"Great crispy tacos! Hard to find with so many street tacos available out there. Yet this takes me back to my taco roots. Carne asada quesadillas were fantastic. Full of beef, peppers and cheese. I shared it and still walked away full. Major beer selection and cocktails too. You can pick inside, outside or rooftop. Was too hungry so didn't think about pics until most of the food was gone. Next time. And there will definitely be a next time!"
"I was waiting for my pup at a vet appointment and went to have some lunch. I walked in here and it was a nice atmosphere and was greeted promptly. I was seated and got a water while waiting for the server.The server was very helpful in suggestions and favorites on the menu. I got the poke bowl and it was so delicious! They also have rotating local beers on tap. The server suggested I try to prairie esses and brought me a small sample. I had already ordered the prairie blueberry boyfriend. Upon entering we sat at a nice table for two and was greeted by our nice server Jake. For the entree I ordered the chicken quesadilla with sides of waffle fries and Cole slaw. When the food arrive the portion size was big so much that I had to bring some food home. Waffle fries were crisp and seasoned well. Cole slow was ok but not my favorite. The chicken quesadilla was very good. All in all, I would highly recommend anyone to come and give this restaurant a try."
"Stopped in for an early lunch--I hadn't been in before & the owner went over the menu in detail & gave us samples of the horchata & Agua de Jamaica (both delicious). We ordered chips & queso, and 4 tacos total--asada, barbacoa, fish, and shrimp. Everything was hot and fresh and even the lime wedges were fresh and juicy (we've all had sad little dried out limes, amirite?). The staff was friendly and attentive, and definitely wanted to make sure the customer experience was positive, prices very reasonable. Definitely will return!"

"We've been here several times and have had great experiences every time. This area is really fun, so we often bring the kids out for food, and they can play on the big grasshopper play equipment while we drink a couple of beers at the big seating area in front of American Solera. Mondays they have a special where if you buy an adult entrée, you get a kid's entrée for free, so we take advantage of that pretty regularly. The tacos and empanadas are always very tasty, and I really like the sauces they have. Sauces are what separate the average taco places from the very good ones in my opinion, and they have the sauce game on lock. I've never had any service issues - the employees are kind, and the food is always ready quickly."

Props to the bartenders! Awesome service & recommendations. Requested a mocktail with ginger beer, prickly bar and mint and the bartender curated a drink especially for me! Delicious and refreshing. Decided to try the chicken flautas and the brisket tacos. Not a fan of the flautas but highly recommend the burnt end brisket. Best taco on the menu! Staff is in incredibly kind and accommodating. Parking is easy and the vibe is great! New regular spot.

The inside of this place is gorgeous! I got the watermelon mocktail and this was sooo refreshing. The ramens broth was sooo delicious. Our service was great! Friendly and helpful. The pricing seemed pretty fair.

