Tried to visit the other day but they have been shut down by the fire marshal and aren't allowed to be open. Big orange stickers on the doors. It looks like they have tons of stuff... So much so it's a fire hazard!

I've been meaning to drop by this place since it's so close to my house. I have been looking for an office desk recently, and decided to try it out. However, I wish I would've taken a picture of how many items were in the store. WAY too many items, and things are just kind of piled on top of each other. I wasn't really sure what was in the back room, because it was so cluttered and everything was stacked on each other. The desks that I did find however I feel like were very very overpriced. There are still some great desks on Facebook or craigslist that are not $950 used. Overall, with the negative previous reviews, I always try to shop local, but not if the shop is not ran well or ran right. That definitely hurt my rating as well.

I started shopping at the Elephant Trunk when they first opened 11 years ago. The merchandise and help are superb. I have bought many pieces of furniture and accessories for two different homes. I have always found what I was looking for a reasonable price. I over check prices of items by the brand and know what I am looking for. I just recently met the owner Kathy and her two daughters at the store. These people are sincere and honest while helping you find just the right thing. I am sad to know they are closing because of doubling the lease price. I am sad to say I have never left a review before. Some people expect to find Mathis Brothers duplicated and this not the case. It is worth searching and taking your time to look over every area to find the most incredible and many times a one-of-a-kind piece. Well worth the search. If you want Mathis Brothers go to Mathis Brothers. This is a one-of-a-kind store. As with all industries there will be miscommunication and that is unfortunate however, I have had nothing but the very best experiences. Speak with the owner and you will come away with the same.Happily, Sandra J. Barr

I wish to add a scathing assessment of this business to the previous negative reviews. My 98 year old aunt died in Yukon and the Elephant Trunk said they would be glad to resell her beautiful pieces of Ethan Allen pieces of furniture, picked them up and that's the last we ever heard! I'm living in Chicago, tried repeated phone calls, as did my brother in law in Washington State and they either refuse to answer or assistants make unkept promises to get "Kathy" to respond to us. This has been going on for a full year! The sad component is the flimsy, one page unitemized "receipt" we were given as verification, was misplaced in the move of her other things. An attorney I contacted said this situation becomes a "he said, she said" situation and we have little or no recourse. Clearly this is a standard practice of this business--stay away!

For one thing, it's never open. I've been by a dozen or more times over the past few years and it was only open twice. Still closed today and a big orange sticker on the door. When I went inside in the past it was like walking through a hoarder's home, with a narrow path leading through the store and walls of furniture piled on top of more furniture on each side. Most of the stuff you can't even get to. The only items that had prices listed on them were in the very front as you walk in, and they were outrages ($2000 for a curio cabinet, $1200 for a dirty chase lounge). I see reviews from people who have things on consignment here and they've probably never set foot in the store because it is just a junk store at best.

Horrible! I needed furniture out of my house. I went by 2-3 times and talked to the owner. She promised they would pick it up. Never ever heard back from her. Do not do business with them!

I gave them around 40-50 pieces of furniture, art and decor about 4 months ago. Haven't received a single penny despite them admitting they've sold several of my items. Take your business elsewhere!

I've been dealing with Elephant Trunk for a couple of years. I utterly dislike the new"Mid-century Modern " and the current"distressed" furniture styles, so nearly in desperation I tried Elephant Trunk. I've been able to find a number of items I like there and the prices have been fair and reasonable. They've delivered several items to my home and have been on time and quite professional. As a matter of fact, I purchased several items there today.

Do not do business with this un-ethical store. I consigned several items with them and never heard from anyone ever again. The items were also never posted on their website as promised.

Consigning my possessions here was a huge mistake! I entrusted this store with a large amount of new high end home decor. Whether due to incompetence or something less honorable, I received pennies and then my items went missing. I went back several times to settle up and was made promises but never any payment. Avoid this place!
