Tried Janice's as a traveler looking for something different and local. Bottom line, I had higher hopes for this place. The restaurant doesn't look like much.... It's definitely nothing fancy, but it isn't supposed to be. Our server was friendly and prompt, and our food came out quickly. I would have loved to give them 4 or even five stars, but they just didn't make it.Pluses... good chicken fried steak, good mashed potatoes, good fried okra, offering entrees with two sides AND a salad, offering liver and onions on the menu. Minuses.... Their Mac and cheese was out of a box. It was clearly Kraft Macaroni and Cheese (see my photo) and that doesn't count as "home cooking". The pinto beans they served me weren't even lukewarm. And the liver I was so impressed to see on the menu was small and thin. So disappointing......

We were road tripping and wanted a home-cooked breakfast. We felt lucky to find Janices. We saw tables of regulars when we walked in. The dining room was very clean and Janice runs the show! She keeps all the balls in the air! Very friendly and on the ball. I had French toast and my husband had a homestyle bacon and eggs breakfast. Everything was delicious and freshly prepared. And reasonable! Janice takes care of her customers!

This was definitely different! On the road for business and we only choose local when travelling - no chain restaurants! We decided on Janice's - which is pretty local. Small menu but seemed pretty decent. I had burgers twice the previous week so I opted for something different. I choose the Club Sandwich on grilled sourdough w/freedom fries. After it was brought to the table I was scratching my head because that was the most unusual Club Sandwich I have ever seen!Typically, a club would have lettuce, tomato, turkey, ham & bacon. Mine not so much I had multiple slices of turkey, bacon, grilled onions, add a slice of white cheese,I'm assuming provolone. Now don't get me wrong I ate it all and it was okay. Just wasn't what I had expected. My business partner opted for the burger and looking at the plates passing by I should have ordered the burger! He said it was very good! If I have a return visit I'll try the burger!I will say the wait staff was exceptional and we're moving the entire time. Much thanks to Cheryl!!

I went in with a party of 11. We were seated in the backroom, which was great since it was quiet in a very busy restaurant. I ordered two biscuits with regular gravy and coffee. The coffee was great, and the waitresses came around with the coffee carafe often. Our waitress was decent, although around the table meals were coming out at all different times. There was also a few parts of the orders that didn't come out for several minutes after. No big deal, but with 5 kids you really want to make sure they don't have to wait.I'm not sure if I visited on an off-day (Sunday) or what, but my biscuits and gravy wasn't great. First, I was really hoping for homemade biscuits. These weren't. I assume they came in a refrigerated or frozen white tray with 12 on each tray...like so many restaurants use and I served in restaurants many years ago. When you make your own biscuits and have had homemade biscuits more times than I could ever count, you just know. The gravy wasn't bad, but it wasn't amazing. The pepper was clumped together, and I was praying it was in fact pepper, eek. I ate almost half of it and decided I was done.I ended up getting sick and had to cancel my flight to visit a friend. My stomach felt like fire, and it's not 100% today as I write this. I won't go into graphic detail, but something isn't right with my digestive tract now. The rest of the members of my party had no complaints around the table but also no "wow". Everyone had been here before except me, and I basically felt like this was a greasy spoon diner that locals love and know. Maybe I would've been better off with an omelet or French toast.

Ms. Janice is there working in the trenches greeting and serving customers and making sure everything is grand! She's so warm and friendly and the food is all hand breaded, freshly cooked, and flavorful. The bacon and hashbrowns were crispy perfection!

The food was as you'd expect from a country diner. It wasn't as greasy as I've had at other places. Our waitress was Miss Speedy Gonzalez though and was a hustler for sure! She was quick and on the ball with the orders. The food came out hot. You can tell there were a lot of regulars there too this morning. We went for breakfast but it's open through dinner. I'd eat here again for some good hometown food.

We found this restaurant on yelp and we're on our way through town so we decided to stop. Am so glad we did! Janice was holding down the whole restaurant her self and gave great service. The food was early good - I had the no meat with biscuits and gravy (sausage gravy) and my husband had chicken fried steak. The portion was perfect and the price was right on. If you are passing through you should definitely stop in.

Loved it! Enthusiastically greeted the moment we walked in. Kind of a diner feel, only larger. My grilled chicken salad was delicious - with a biscuit as a side (also good). My husband's veggie scramble was hearty and tasty. Too full for dessert, although we were tempted by the homemade pies. Bill was $25. A good place obviously run by dedicated, hardworking people. If we lived nearby, we'd be regulars - which there were many!
