"First off, great food. I haven't had a single bad dish at The Kitchen and I have been trying everything. Smothered pork chops are delightful and the portions are large enough to make at least two meals from. The boneless skinless chicken breasts were so much better than they had any right to be. Shrimp and grits? Absolutely perfect.Even better is the service. Everyone there is eager to help and wants to make your dining experience the best it can be.This was my fault, but I left my jacket behind at lunch and one of the staff members came rushing out with it to make sure I didn't leave it behind. That may seem like common sense for a restaurant, but not many places are going above and beyond like this lately. If you love soul food or any kind of food and you want to support people who really care about their customers and the dishes they serve, there is no better place than The Kitchen."
"Foodwise, this is a hidden gem. Their food is downright delicious!...BUT their service had issues. I'll start with the food. They serve soul food and BBQ, so good, you no longer have to drive to the east side to get it. We had the rotisserie chicken special, so smoky and juicy, just delicious! Dipped in the bbq sauce it was even better -- sauce super tangy and flavorful. But one cup was not nearly enough for this amount of bird. Two sides came with it. We had their coleslaw, very wet and milky, with a little black pepper, flavor was decent. But it was the skin-on red potato salad that really won us over, made with just the right amount (a touch) of mustard. It was so creamy, with large potato chunks and near perfect flavor. Meal also comes with a can of soda pop and a slice of white bread (oddly completely wrapped in aluminium foil, first I'd ever seen that).Pro tip: Be sure to add a slice of Earthquake cake. It is a unique take on German chocolate cake and downright addictive! Sadly the good times ended at the service. They overcharged us for the chicken, dollars more than we were quoted over the phone. Without telling us they added $2 for using debit card. When I called back for an explanation of the extra charges, the same lady was full of excuses and blamed it all on us. Apparently, we just weren't hearing properly (a car full of us on speaker phone say different). They also left utensils out of our bag, making our picnic in the park very difficult.I am torn on the star rating due to the unprofessional service. So I'll just leave it in the middle at 3 -- service was a 1, and food definitely a 5. But I would definitely give them another chance to prove themselves capable..in a heartbeat!"
"Excellently prepared ofada and jollof rice -- PERFECT seasoning in each dish.I'm anxious to return to try the meat pies.Friendly service!"
"I tried this place on a whim from DoorDash. I feel this place could have potential. I ordered the smoked brisket with Mac and cheese and baked beans and a smoked peach cobbler and their peach cobbler tea. From the moment I opened the back I was overwhelmed with smoke. The smoke from the peach cobbler tasted like smoked meat. The baked beans and brisket lacked flavor really and the Mac and cheese was gooey and over cooked like the noodles were sticking together and it tasted like velveeta and rotel packed in a cup. I will give them a chance in the future but as of now the food is not my favorite unfortunately. I got my order in a timely manner and it was packed perfectly"

I came here for the smothered pork chops and I stayed an hour and a half to finish dessert. The smothered pork chop has gravy and caramelized onions on a bed of rice. It was so good and tender that I didn't even need a knife to cut it. The flavor was outstanding,It cam with the best yams with cinnamon and brown sugar. 10/10Desserts we sampled them all, strawberry cake with cream cheese was my favorite, there were small chunks of real strawberries. I highly suggest you go.

I placed an order via Ubereats. Usually, when I go get BBQ, I tend to run into an issue with salty ribs, but the ribs here are very bland. Also, there wasn't enough meat on the ribs, just primarily bone, so I finished this meal easily, and I was still hungry. And the BBQ sauce was similar to the ones at a store. For the sides, the mac n cheese was just noodles with a bit of cheese sauce, while the potato salad tasted like the ones from the deli. Yeah, it was a sad lunch.