"What can I say, we keep coming back. This taqueria is on our circuit of places we dine in when we're on the southside. It's a good Mexican food taqueria, nothing fancy, but we love it.They have recently renovated this space. The interior is spacious and their use of neutral colors is calming and very well done. Sometimes I'm just in the mood for an affordable tasty meal and this place makes the cut. They do a great job at including pictures on the menu so you can have a good idea about what your ordering.Their mega burrito is MEGA HUGE and makes a very tasty meal for two, or great leftovers. I especially love it filled with carne asada. Well, anything with that carne asada meat here, I would imagine to be delicious. The enchiladas rojas dish with chicken is tasty, but I wish I would have tried it with carne asada instead. Sometimes I feel like the shredded chicken is a bit dry, not every time...hit & miss. Every time I eat their beans I remember how much I enjoy them. Their pollo a la plancha platter is paillard style chicken, or thinly pounded chicken, accompanied with rice, beans and a little salad with avocados. This is a solidly delicious dish. The chicken is so flavorful, I really like the little side avocado salad, but sometimes we ask for an extra side salad for the two of us to split and it makes for the perfect meal. If on the southside near SW 36th & Western, I'd give this affordable Mexican taqueria a try for sure. The sheer volume of food is impressive, not to mention, they serve delicious food. March 2020"
"I happened to be out past normal dining hours on the South Side last night, so I decided to grab something to eat. No shade on fast food (sometimes nothing will do but something battered pulled from a vat of bubbling fat), but I was looking for some Mexican/Mexican adjacent fare from both a dietary and flavor standpoint. So, like any good Yelper, I fired up my app. It led me to Taqueria Express.Now, I was born on the South Side and worked over there for several years, so I know this turf pretty well. I forget exactly what Express' building used to be (I'm thinking it was a Captain D's, but it might have been a barbeque joint. Anyway, I only bring this up because I'm always fascinated when entrepreneurs repurposed chain restaurant buildings, especially ones that have strong branding elements. When you're my age, you can spot an old school Braum's or Taco Bell at half a mile, but hustlers find a way to make it their own.It was around 11:15PM when I pulled in to the parking lot. When I walked in, they were mopping. I was the only customer there. I had no problem with that; I've worked late at restaurants and as long as I get fed, you can handle your business and get out as soon as the doors lock.The first thing that caught my attention was the extensive menu. Everything was displayed by name, menu number, and a photo. I was so hungry that it took me some time to decide, but I eventually decided on the Steak Ranchero. I omitted a couple of things for dietary reasons, and took a seat to wait for my order. Someone else came through the drive-thru and placed an order. After about five to seven minutes, my order came up and I was out the door.Now, I will bring up that as I was leaving, there were some young guys yelling at each other while traipsing through the vacant lots/fields behind the restaurant. It should be noted that there's an OnCue across the street from the restaurant, and a large newer design 7-Eleven a block north. May Avenue is a busy street, there are several apartment complexes nearby, and it was after 9PM. Nothing bad happened, but sensible people open their eyes wider and observe their surroundings the later it gets. As a wise person once told me, "If you stay ready, you don't gotta get ready." Enough said.So, I'm in the car and headed home. The food smells amazing, and I'm really hungry. I noticed the container's weight on my way to the car (surprisingly heavy), and I'm uncertain about how the dishes will be set up, so I put my hand in the bag to see if there's any way I can grab a bite of something. When I do, I feel something wet and it's not condensation. A little something had leaked out. I really didn't want to stop the car to investigate, so I stuck some napkins in the bag and hoped I didn't have a major issue on my hands. Once I parked at home, I saw that the container was so full, some of the sauce had leaked out of the styrofoam clamshell. The only reason why I bring this up is to put you on alert that if you get takeout or delivery. My portion was enormous, but so big that the clamshell couldn't hold it all neatly. Hey, God bless generosity.So, I park and I open the box. WOW, that's a lot of food. It's set up to be consumed with tortillas, so there was lettuce, tomatoes, a big chunk of lime, and (thank you, food gods) pickled carrots (pretty sure they're called Zanahorias en Escabeche, and they're proof that Latin culture is brilliant). The extra acid was welcome, because this dish was RIIIIIIIIIICCCCHHHHH. Incredibly flavorful. The sauce was thicker than what I typically see with most Ranchero dishes, and it made all the difference. Either they use roasted tomatoes in that sauce, or they let it simmer for a long period of time and then assemble the dish when it's ordered. Regardless of the method, this was one of the better dishes I've experienced in OKC in the past five years. It's that good. I literally sat in my car with the door open and just scarfed through that huge amount of food. It was amazing.Looking back this morning, I have several observations. One, I really want to go into the restaurant and have a sit down experience. Having all the ingredients presented the way they're intended at a table would probably be even better than the caveman approach I took last night (although I'm not complaining). Two, they have a number of breakfast dishes on their menu, and they look/sound great. If I would have known about this place when I was working on the South Side, it would have solved my persistent breakfast issues. Three, anyone coming here should temper their expectations with regards to decor. It's obviously a restaurant run by food-focused ownership/management. The finish/decor is inexpensive, and has some wear on it. However, it's clean, and the service was unfailingly kind. You're not coming here to be impressed by the table setups or the cool interior design. You're coming here for kick-ass food. And that's why I'll be coming back. HIGHLY recommended."

