Flat Tide

Businesses like Flat Tide make me proud to be an Oklahoman. How many times have you heard, "there's nothing to do here," from visitors? Now we locals can tell them, you must be thinking of Kansas. We've got Flat Tide! Flat Tide brings their truck of stand up paddle boards (SUP) to Lake Overholser every morning. They provide very cool classes on Intro SUP, Eco Tours, Yoga, and SUP boot camp. I bet you didn't know that Overholser has a network of streams to the north of the lake. There is so much cool stuff to see. It's very cool to go bird watching on a paddle board. The SUP boards are very easy to maneuver. You don't have to get into the water unless you want to. And you may want to! I stuck my legs off the board and splashed myself because it was getting hot doing a work out on the board. Melissa, owner of the Shape Project, taught the boot camp work it class. It was definitely a challenge. Just a warning to those who get motion sickness, you may want to be careful. I was a little dizzy by the time we started doing squats on the boards.You can rent the boards for $15/hour or participate in a class. Families can share boards, which I thought was awesome. You can get a large board and put you and a younger child on the board with you. Or a dog! I think I might bring my dog next time and see how he likes it. Flat Tide also provides life vests that come in fanny packs. (You pull the cord to inflate the vest in an emergency)

My dog Merlin LOVES Flat Tide! Spent 3 hours today paddling the Stinchcomb Refuge section on this perfect holiday weekend. Staff was super informative and helpful with maps and suggested routes to SUP based on wind conditions. Prices were a bit higher in person than advertised on their website but would recommend spending a full day out at Overholser on a SUP! Dogs and coolers are a must for this trip!

Flat Tide Rocks!I came to Flat Tide, having paddleboarded before. I was expecting a normal, "Here you go come back in an hour", type of mood from the owners, Jason and Paige. Instead not only did they introduce me to everyone who worked there, they offered tips, instruction and even took me on a tour in the lake. Everyone there was extremely welcoming and friendly. Eric was another great guy who worked their and even gave me tips on how to improve my efficiency and speed when on the board. Not only are they great owners, but they are all genuine friends. If you have not paddle boarded before or just want to have a great time, I highly recommend FLAT TIDE! Also the SUP Yoga class taught by Kerry was FANTASTIC! We were all getting limber, hanging out and goofing off! I thoroughly enjoyed my time hanging out with this incredible group!

My daughter and I loved this! We did a two person kayak rental and had so much fun! The employees were great and so helpful! We will definitely be going back!

We went to flat tide yesterday and for the first time I was very disappointed. I guess since they have been bought out they have just changed . The "owner" or older guy in the staff shirt was so rude and hateful if I didn't have the two kids with me I would have turned around and went home and got my own board . They have been bought by the boathouse so they have lost the small business feel in fact the "gray shirt " guy was rude and upset because they were so busy . I thought to myself in these uncertain times do you know how many companies would kill to be this busy . Heck I was spending my hard earned money to pay for a fun outing for my family. All I can say is props to Carson . He was cool and nice when I was treated so rudely. I will not be back to Flat Tide . I can no longer recommend flat tide based on how I was treated yesterday. If he is so busy that he gets rude and angry than I will make it easier on him and not be lazy and haul my own board and if family comes and needs to rent I'll go out and try paddle sports in Guthrie

Awesome experience from awesome people. I had never tried SUP in my life before I went to Flat Tide's rental truck on Lake Overholser. The staff is friendly and knowledgable. They understood it was my first time and were great when explaining how to get on the board, how to balance, etc... They were never condescending or belittling, but were patient in helping us get the hang of it.The scenery in the tributaries surrounding Overholser is truly beautiful. It's hard to imagine you're only a 15 minute drive from anywhere in OKC. I will definitely visit Flat Tide again!

Flat Tide is wonderful!! Whether it's SUP Yoga or just renting a board for the day, it's an awesome experience. The guys that run flat tide are very knowledgeable, helpful and just plain fun!!! I'm so glad we have this option in OKC! This activity is a must do!!

I am terrified of dark waters... And most water in oklahoma are just that. I went to an intro class at lake Overhosler to help me conquer this fear, and I was welcomed by such warmth from the staff that I instantly felt at ease. My first experience on the SUP was so much fun, thanks to the support and tips along the way! Since then, I have been back each weekend, and I am continuing to feel more comfortable on the water. I even took my four year old son out with me, and he loved it! This is such a great opportunity to enjoy the sun, see wildlife, and spend time with people you love!Thanks to the confidence I have gained, I am going to try SUP on the Colorado River in a few weeks, and I know that I will be back many times to enjoy the Stenchcomb Wildlife area. If you like to be outdoors, and want to be surrounded by friendly, knowledgeable people who love what they do, then Flat Tide Surf is where you want to be on the weekends. Thanks for bringing this great activity to the landlocked people of Ok!