Let's talk about this new Nigerian restaurant that opened up just two weeks ago. They used to be a food truck and I'm so glad things are looking up for them. The decor and cleanliness is great but just note that there's not much space to dine in, so be prepared to take your food on the go. The music and lovely colors all give it a great, modern, but cultural vibe. Service was fairly quick and very pleasant. We had the following:1. puff puffs - fried bread/dough ballsThese are a bit oily for me but the texture is similar to a nice yeast donut, slightly thicker or dense on the inside and lightly sweet. Enjoyed it. 2. Samosas-fried pastry with seasoned ground beef + carrotsThese were super oily. I don't know if it's because it is cooked in oil that isn't piping hot or taken out to drain quickly. However, the flavors are on point and these are delicious! 3. Fried sweet plantainsThis is a family favorite. You can never go wrong with fried sweet plantains! 4. Meat pie - baked pastry filled with seasoned meat and veggies. This is typically a hit or miss at restaurants and I'm glad to say it's a winner here! Not dry, plenty of filling & good taste. 6. Goatmeat Ayilata + Rice. This was jollof rice with one piece of goat meat. For portion awareness, I would say the goat meat is about the size of my wife's fist. Now, if you've never met my wife, that wouldn't be helpful but let's say it may equal 2-3 chunks of meat. The meat itself went uneaten at our house. We tried to chew it and pull it apart from different angles and aside from it being stuck in our teeth to wage war, we lost the battle. However, the jollof rice was VERY good. So flavorful! We have missed jollof rice and now we know where to get it. This was the star, for sure. 7. Egusi stew with poundo yam swallow-Taste was good with the egusi. Nothing that wowed us. It seemed typical. My wife is always a fan of a good starch that she can eat with her fingers and dip into stew. Now, let's talk about the ONLY concern we have. The rice platter should have had plantains with it but we didn't see any with the platter. Not a big deal since we ordered a separate side container of plantains. The container though wasn't fully packed to the brim. We got 7 pieces of plantains and paid $5! (For context, I just bought a plantain from the grocery store this week for 79 cents.) I'm ok with the $5 if the container was completely packed. What was even more crazy was that the stews and soups like egusi are $25 and you'd think it's a good portion. Unfortunately you can't tell in the picture but the container is very small. What you'd get as a side dish at some restaurants, maybe 5 inches in diameter? I have to be honest, the prices for some of the portions seem very excessive, but I am a fair believer in supporting new restaurants & I encourage others to go check it out. I just worry that if you start off so expensive and it doesn't match the portions, you could lose customers quickly. Even $15 for the stews and soups would be pricey but in a much better range to be justified. And when you're a new restaurant, please don't skimp out! Fill those containers, so people believe they are getting what they paid for. I know we struggle with inflation but it impacts customers and businesses alike. Just a small word of advice. We're happy to see more African cuisine in our city, so we're cheering you on! We hope to be back and try other items on the menu soon.

Alright ! BBQ review here boys. Spencer Oklahoma. Heavenlee BBQ! Solid very solid bbq. As usual got the brisket and rib plate with a side of tater salad. Brisket wasn't as tender as typical sliced brisket goes. A little on the chewy end. But saved by their excellent sauce sweet but a spicy kick. Potato salad was watery and sweet. Didn't like. Wasn't for me. However the RIBS were damn near perfect. Dry rub and meaty!! Flavorful all their own however put a little bit of that sauce on them and shooot you got something special!! Official rating 7.8 out of 10

