Janice's Barbeque Pit

Very good food every time we go. A little pricey but that's what you pay for good BBQ !! Good service also!! And clean small town atmosphere

This place has been open for a long time, and I've always been curious as to how it was. I recently passed thru and decided it was time to stop. I ordered a combo plate which was smoked sausage, sliced brisket and had 2 good sized ribs with it. For sides, it came with beans and coleslaw. Service was good, the wait staff was polite, and the food made it to the table in short time. First thing i ate was my sides. Starting with the beans, they were served hot, but had nothing in them besides just beans. No chopped onions, peppers...not even any salt that I could taste. But, I doctored em up with some hot sauce and they were tasty enough. Next up was the coleslaw. It was diced pretty fine, was very sweet, and reminded me a lot of KFC slaw, so if you like that, you'll like this. The meat. This is kinda where it goes downhill for me. When I walk into a bbq restaurant, I wanna smell smoked meat. Maybe the meat is smoked off sight? Not sure. But then when I started in on the meat, the smokey flavor was so faint, it was hard to tell if these ribs, sausage and brisket had spent any time at all in a smoker. Some people would say this meat was probably boiled, and then finished up in a smoker, but I won't say that for sure. I just know that the meat was kinda bland. I did taste some of my wife's catfish however, and it was very good, aside from needing a little hot sauce. I'd go back for the catfish and I'd like to try one of their Indian tacos sometime, but i probably won't try the bbq again.

I had dinner there with my mom,her bf, my sister had a sandwich called the cheese pit which was a grilled cheese stuffed with a chopped beef with fries and she had the country fried steak baked potatoe green beans and hush pupppies that had jalapeños in them she said it was all really good it was more than she could eat!!! My mom had the Indian taco it was huge but she said that it was good. Almost like a taco salad with a flat bread. He had a hamburger steak with white gravy and mashed potatoes with gravy he said that it was good. Will definitely be eating there again next time we are in the area.

The Tuesday Pork Chop plate is to die for. Obviously the best home cooked meal I've had in a very long time.It's worth the drive to hit this place.

Long ways from home but we meet family there every year for Saturday before Memorial Day. Everyone orders Indian tacos. They are awesome.

The good:Catfish was decent Ribs were decent Waitress was very awesome. The bad:Sliced pork and beef was terrible, tasted like dish soap.The fried pie was fried in the catfish grease!!! GROSS!!! All in all we will not return here and wish that we just made a quick stop at sonic..

The staff at Janice's is always very friendly, locals that remember you and remember your orders. Stratford has very limited options so it's nice that Janice's seems to always be open. It's by no means a Michelin star restaurant but it's good people and some decent bbq.

The food is hearty and filling. Home cooked meal with great sides.Always something tasty on the daily specials. Several delicious desserts as well.

Stopped in on a yelp recommendation. We had the Indian Tacos, they were great! Don't miss the peach fried pies for dessert .

I went to this local place in Oklahoma back in the winter of 2021. This restaurant is hidden gem. Staff are awesome. The signature burger "The Pitmaster" is single handedly the best burger I have ever had. PERIOD. Their home made ranch is spectacular. Everything about this establishment is great. 5/5 in my book
