Since it is so close to where I live, this outdoor space is frequented by my family. There are several activities that you can do here. There is a nice paved bicycle and walking path on the east side of the river. If cycling, you can start here and there is a path that will take you to Stinchcomb and even to Lake Hefner to the north. If you follow the bicycle path to the south you can ride all the way to downtown OKC (is they've reopened the river trails...). The negative: the paved path does not go completely around the lake. To make a loop around the lake you have to be on the road with cars and this is dangerous to runners and cyclists. If you plane to make a loop, do so carefully and watch out for drivers who do not pay attention! The east side of the lake has the most activities. On the northeast section, you can rent kayaks or SUPs. On the southeast, you can play with your kids on the playground or walk across the dam. There are benches facing the lake to relax and observe or bring your fishing gear and fish. On the west side of the lake you will find Route 66 park, which now includes a skate park and newly constructed baseball fields.

I had my first kayaking experience here over spring break. The staff is fantastic and very caring. This was a bucket list thing for me, and as a bigger girl I was nervous as hell. The kid who helped me up out of my boat was so kind and non-judgemental. And you cannot go wrong with their half off deal! I would be on the water every day now if I could.
