DO NOT MOVE HERE ESPECIALLY BUILDING 227 APT F or THE UNIT ABOVE! I got a new job that involves a lot of traveling. I let the management know I would not be home for extended periods of time.My upstairs neighbor flooded my apartment for the 4th time. The management and maintenance team knew about the flooding, 2 weeks before I arrived back home the manager called me to ask when I would be returning. She did not mention the flooding of my unit. My next door neighbor says they were inside of my unit on a daily basis. When I came home I found all my furniture had molded and swelled from the water damage. These pictures show the mushrooms that were growing in my carpet!!! The management and maintenance solution is to paint over with kills and replace the carpet. There have been numerous leaks in this unit, I would not move here. There has to be mold growing throughout all of the walls and ceilings.

Worst Maintenance experience. Over a month now, and the problems were never fixed.. Instead I came home to find my carpet torn up and a huge gapping hole in my bedroom wall and was told to not use the bathroom/bedroom! Left it unusable for over a week... and still waiting. Pissed that I'm only able to use half of the apartment I've paid for..Looked great at first with all the renovations but everything was done haphazardly and they will "Try to fix it" when you are living there... Looking for another location since they can't seem to fulfill their agreement.

We are under new ownership and management!! The new management is doing a complete renovation of the community! The community is getting new windows, doors, and a new paint color on the outside! Inside they are doing new floors, carpet and appliances. The final upgrades will be coming in the spring of 2018 with a new dog park, out door grilling, covered cabanas new pool furniture and much more. Come and see what is going on in our neighborhood!!

I lived in a 1 bedroom apartment from 2016-2017. I DO NOT recommend renting from Dowell Properties, especially if you need to save money!Pros: --good sized apartment (850 sq ft 1 bedroom)-lots of storage (2 walk in closets, 2 smaller closets, loads of cabinets)-amenities are ok (2 pools, small laundromat)-good location-low cost compared to other apartments in the area-office open for limited hours on SaturdayCons:-maintenance is TERRIBLE-management is terrible-lots of bugs (thousands of roaches, spiders, bedbugs)-old apartments-stuff breaks (both in individual apartments and common areas like the laundromat) often and it takes 3 weeks+ to get fixed-weird mold (orange and black)-poorly insulated windows and doors mean high heat/utilities cost-there are people who walk around stealing packages and rummaging through dumpsters every single morningIn the 1 year that I lived at Charleston Apartments, the following things broke down: the stove/oven (2 weeks to fix), the heater (2 weeks to fix), the communal laundry room (on 2 or 3 separate occasions, between 2 and 4 weeks to fix each time), the fridge & freezer (3 times: 2 weeks to fix the first time, 1 week the second, 5 weeks the 3rd), the shower (2 weeks to fix), the main pool (closed for like a month). Each time, we would promptly file a work order with the office, it would take a few days (and follow up calls) to get someone out to look at it, then they'd say "yep, it's broken" and not fix it for at least a week. Several times, they had the part but just didn't come out to install it. Once, they refused to purchase the part (for the refrigerator) AND refused to replace the fridge because "we already used all our maintenance budget for this month".The amount of money we spent because of these maintenance problems (mostly on food, it's expensive when you can't cook and/or all your food spoils from the fridge going out) totalled over $300 just in March. Management absolutely refused to give us a discount on our rent (they offered a partial discount once, then took it away 3 weeks later and marked our rent "past due", complete with threats of taking us to small claims court). In retrospect, we could have saved money by choosing a more expensive complex with decent management. There were other problems as well, like people digging through dumpsters making a mess, stealing packages off your doorstop, roaches (sooooo many roaches and no exterminators), bedbugs (not in our apartment, but there was a mattress by the dumpster with so many bedbugs on it the surface looked like it was moving. So some of the apartments are definitely infested), perpetual office staff turnover, graffiti, floors, ceilings, and walls so think you can listen to all the conversations/tv/sex of your neighbors, and garbage strewn all over the place outside. However, the maintenance problem was such a huge issue that these felt more like minor annoyances.

My girlfriend is a renter here and tried to alt+f4 herself on the night of 12/03/2024 due to the lack of empathy, compassion and understanding of property managers. If you doubt this, check the ground in front of the stairs for building 2045. Her vomit is still there, which also shows just how unhygienic this place is. You have a landscaping team but they haven't cleaned up the vomit that has been sitting there for over a week?Furthermore, I went to the office to make sure they received my voicemail about the situation around noon on the 4th. Less than 5 hours after being informed of my girlfriends hospitalization, Paige denied our lease application/renewal. This is negligent of the emotional damage she would cause by doing so, and was probably intentional, as she also called the cops on me and had me trespassed from the office for "threatening her". I'm a disabled mid 20 year old. In no way am I a "threat". They also called ME, despite not being on the lease and them telling me they werent allowed to talk to me, to threaten my partner with an exiction while she was still in the hospital, which they knew. It's almost like she WANTED to me to try to alt+f4 myself as well. The only redeeming quality about the Charleston Apartments is their maintenance team. Those guys rock. The property managers need to have a lesson in customer service, empathy and conflict resolution. I get you have a business to run, but when you have this negative of an effect on your customers, maybe it's time to start thinking about your choices. I suggest calling their bosses at Altus management group/Altus Equity to complain if you have issues. Here is their number. +17377883889

As an active military soldier the customer service I have received was absolutely terrible. I have lived in this apartment complex for two years and haven't had a problem with management until the new managers in the office. I was yelled at, hung up on TWICE and threatened by the two ladies in the office. And when I left the office they SLAMMED door behind me and locked it, and it wasn't time for them to close. It was very disheartening to be treated like this when I have NEVER had trouble with the old mangers. I have tried contacting Orion Property Management, I have left two messages and have yet to hear back. Stay away from these apartments.

First they pay the residents to give them a 5 star rating. Second they like to charge for damages that were done before you moved in. So take lots of pictures before in and after you move out.

I don't recommend this apartment complex. The apartment was a real letdown. The constant water leaks, noisy neighbors, and lackluster appearance made it a less than desirable place to live. Maintenance is not helpful with any situation regarding maintenance or any other household issues. The office staff is rude and also unhelpful with any situation or problem you may be experiencing. 10 out of 10 do NOT recommend.

Ive lives in these apartments for a little over a year, the rent started at 700 a month they've now raised it to 900 and the maintenance people are nice and all but they aren't much help our ac and heater went out once they fixed it where only the heat will work we have a small child and it gets super hot in here at night they fixed our leaky bathtub once and left a mess everywhere and my 1 year old child had brought me a screw.. super frustrating. Point being we keep having problems here with no fix we ask for help they say they'll do it and never come to fix it or they do a crap job and it's like it wasn't even fixed. We found mold in our living room and bathroom walls and bathroom ceiling when it rains heavy outside water comes in our living room and through the bedroom window seal. And to add on to that the counter tops aren't put on correctly you bump them and they move completely the bath tubs are stained yellow as well. The pictures look so nice and they show you the apartment all decorated and cute and when you point out things messed up/broken/dirty they tell you they'll be fixed before move in. NOPE they didn't fix or clean anything I had to scrub out bath tubs myself and clean the flooring there was some white flakes of what looked like paint all in our carpet if we sat on the floor out clothes were covered in it. Overall not a good experience at this place. The longer you stay the worse it gets
