Matachines Authentic Mexican Food

Man, I really wanted to love this place..Reviews below were good, I was trusting in this! Sadly - service was SLOW, as they only had 1 guy on the floor and 1 cook. **understand it's tough, but 45+ minutes for 3 tacos is too much with work lunch hours******NO LUNCH MENU - full price all day***Salsa & chips, yep they are good - **BUT THEY CHARGE YOU AUTOMATICALLY**3.99 - it's not complimentary like us OKLA folks know well.Food was okay, but sadly not enough to return or tell my people to come here.3/10 total review. :/

We liked everything we ordered. I love their chips & guacamole. Great service & I liked their Mexican decorations. She said they have been open 7-8 years. This was our first visit & we will be back.

I love Matachines. Although I don't visit too often it's one of my favs and never disappoints. I do wish they were open later though. I love that the chips are made fresh so when you get them they're still warm. I usually get tacos but the last time I went I tried the pasole verde as I had heard really good things about it. They were right, it was delicious!! I was so full but I couldn't stop eating it! Haha I also enjoyed myself a Mexican Coke as that's the only type I'll drink when it comes to coke. I've also always loved the authentic dining plates and the decor. I definitely recommend trying it out and keeping this small local restaurant in business. And the salsa is phenomenal as well!!!!

We have visited this restaurant many times. The one thing that I loved right from the beginning was their made in house fresh flour chips & their amazing salsa!!! Endless. The best!!!! Then recently I tried their green chili posole.... And let me just tell you how amazingly delicious it is!!! Wow!!! I always get the large b/c who doesn't live leftovers!? It's that good! I get two delicious meals out of it!!! It's made with chicken not pork. The only thing that could make it better is if they had cabbage to go with it! My husband usually gets street tacos which he says are very gf! The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is due to the slowness of the wait staff. When there is only two tables with customers you shouldn't have to walk up to the counter for refills etc. But the food is worth going back for over & over & over again! Sorry I forgot to get pictures of the chips & salsa.

We had a great first visit. Our server was lovely and took good care of us. There are complimentary chips, salsa, and queso. The salsa was excellent. For the queso, it tasted like cheap nacho cheese, so I probably wouldn't eat it again. My beef enchilada with red sauce was delicious. The ground beef was chunks of sirloin, and it had a nice charred to it. Good rice and beans, but the rice was soggy. Overall still one of the best Mexican food I had recently.

Wow, can we say AUTHENTIC!!! FINALLY!!! Thank you! This is so good. The chips are crisp, fresh, not greasy. The food is great portion flavorful and did I mention AUTHENTIC!!! Not Tex Mex!! Its the real deal! ORALE! This is my new go to. Staff is incredible. Beautiful tables and chairs. Only disappointment is not open earlier... lol you guys are fantastic!! Gracias!!

This place is super clean! Absolutely delicious. Has authentic music playing. We try to stop by anytime we are in the area. They are closed on Mondays. Chips and salsa are free. The service is wonderful because the workers are very kind.

A friend recommended Matachines because she loves their carnitas tacos. On my first visit, I tried her recommended tacos and loved them. I have to drive a distance to eat there but I have enjoyed making that happen. My wife shares my enthusiasm after I shared my new secret place. Should be easier to go more often now. I like their smoky table salsa served with their home made chips. Both the red and green taco sauces are very tasty.

I have only gotten carry out tacos here before, but we decided to come in and stay for dinner. I'm so glad we did. Their fresh chips and salsa are easily the best in Edmond. I had pozole and my wife had a torta. Both were great, but the pozole was next level. I will come get it anytime it's cold or I'm under the weather. They only had one server, but he worked his butt off. The place never got really busy, but it should be full every night. We will be back.

The service is fast and very attentive! The food is excellent! I got the barbacoa street tacos and I would highly suggest!
