Cattlemen's Steakhouse

It had been years since I had last gone to Cattlemen's. To be honest, I completely avoided Cattlemen's since I last visited over 10 years ago. But had family come from out of town and of course saw raving reviews of this old school staple in our state. Cattlemen's doesn't take any reservations so keep that in mind. Definitely dont go during prime dinner or lunch hours if you don't expect to wait a bit. Luckily being in the stockyards, there are a couple of stores in walking distance to browse around while your table is getting ready. Inside has an older feel to it, cozy that's for sure. But nothing to complain about. The waitress was very attentive as well as the other support staff making sure everyone had waters constantly and clearing out plates. The food was actually great. Their salad with house dressing? Bottle me up some of that dressing because I could come back just for that alone and be happy. The steak actually was done how I wanted it. This was the main reason I didn't come back from when I visited previously because they got my steak temp wrong and it was way more done than what I wanted it and they hid it by dumping or dipping it in aus jus. This time, it was perfect. Typical side of baked potato. Mac and cheese was good, little bit on the dry side but the noodles were perfect. Glad I gave it a second go. Totally see why everyone raves this place. Definitely reasonably priced too if you go for lunch and have their steak special for lunch.

Came here with extremely higher expectations and left very disappointed.This place came recommended.1) the place is huge. Has a very friendly atmosphere. 2) Staff is awesome! Friendly and attentive.3) Place is clean, huge and welcoming.4) overall, food was good and service was great!5) Waitress was excellent.My steak, while one of the most expensive, lack taste, seasoning (salt and pepper at least) and was very thing that is it was ridiculously bad.6) I told the waitress and she tried to remove it from bill. Not what I wanted I just wanted her to inform her that it was bad so she could tell management.I will not be returning.However, I encourage to please try them out. My experience is not the gold standard.

Getting back to OKC, I always make it to Cattleman's. This place being around for over a 100 years, I love the mystic of the place. The steaks are always great. Seasoned well and an au jus that is just perfect. The house made dressing on the salad. Then the house made toast points; make for a winning combination.

Cattlemen's has weekday lunch specials, today I went totally out of comfort zone and ordered the chicken fried chicken lunch special - house salad with their delicious house dressing, mashed potatoes, steamed vegetables, fried chicken breast with white gravy on the side. The chicken breast was fried a light golden brown, juicy, tender and delicious. Cattlemen's is more than a delicious steak house!! Excellent customer serve.

An Okc landmark that still is serving up the best food in an authentic Cattlemen setting- if you're country, this is your place. Service is great- and be sure to get the lamb fries. House salad dressing is a must. Plus, a $7.95 old fashioned that's as good as dessert

Our Son and Daughter-in-law took us to Cattleman's this morning for their breakfast buffet. We had a great time. We thoroughly enjoyed the buffet. It's basic: biscuits, gravey, hash browns, scrambled eggs, bacon, patty sausage cinnamon rolls and fruit. The overall quality is good. I wasn't able to take photos as my battery died. I will rate each item on the buffet that we ate.Biscuits: 5/5Cream gravey 5/5Hash brows 3/5Bacon 5/5Sausage patty 3.5/5Cinnamon roll 5/5Bloody Mary's: 3/5 Not part of the buffet.If you're not buffet adverse, Cattleman's buffet is a good value. This was my first time here. This place is indeed a time warp, it's over a century old. It is the kind of joint my family would go to on a Friday night when I was a kid. It probably looks the same too lol But you don't come for the no frills ambiance, you come to eat the most tender steak, the house salad and a no nonsense baked potato! I understand this is not for everyone, but I was raised as a meat and potatoes girl so this brought me back big time. If the meat is good, you don't need all the embellishments you'll find elsewhere.My filet mignon was perfectly cooked medium rare wrapped in bacon with au jus on the plate. Hubs got the ribeye steak and is ready to go back already!! The rolls were super soft and fluffy. Since it was my birthday, I took a coconut cream pie home too which was delicious. I think our waitress was Myra? She was a sweetheart and very attentive despite it being a full house. Expect a wait, so come early and come hungry.

It is an amazing place with an amazing history. My Mu Lyft driver recommended it to me, and it did not disappoint.

I had breakfast, not their famous cuts of steak. It was a good breakfast. Nothing over the top. It's the fact that you're eating at a restaurant that's over 100 years old, that's the cool factor and the decor is great vintage.
