JD Steakout

No frills diner serving Mexican, burgers and a kids menu. Authentic and very tasty. No frills but the meal was great and the beer was ice cold served with a cold mug. Right on the Hwy and convenient.

What a pleasant surprise JD's Steakout was!!!Mexican Stir fry (Beef ) is what I ordered. You can also get it with chicken or a combo of both. Delicious!!!! (See photo)My husband had the Patty Melt and said he would come back again, just for that. The meat quality was great, and cooked to perfection! Friendly and attentive staff.

This place needs help with their Mexican dishes. I really wanted to enjoy my smothered chicken burrito but nothing was flavored and the sauce on top was more of a gravy consistency . My guy got the Mexican stir fry. The veggies tasted nasty and the rice had a funky smell. A big no from me.

Ok so I elected to stop here for the family to get a break out of the car, as we had been on the road for a while. It says Steakhouse, and I mean, come on, we're in Texas. Can't NOT try a steakhouse. So after looking over the menu. I was confused. What is this place? Is it Mexican? Is it a steakhouse? Usually menus that are all over the place, is a sign that the food will not be good. But oh no, don't you think that. This was the best plate of Mexican good I ever put in my mouth. It's the verde chicken enchiladas, and they were fantastic. I was so impressed. You won't come here for the atmosphere, but the service and food are legit!

The bathroom was dirty, the tea wasn't fresh, the bacon was chewy and old. Not recommended!

Stopped here when our original location was closed. Food was edible but not good. We ordered a hamburger steak and a grilled chicken plate with House salads and Loaded Bake Potatoes. The steak plate was missing the sautéed mushrooms and the size was not too impressive. The Chicken breast was missing the accompanying rice and it seemed to have been broiled in the same surface as their Tilapia and fish dishes, as it had a distinct fishy taste. As for the loaded bake potatoes, they were a decent size but unfortunately dry. It seemed comical that they were loaded with dry bacon bits and not real bacon, and accompanied with prepackaged butter and sour cream. The service was better than the food... Friendly and fast but not enough to make us want to stick around for dessert.Pricing is fair and the restaurant itself is clean and offers smoking and non-smoking areas (separated by a half wall partition).JD's is okay if there's nothing else open, but I wouldn't make it a stop on my roadtrip.

Traveling back to Dallas after a week in CO and were looking for a good spot to eat that wasn't fast food. Trip Advisor listed JD Steakhouse with good reviews. It is a no frills spot but offers good food and a nice waitstaff. Mexican dishes and steaks are their main offerings along with hamburgers and chicken strips. We had steaks and baked potatoes that were reasonably priced at $12 a piece and included a salad. Our waitress was attentive and friendly as were the other employees. A nice experience and we'd recommend it to anyone!Mangia!H & M

Stopped on our way from Colorado back home to Florida. Originally from Texas so it was great to get some going ole Texas comfort food served hot and plentiful. Staff was super friendly.

I am 61 yrs old and was just served by far the worst chicken fried steak I have ever had. Do not eat here!!!

They are selling shirts that state "I hung out in Clarendon - last legal hanging the Texas Panhandle". It looks like it's at Mexican American on the shirt. This is very insensitive that are selling this shirt. I did not realize this until I ordered my food; otherwise I would have walked out!!
