Los Vaqueros

It's been a while since I was here. The prices have skyrocketed compared to other Mexican spots in the area. Ordered the John's special which is a lot of good but planning on dinner with it as well. Fernando is still a server and the one I would always ask for. Service was quite slow or at least for me. I watched others order after me and get their food before me. The set up is outstanding as is the green hot sauce. Flavors were spot on today. Wasn't very many people there and had Hispanic music playing so the ambiance was good. Just way too much for lunch.

Fast and friendly service. Clean restaurant and men's restroom. Food is great. Mexican music is great. Hard working employees. Reasonable prices, good menu selection. My favorite Mexican restaurant in town.

We were passing through OKC and Los Vaqueros was down the road from the hotel. Reviews sounded promising and the menu was acceptable. I ordered the guiso plate, pork with green sauce on the recommendation of the lady taking my order. My wife got the Lalo Special. We both had to pinch ourselves as we were eating. Had we been this deprived of Mexican food while we were on the road, or was this one of the best meals we've had in a while? We determined it was the best in a while.Let's start with how our to go order worked out. I walked in to order. It took them a little over 10 minutes to get our meal made. It was the cheapest meal we had in a week. The bag was as hot as lava and all I could think about was how the styrofoam must be disintegrating. Wrong! They packed it in foil trays that were still smoking hot when we got back to the hotel. Our order came with chips, a cup of salsa (that was fantastic), and a cup of queso (that was unremarkable, but thoughtful and we still enjoyed it). They were also generous with the tortillas.The green sauce for the pork guiso was perfectly delicious. Tart and spicy, I almost had to lick the pan. My wife shared some of her chicken and enchilada with me. The enchilada cheese was the right amount of firm and flavored. The servings were very generous.

First visiting this location; generally frequent the Mustang location. The lady at the front counter that took my order was sooo nice and helpful from start to finish. The to-go order I placed was ready very quickly as well. Will return.

For Tex Mex, this place is my favorite. Every time I come here the food and service are great and consistent. They have my absolute favorite version of the chili relleno. The batter stays crunchy even after being cooked and topped with queso. There are options for cheese, chicken, or steak inside. I typically get chicken but I don't think you can go wrong with any option. It's flavor packed.

Los Vaqueros will always be the best mom and pop Mexican restaurant. The food is amazing, I recently branched out from my norm and tried the tortilla soup and it did not disappoint! It always feels like family in Los V's! Oh and the micheladas?! Just order one and thank me later.

The food was excellent. I had the chicken El compadre. This is a dish with a choice of meat, cheese, grilled onions and peppers. The Chino beans are so good! If you have never had them replace the refried beans for Chinos. Chips, salsa and queso are complimentary. They offer other sauces and fried onions and peppers, vegetable relish.Complementary sopapilla also. Service is always good and this place is so clean.

Food was great, nice and hot and came out quickly, drinks never went empty and left with full bellies. Highly recommend for great Tex mex with an authentic feel

Their food was terrible, restaurant was filthy, and the help were dressed sloppy, plus we even had a helping of Covid, we won't be back !

Service was very good. Food was hot but just okay. They do not serve margaritas. No ambiance.
