We've been wanting to try El Coyote for a while now, and got the opportunity during a lunch date with our son. The place was cute and cozy - not busy at noon on a weekday so we were seated right away. We didn't have much time so we ordered everything at once. My husband ordered the special taco of the day, which was a pork based one and we both ordered the Camerones taco. I also wanted to try the rib tip appetizer. For our son we got the quesadilla. The portion size is amazing. Lots of food for the price. However, I just felt like even though everything LOOKED flavorful, it was missing that umph. The camarones tacos were the most flavorful. My husband wasn't impressed by the special of the day and I was very underwhelmed by the rib tip app. The meat was fall off the bone but it just didn't hit in flavor the way it looks like it should. However, for the price, portions, and ambience I think this place is worth the tr

As someone that used to live in Santa Fe, this takes me back The ambience of the kiva fireplace, the viga ceiling and the corbels tie in the Santa Fe architecture. Now let's talk food! Be prepared for heat, it's not for the faint of heart! My go to is always the stacked blue corn chicken enchiladas served with red and green chili sauce and the refreshing pickled garnishment. I have never liked posole but theirs is delicious. Their queso, and multiple salsas are quite tasty as well as their guacamole. This time we tried the chicken nachos, you could easily do them ad a meal by themselves. My husband likes El Coyote because they are one of the few places that gives you sides with a burrito. Their margarita list gives you plenty of choices!

This was a welcomed surprise! This was not our destination, but it's where we ended up. Service was great! We spend a lot of time in New Mexico and this reminded me so much of that. It was like going into someone's home. Bright and welcoming in the first room, then you step into the next room where the bar is and it's a little darker. Much like the settings in where you're eating in a church or an old home. We loved it!Our party of four each ordered different menu items and they were all delicious!

The food was so yummy! We especially loved the chips (they had a yummy seasoning on it) and queso! We also really enjoyed the rice! Great food all around! Our server was very kind and attentive! It was not too noisy. It allowed us to talk which I appreciated.

I'm native New Mexican, grew up on Hatch green chile, frijoles, enchiladas, the works. I heard about this restaurant a year ago and have been wanting to try it out. This is not authentic New Mexican food. I think they need to consider changing their marketing to "New Mexican fusion". Santa Fe style NM food has a bit of a bad rep in NM because a lot of the cuisine is catered for tourists' palate.I ordered the Stacked Enchiladas with shredded chicken and a fried egg. The "Coyote Beans" taste canned. The chopped green chile taste like they're from a jar and have no flavor. The menu doesn't say anything about where the green chile is from so it may not be Hatch. I asked the staff which was hotter, red or green. Was told the red was and it had no flavor or heat. At all. At all at all. I probably should've run for the hills when I saw "chile style sauce". A lot of pickled red onion which wasn't bad-- actually pretty good! But, again, not really New Mexican. The pickled onions were the only thing that was flavorful. The chicken didn't taste like anything and was dry. Also, shrimp and mushrooms on the menu?? I like birria but it's not New Mexican.Upside is the wait staff were friendly and polite. They offered good service. The atmosphere was nice, a little kitschy. I would've been more forgiving if the food tasted... like anything. The blue corn tortillas were decent and the ristras hanging in the corners were a nice touch.
