I lived here for just over 4 years, and there were more problems than benefits to living here. They have a sign with their "scheduled office hours" but they are actually never on premises on weekends, they post a "We'll be back at _____PM" sign and then don't take it down until the actual close time. Every summer i'd have to ask for the A/C to be fixed. The response i'd receive was "I'm sorry to hear that, we'll get someone out to fix that." But, it'd be anywhere from 3-7 weeks for it to be fixed (the end of the season almost), even if i called to remind them my A/C was broken and wouldn't cool below 80 degrees. The same thing happened in winter with the heater, where it couldn't heat the apartment up past 60 degrees and my concerns were met with the same script. The sewage line broke outside my building, and it's been a literal pool of sewage water for over 5 months, and probably wont be fixed for another 5 months. The lights outside the building were broken, or they never turned them on and the community had multiple car break-ins. In the time i lived there, my car was broken into twice, and others in the community had break-ins as well. When i told the manager she said "Oh, it's probably just one of the tennants kids, I'm so sorry! You didn't call the police did you? I'm sure it's a one time thing." The only reason i stayed so long was because it was less than 5 minutes away from work and i wanted to be certain any place i would be moving to, wouldn't be as terrible as it was at Cedar Lake Apartments. There are more terrible things other than a complete lack of service or integrity, but one of the things that upset me most was when i moved out. I gave the "new" manager the keys to my apartment, and asked when i would get any information about my $975 worth of security deposits, and she said "Oh, well we will get someone to go thru the apartment tomorrow!" I call her the next day and she says they are busy and cant do it until Friday. I call Friday morning and ask again, she says no one is available to check the apartment...... So, i call her that SAME day about 4 hours later and she tells me "Oh, we got to look at your apartment! You actually owe us money, and i already sent it off to collections! Do you need me to give you the phone number to contact them at?" I'm furious with her because I've tried to be in constant communication with them, and instead of calling me to tell me "Hey, you owe us money"---which is total b.s. $200 worth of mini blinds that were breaking 4 years ago upon move in, $200 for a maid cleaning, $200 for carpet cleaning for carpet that was frayed and not glued down on move in---- they send it to collections so i cant dispute the charges without taking them to small claims court. If you don't mind your landlord trying to scam you by any means necessary, or for them to not fix any issue while you live in the apartment (or VERY infrequently), if you want a place where your car can be broken into and the management does nothing, or if you want a place where dog feces aren't picked up and are all over the grounds, or if you want a place that doesn't care about it's tenants. Then hey! Cedar Lake might be the apartment complex for you! Besides, it's newly painted! Seriously though, DON'T LIVE HERE. It isn't worth the "market" price they try and sell it for, and it definitely isn't worth the scam they have set up.

By far the worst, most discourteous management I have ever leased from. I rented for 2 years, only having been late on payment once (by 2 days), and yet every time that I had the misfortune of needing to speak with management, I was either ignored or hatefully disrespected. There were far too many such situations to list here, but let me just say that I have never felt so much disgust towards a "professional" management team as I have towards them. They regularly made mistakes that they themselves documented, then blamed them on either me or "computer bugs", despite their own documentation. They regularly made verbal promises that they later hotly denied, only to point at the details of our lease agreement and contest them. They would not give me corporate contact information, and when I found it on my own, I was told to deal with the local management. Their sense of customer service is non-existent, and they will fight you tooth and nail until you get a lawyer and pose a legal threat. One of the biggest selling points when I moved in was the beautiful pond in front of my apt. Little did I know that this would flood my porch and soak my carpet virtually every time that it rained (and management would not fix the drainage issue). In addition, what began as a beautiful, clear pond with 4 grand fountains was allowed to slowly diminish into an algae-filled swamp with only 1 working fountain and driftwood (from storm debris) in the middle that was never cleaned up & has been there for over a year now. The pond is now a terrible eye soar, and despite foliage growing on the now algae-cemented driftwood, management told me that they have no intention of cleaning it. What's more - I saw them walk by it with a potential new renter and claim that it would be cleaned up "next week" (which it of course was not)! The units themselves are great, and the maintenance crew was very helpful, but management is two-faced, deceptive, and, frankly, quite hateful and lazy. Unless you are looking for a legal fight, stay away, and if you do rent there, make sure to keep all documentation and receipts so that they cannot successfully rip you off, though they will certainly try!

If I could give 0 stars I would. I lived there for 3 years as perfect tenant. Beware of them stealing your security deposits. They will accuse you of damage and want you to pay paint job for dust bunnies. I left is cleaner than I moved in with. I am out of $630. They tresspass your property. They are nice in the begining, but you will see their true colors as time progresses. Protect yourself from them. They do not respond to BBB either. BBB had lots of complaints against them of stealing money until recently. Hmmmm..

I LOVE Cedar Lake! The people in the office are so kind and caring, and they take great care of their people. Maintenance is quick and efficient and the floor plans flow nicely and are very affordable.

If I could give this place zero stars I would gladly. This was a nightmare of an experience for us. On move in day we didn't have an oven, a dishwasher, or a refrigerator. The maintenance team brought us "temporary" appliances that had been sitting outside and were covered with dirt (and stunk). The only thing that got replaced was the refrigerator. Also, when we moved in the place was filthy, we spent a few days cleaning, including the past tenants dirty toilets. Numerous maintenance issues, including a flooded upstairs bathroom that took hours for anyone to respond to. By the time anyone showed up it had also flooded our kitchen downstairs. I ended up having to clean most of it, and it took weeks for them to fix the electrical in the kitchen. Then our bedroom window started leaking when it rained harder than a light sprinkle, which took weeks to get fixed. Our sink garbage disposal literally exploded spewing out food particles all over our kitchen, which I had to clean myself because no emergency maintenance. They did fix it a few days later, but that smell never really went away. To their credit they gave us half of a months rent off, only after the apartment supervisor had failed to meet her promises for the third time. We were very unhappy here so we paid the early termination fee to leave. They also informed us that we wouldn't get our deposit back, even though we were eligible, because of "heavy dog pee" on the downstairs vinyl plank. Which first of all, no they didn't, we have well trained adult dogs. Second, if you know anything about flooring you know that's a joke. I've known a few people that didn't have any issues and they liked the place, it's in a great location with nice scenery. But if you have any issues you're guaranteed to have a series of headaches from it.
