This lil meat market and deli is a hidden treasure. It's located smack dab in the middle of a residential neighborhood and is a great asset to the community. It reminds me of my childhood when I'd frequent the area market for my sitter and sometimes for my own sweet tooth. What great memories of those fun days gone by.After looking up meat markets in the area, Hardesty was the first to pop up so off I went...ready to check it out. Upon entering the heavy door immediately that 'little giddy girl feeling' from my childhood days came rushing over me. It took me back to the days I walked to my local market as a child for many of the same goods and I felt right at home! There was a particularly-hard-to-find-deli meat that I was in search of which they didn't quite have, but a suitable substitute was found. The market was clean and the employees (and even customers) were so, so hospitable and friendly. The gentleman that waited on me was kind/patient and graciously gave me sample after sample of not-so-common deli meat/cheese to explore. It was fun taste-testing foods that I hadn't heard of or eaten before. I ended up purchasing much more than I intended to, but was extremely pleased with each item. The market also has fresh vegetables, homemade preserves, desserts, pickled goods, okra, sauces and more. What a delight! This is now my new meat market/deli...home away from home.Thank you HARDESTY for being such a bright spot in the community and a wonderful place to travel for my meat/deli needs. You are well worth the miles from my home state to yours. You rock!

What a great meat market. I needed some beef fat for tallow and they did not disappoint. Everything is super clean. The meat selection looks great and when in season they sell fruits and veggies. Prices are great. Service was incredible.

Just moved to town. Very very nice people that work there. They were helpful and patient. Ground pork is fresh and tasty! I'm lucky to have found this spot!

This is the absolute best place to get meat. The staff is wonderful and extremely knowledgeable. I've been coming to Hardesty Grocery since I was a little girl and everyone knows this is the place to go if you want great quality and wonderful service. Also, their lunches can't be beat!

This is an old time meat market, all the meat is fresh. If you want a special cut Grady will cut it to your liking. Have known the family and done business with them for over thirty years. If your looking for some trendy upscale yuppy establish forget it, this is an old time meat market. Great meats and good people. Pure quality.

I move to this area the first of this month, and found this wonderful Meat Market inside of Hardesty Grocery, just four miles from home. Give it a try they will cut meat just the way you ask them. Always friendlyJudy

Best place to buy meat in Oklahoma, perhaps the entire World... A real, honest-to-god butcher shop since 1932 where the meat is laid out behind a glass counter and you pick out what you want & they wrap it up in white paper on the spot. Nothing is ever frozen, prepackaged or anything but fresh. Their cuts of beef are better than Omaha.Steaks. They make their own sausage. Incredible deli meat selection --- garlic bologna, cajun turkey, olive loaf, ham & cheese loaf, several kinds of ham, even head cheese --- and they run it through the slicer while you wait. They'll make you a sandwich if you want, or Monday through Friday you can get whatever hot lunch item they're offering that particular day. The chicken and dumplings are great, but so are the chili dogs (and you get to choose between regular weenies, hot links or polish sausages.) Absolutely the friendliest & finest down home customer service anywhere! Got a special request? No problem... Want a a half pound of ground pork? They'll run some through through the grinder for you... Need a snack tray for a party? They'll fix you up one made to order... You can get basic grocery staples and a little produce there too. (Sometimes they have home grown tomatoes and okra in season.) People, this is the real deal: nothing pretentious or trendy, just an authentic eighty year-old country grocery store run by folks who care about quality and service. Frank, the owner, says he has to stay in business because he can't stand the thought of his customers having to buy meat from Wal-Mart. Thank God there are still some people around like Frank...

Looking for a grocery store in Shawnee and ran across the other review for Hardesty, so we had to go. It was just as described, and we met Frank working the till. GREAT butcher counter and produce (a decent selection and good prices). Seems he has had a bit of hard luck with distributors and he refuses to go with one co-op and only being allowed to sell their products, so the shelves were a little bare of other goods. He assured us that he only selects the best meat, and it shows. I would give my money to this man over Walmart any day, and looking at the other reviews for grocery stores in the area, there wasn't much to go on! Frank and Hardesty market are as good as it gets. I even told him about the review which brought me there, and he was quite pleased. Another customer in the store with an armful of white paper packages from the meat counter completely agreed as she overheard me talking to Frank. If you live near here or are passing through and need meats and produce for your RV, make sure you stop. The roads to get you there are big rig friendly, and you can park in the casino across the street. A++++++++ for Frank.