In the land of casual chain restaurants and fast food, Venue 104 is a welcome addition to the South OKC dining scene. They are a nice, casual option for lunch, and an upscale option for dinner. So far, I have been very impressed with their food and customer service. I have dined there twice, and both times the Chef has come to our table to ask how we liked our food and to take the time to explain their concept and goals. According to him, they are a harvest to table concept, and feature fresh products seasonally. The Executive Chef was previously the personal Chef to the Governor, so he has a cornucopia of experience in catering and various international cuisines and flavors. It seems a large portion of their business is catering. In talking with another Chef, I learned that he is a home brewer, which allowed for some bonding time with my hubby. He said that they have the goal of hosting beer dinners in the future, as well as serving his craft home brew and specializing in beer/food pairings. I can't wait!I have only dined at Venue104 for lunch, although their dinner menu looks extraordinary featuring fresh produce, seafood, and a beautiful filet. The lunch is delicious. My husband mentioned that the prices really are reasonable, especially considering how much one pays at Panera Bread or other similar sandwich/soup/salad places, and this place is a nice, sit down restaurant. The menu consists of a few appetizers (I have not tried them), soups, salads, sandwiches, entrees, and desserts. Venue 104 makes all of their salad dressings in house, and they are creative and tasty. The salads feature fresh, innovative ingredients and look very good. They feature a soup du jour as well as roasted tomato bisque. There are several intriguing sandwich options, such as a brie and apple turkey burger, open faced chicken marsala sandwich served on homemade focaccia, a regular beef burger, an italian chicken sandwich, a philly sandwich, and a few others. Both times, I have gotten the Italian chicken sandwich; it is that good! The chicken breast is marinated in their homemade pesto, thinly sliced, and served on their homemade focaccia with tomato, arugula, fresh mozzarella, and a pesto aioli. Scrumptious! All sandwiches are served with either soup, salad, or oven roasted herbed potato wedges. The entrees consist of linguini coils with marinara and meatballs, chicken florentine, and a pork loin that I heard a woman a few tables away raving about. For dessert, they offer a chocolate mousse bomb, a southern bread pudding, and a cheesecake. I have tried the two former desserts. The chocolate mousse bomb is a frozen dessert that has several layers of different chocolate mousses. It is so yummy; although I liked my room temperature leftovers better than when it was served frozen. The southern bread pudding was decent, but I prefer bread pudding to have a more custardy texture. However, it has a phenomenal warm carmel sauce on top that would make anybody lick their plates! On a side note, I love the woman's bathroom! It is clean and is decorated nicely. They offer higher end hand soap and lotion, as well as room spray. I always appreciate these attention to details; it says a lot about a business. The service is very good; the servers know the menu, like the food, and seem happy to be serving you. It impresses me that the Chef visits with the customers and I think it shows that they care about customer service and making an enjoyable experience. To all you South OKCers, give Chilis and On the Border a break and go check out Venue 104 for lunch or dinner. And all you North OKCers, take a nice drive and venture out of your normal restaurant line up; it is worth the drive and you won't be disappointed. I am already thinking about my next visit; what will I order...

"I attended a private event here and was really blown away by the service and the attentiveness of the staff. The venue is very well decorated, very comfortable and clean. My sister hosted a Bridal Shower/Cooking Class for myself and 15 other ladies and we had an absolute blast ! If you are looking for a creative idea for a party/special event you should definitely consider this. They set up the food prep stations on one side of the restaurant and we were seated on the other, we had wine while they got everything set up & once all the ladies arrived, we broke up in to 2 person teams and began to prepare our lunch, appetizer, entree and dessert. The chef specially prepared the menu to suit the them of our event, "Recipe for Romance". We learned a lot of food prep tips, it was very hands on and we cooked everything that we ate & left with the recipes. All of my friends and family are still raving about what a wonderful, fun, enjoyable event it was. We ran a little bit over our scheduled time, and they had to start setting up for the restaurant to open for dinner, but graciously allowed us to finish opening up my shower gifts and finish our dessert and wine. First class staff, first class venue and wonderful food !"
"Walk Up Order Window (??) It's 100+ degrees outside and there's a walk-up window..... with outdoor seating. I mean come on, it's Oklahoma where eating outdoors in the elements is not comfortable most of the year! The Oklahoma wind pretty much eliminates this the rest of the year. We won't be back to this location. I will say the food was good, what didn't fall onto my lap while eating it in the car. And the staff seemed very knowledgeable about the menu and their offerings and was very pleasant."
"OH MY!!!! My granddaughter recently moved her wedding to Stillwater only 2 months before her wedding. We were fortunate enough to be able to book Meditations for this event! Meditations does it ALL! They provide the facility, they also cater and have a full service bar with bartenders! We were planning everything over the phone and via email since my granddaughter lives in North Carolina and I live in California. Constance and Jennifer were amazing. Their response time to all my many questions was very quick and they accommodated my every need! The Man Cave for the groomsmen (complete with a dart board room, shuffle board, pool table, foosball and 2 full sized TVs) and the Brides dressing room (that looked like something out of hollywood) were "Over the top". The main event room had a beautiful hard-wood bar and a portable dance floor. We only had 60 guests, but I'm sure it could hold over 200-300. They provide the tables, chairs, linens, the dishes and silverware....they provide it all! They even cleaned up! We had her ceremony outside under the gazebo....it was so beautiful!! There are several great photo spots around the grounds that make for a great back-drop. I can't say enough good things about this venue! They made my granddaughter's wedding an amazing event!"
