activities for children to bring awareness and was also given an amazing civil rights calendar.

I went to Commonplace Books earlier in the day, but it gave me a weird feeling. Everything felt too new, organized, and pristine (and not to mention, expensive). I prefer the kind of book stores with old and used books, and where books are stacked higher than the average human height.I found Nappy Roots Books to be a much better experience. It is a bit small, but there is still a good amount and good variety of books, with an emphasis on books about and by African Americans. There is also some seating if you are inclined to sit down with a book. The owner, Camille, is very kind. She will chat with customers but also gives quieter people space to browse as they please. She asked me how I found out about the store, and I told her I saw it on Yelp, with one review. So here I am, leaving my own review, hoping it gets someone else to visit.

Went to Nappy Roots Books for the fist time several weeks ago to purchase a BLM shirt. I didn't order online because I wanted support local business. The staff was extremely helpful and welcoming. I will definitely be going back. Great atmosphere and friendly people.
