We stopped to visit the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. This is a very impactful experience and I'm glad we visited this first. The trauma of this event seems to lay like a pall over the city still. We found the locals to be friendly, but reserved. Like you have to prove yourself before they let themselves be comfortable. We spent most of our time in the Bricktown area, but did drive to other areas. Although the city is organized in a grid, traffic was busy and navigation not always easy. We found many areas of the city to feel uncomfortable, going from 'fine' to 'maybe not' in just a couple of blocks. That could be an incorrect perception based on what we saw. Bricktown includes many restaurants, hotels and the banjo museum. We walked the length of the Canal area. The upper area has many bars, mini-golf and the water taxi. The lower end has fewer restaurants, more garden areas and runs along the highway. The Centennial Land Run memorial is a gorgeous piece of art and should absolutely be part of any visit to the city. We also visited Chickasaw Plaza where a warrior statue sits in the center and much information about Chickasaw history around the edges. Although loud on the lower end because of the nearby highway, it's somehow calmer as there are fewer businesses and more nature.Through our search for places to dine we found a lot of bars in OKC. We did visit some very nice establishments and it seems the city has a prosperous bar culture. I really wanted to find a nice little coffee café. A sunny place to have a coffee drink, chat, work on my computer or people watch with a brioche. I couldn't fine one. At least not in the area we were staying. This was our first visit to Oklahoma and we didn't have an opportunity to visit the many other museums in the area but there is something about the city that left us feeling very 'low'. We actually felt like a weight was lifting from us as we drove away from the city limits even though we found the people to be friendly.

Oklahoma City was mediocre at best to me... I did not know how to have appreciation for my city until I visited OKC. It's a great place to live if you have nothing much to do.... or you want to save up on money because cost of living here is DIRT CHEAP!I visited OKC in the summer of 2022 to visit my friend who also lives in OKC, and I was really underwhelmed at how little there was to do in this city. It really feels like time has stopped as there isn't really much to do, unless you like gambling or smoking weed. For food, OKC is known to have some good barbecue spots here and there. They also have Braum's which some local people claim as the best fast food in the history of mankind (they do have some bombass ice cream). For entertainment, you can go to a Thunders game, you can also go to a rodeo.... there are casinos. They do have Six Flags Frontier City and Hurricane Harbor but they're both mediocre and don't have much for thrill seekers.I will say, stuff here is dirt cheap so if you're trying to save up on money... OKC is a GREAT place to live but anything other than that is just whatever, and I don't think there's much to do in this city, unfortunately. People are generally nice but that's pretty much it for OKC.

The hubs and I decided on a quick visit to OKC for a Thunder game when Steph Curry came to town. It was our first time visiting the city. I find that the "Western meets cowboy" culture is strong here! I enjoyed the downtown and Bricktown areas of the city most, and found a few "bookmarkable" spots to visit. Overall, OKC was a great host!

Oklahoma Forry has been my home for the last 10 years, and there are some things I'm extremely pleased to love her for. I love going to Bricktown. I love our museum, the myriad gardens, etc. But I don't like living in a red state, a state that is unashamed of incarcerating more women than any other state. No, I'm not reviewing the state, just the city, but this is the state capital, where crazy laws are passed and it's a microcosm off the larger state.

Amazing place to see. Very sad but heartwarming to see the history of the community. I recommend seeing this beautiful place if you haven't seen It yet or are visiting.
