We didn't actually visit the chapel, just drove by it. We came here to see the historic grounds and learn a bit about this fort and Oklahoma history. The entire property is massive and includes an old cemetery where some prisoners of war are buried from WW2. Some of the buildings are well maintained and some are in need of repair. The volunteer at the visitor center explained the various stages of renovation that the buildings and grounds were in at the time. It's free admission but donations are accepted. It's something to see if you are in El Reno, OK, alongside part of historic Route 66!

Yet another stop on our Route 66 trip west from OKC. This was a free stop that is great even for families. (Donations are welcome) We loved seeing the old buildings that were onsite. I learned more in the trip to this site than I did in a semester of Oklahoma History! There were neat buildings, a beautiful church, and an amazing cemetery for WWII prisoners of war. I had no idea this type of history was available first hand in Oklahoma! They also have pretty neat ghost tours to keep watching for!Historic Fort Reno, Inc., is a non profit organization dedicated to preservation and use of the historical and cultural resources of Fort Reno. Its mission is to secure funding for restoration of historic structures, Visitor Center operations and activies, educate the public through historical interpretation, and establish those partnerships necessary for the long-term stability of the organization.

This is the perfect place for a wedding! We had the wedding of our dreams last year at the chapel! Everyone loved the area and they were able to look around at the beautiful sights for a bit. The history is amazing and the upkeep of the buildings & property are fantastic. Whether you are going for a day trip or you are looking for a wedding venue, check out Fort Reno. The great staff can tell you all about it!
