I would consider myself adventurous but I may have gone too far with this place. I had to have a lot of help ordering and used Google quite a bit as well to try and figure out what the heck my options were. The flavors of the soup I got was really really good but I didn't like the proteins or the thing you're supposed to eat it with. Next time I'll go a little "safer".

Decided to stop by for some Nigerian food. Parking is not a problem so Thats good, they also have music playing in the background, which makes this place a great place to come with a group of friends and enjoy. It's connected to a shop where you can shop while waiting for your food. I ordered the Giz dodo platter, and beans and plantain. I was not expecting it to be as good as it was, but the food was definitely amazing. I will definitely be back next time I am on Oklahoma. 4 stars cause it's lowkey over priced , but good but still over priced.

As much as I love their food! I get so upset about how small their soup portion is. There's no reason we're paying $22 on this app for a small scope of soup. It's literally not enough soup for the two pounded yams they give you.

MAMA Z'S RESTAURANTNow, usually I don't do dis buttttttt... I GOT TIMMME TUHDAY!Y'all listen...This is a WHOLE NOVEL but it's worth the read! Anybody that KNOWS me, knows I'm a foodie. I've tried many restaurants in OKC and surrounding cities and I do a little cooking myself. A couple people told me I should try mama Z's. At this point, I can only gather that these couple of people must hate me. In any event, I decided to try it today. I walk in, it stinks(like burnt food) and nobody is there to assist me. After a couple minutes, this young girl (maybe 25) comes sliding from the back in slow motion, Nigerian with South Central LA (my home town) attitude. I'm flipping through the menu and then ask Sis "what's popular here". I explained I'd never been. Nigerian Qualantè (my African American name for her) looked at me all exasperated as if she was doing me some huge favor, then pointed at "chicken, beef or fish" on the menu"...cue R Kelley ..."She looked at me, I looked at her, she looked at me, I looked at HEEERRRR!"Fighting my instinct to skip on up outta thereand after much contemplation, I finally decided on stewed chicken, Jolaf rice and plantain. Qualantè took my card, ran it, said nothing, offered no receipt(I asked how much, $16 something), huffed (probably rolled her eyes too!) and disappeared to the back where, I can only deduce "the magic" happens". A short while later, Qualantè reappeared and shoved my food towards me at the counter where I was waiting. I quickly looked over it then took the short drive home. Listen, I DID NOT order deep fried goose tenderloins over burnt rice. NO MA'AM! That impossible chicken was drier than my grandson's elbows! And baybay, them elbows be DRY!Long story longer, I got home, opened the container, took a bite and was like HAYOL NAWL, TO THE NAW NAW NAW!!!! Derrick (the hubby) was like "TAKE THAT MESS BACK!!! I told him, "you must want me to get into a fight, huh?" Cause I ALREADY KNEW!I took it back though. Qualantè was acting like she wanted ALL THE SMOKE! She said that's just the way they cook chicken and she wouldn't give a refund. THIS GIRL WAS TRYING TO BRING ME OUTTA RETIREMENT! JESUS! I promise I've changed! After explaining that no chicken ANYWHERE on any continent at any time is cooked like that on purpose and that the food wasn't fit for human consumption, after tearing the hippopotamus meat in pieces right in front of her to SHOW HER, our dear Qualantè conceded defeat and refunded my money. (Insert C-walk here)As I was gathering my things to leave, somebody uncle came floating from the back in Old Testament sandals, YELLING, "WHAT THEE PROBLEM?! WHAT THEE PROBLEM!!! Soo, I took a moment to indulge him .Sir, I did NOT order freeze dried giraffe hide over burnt lemon grass, you and that dish can go straight to hell! I didn't really say that...I DID SAY, HOWEVER, after him yelling and pointing and saying I didn't deserve a refund is..."This looks and tastes like dog food! It's dry, overcooked and disgusting". I really don't know what dog food tastes like, though, it's probably better than that BBQ warthog they gave me. I don't think he appreciated my assessment as he continued to yell and follow me out.Listen, IF that silverback, IF that ex gangster, IF that zip dayum fool I call husband had been there...Lord, y'all pray for the man of Gawd! He ain't civilized like his wife! But had he been there, wasn't no more sauteed tree bark gone be sold TODAY! Wun't finsta be no mo broiled turtle shells and marinated sea horse sold NO MO THIS DAY. I'm TRINE to tell y'all what I KNOW! Not what I heard. The moral of the story is, the customer service at Mama Z's is only rivaled by those twice grilled monkey knuckles they serve there. Do Yourself a favor and just DON'T.

Ate here this past Saturday at noon as my girls were begging to try this type of cuisine. It was empty. We were the only people in the restaurant, although a couple takeout orders came to get their food while we were there. We ordered 2 meat pies but never got them. I was not very hungry so I ordered the Suya appetizer and it was ok. The plantains were nice and not overly sweetened as some places do with extra sugar. The meat was rather bland but good when combined with the plantain. One daughter got the Egusi and was disappointed that it was not spicy. She liked it but I thought it was bland. She said she understands it is traditionally supposed to be spicy. The other daughter got the Jollof rice with chicken. We all thought the chicken was very tasty and the rice was tasty and had a nice kick. It was not bad but I just was not impressed. Wish I had been able to try the meat pie but since we never saw our server after he brought the food we just had them take it off the ticket at the end.

You all should better go to a culinary school to improve in your cooking. Your food, is too expensive and tasteless. You all use too much palm oil for the stew and Jollof rice. You all need help.