"I have to admit, I am so glad we gave this authentic taqueria another chance, because some of their tacos are delicious. Marinated chicken and adobada (spicy pork) are their best I've tried, two of the best tacos in MWC. Just be sure to ask for grilled onions (and remind them). So full of flavor they don't even need salsa, but the orange and green salsas do take them up a notch. Meats tender, cooked a little on the greasy side. Pork can be a little fatty but it's not a deal breaker. They tend to serve them piping hot so be careful of hot juices escaping as you bite. Taco prices range from $1.59 to $1.99 depending on meat. Tacos are somewhat hit and miss, avoid the lengua (why marinated?), tripas (not crunchy, too chewy), & carnitas are just okay (too oily). Menu says they have fish tacos, but in reality they don't. Taco Tuesday has the chicken and both pork tacos for 99 cents!Inside it is definitely a fast food spot, nothing fancy, but it is mostly clean and well care for, besides a stray fruit fly or two. Drive thru is convenient. Salsa bar is a great addition, fresh and clean. Staff is accommodating, though forgetful at times. You have to ask for napkins. Ease of communication varies depending on who is working.I am so glad they took over this location, I think they will do great here."
"I love this food truck so much. Not entirely traditional Mex, but such consistently delicious food for a fair price. They also give you a free can of soda with your order. We love their burritos, quesadillas, and when they have lengua tacos (beef tongue), definitely get those! I have yet to try their birria but that's next on my to order list."
"We decided on this particular taco truck on a whim because every time we drove by, there were always quite a few people. It didn't matter what time, lunch, dinner, way after dinner, there were people. There are actually at least 3 taco trucks that are closer to the house, but we passed all of them to come to La Piñata. DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. I haven't had taco truck in forever. And we were impressed with how much flavor we got, but it is CHEAP for the amount of food. He got a huge burrito, and I got a torta. Nachos are LEGIT. I don't know what verde sauce they use, but it's so good!I usually can't finish mine, but he devours his. Sometimes he wants more. My rating is based on other taco trucks....after my sister brought me a torta from another place. It just wasn't the same. I was pretty disappointed!So, we have gone back on multiple occasions. "First off let me say this, the fresh corn tortillas is one of the best I have ever had. With that being said, I know it was weird of me to also get the fusion pasta as well as the onion rings. But, it wasn't just a normal pasta you get at Olive Garden. They made this pasta so well with al dente noodles plus the sauce was just perfection with Guatemalan flavor and spices that I truly enjoyed the pasta. Of course it did not compare to the pasta you get in Italy but for Oklahoma standards, this place did better than most of the restaurants out there. They did not speak English however with my broken Spanish, I managed to communicate with them and they were very friendly. Will be back."
"This place has amazing Mexican food. It's a min and pop style eatery. I ordered Flautas but to my specific order. They are normally served with avocado, tomato's and other items but I was trying to recreate a dish from El Paso called Chico's tacos , it was a pretty good match after I put the green chili on. The restaurant is cozy and has a family style laid back ambiance. The food is just as it should be, authentic and tasty. This place isn't fancy but should be at the top of your list to visit if your in the mood for good Mexican food in OKC."

"Because sometimes you just need a taco!I've been to this location many times, and it has always been a very pleasant experience. Usually, I hit Del Taco on my way out of town, and usually it is at night. The staff has always been very friendly to me, even when I've been unprepared or made changes to my orders. The food has always been hot and fresh. I LOVE the vegetarian options here. The beyond meat tacos are fantastic, especially as a soft taco. The bean and rice burritos are also great and cheap! It's easy to come in and grab a ton of food without spending a fortune, and the food doesn't make me sick like some of the other taco chains. For fast food, this place is great."
"Ordered 4 tacos. Steak and spicy pork. Didn't care for the steak.. lacked flavor. Did enjoy the pork tacos. Side of beans was way too runny like soup. Husband ordered steak burrito. Was supposed to come with beans bc we had asked if it came with beans. When we got home there was no beans in the burrito. Will definitely go back to order spicy pork tacos.
