Here is a list we made upon arrival. We both agreed that this is the dirtiest, most run-down place we have ever stayed:* Cobwebs and spider eggs under all beds. The futon is covered with spider eggs. The 1st thing we saw upon arrival was a large spider on the front door. There were also spiders in the tub.*Shower curtain and liner were filthy. *There were brown spots/something splattered on all the walls around the toilet.*The toilet leaks every time it is flushed.*The shower leaks and soaks the floor.*Kitchen sink faucet and bathroom sink faucet were broken.*Microwave door is melted*Micro and fridge were very dirty with dried on food and something black. I had to clean them. The freezer is frozen over. *No clothes hangers and we were not told to take any. We were told everything was provided except shampoo and soap. *Lamp shade by the bed was broken.*The window blinds are broken and filthy.*Half of the light bulbs were burned out, we had to use flashlights to see any detail. *The dining chairs and coffee table are so loose & wobbly, they can't be used. Also, We were not given specific directions early enough (before we left Dallas) and we had a hard time finding it. We tried to call several times but could not reach anyone. It was very hard to make the reservation and plan our trip because it's so difficult to reach anyone.I reserved & paid for cabin #10 online and then was switched to cabin #4.

We sent a reservation request online, on a Saturday. We never received a confirmation email or phone call. We called (the manager's phone) a couple of different times, leaving messages & never had a return call. We arrived at Buffalo Gap Lodging, there was no office to check in or valid number to call. Through the kind ladies at the Arbuckle Wilderness Gift Shop, we managed to get in touch with the (we soon learned) "Evil Manager" (but not owner, who might be a nice person, but has since continually defended Sherri & her evil ways). Sherri said the cabin we reserved, the Santa Fe was not clean and we would be staying in the "clean" Buffalo Gap #8 Cabin. The Evil Manager, Sherri, knew we had 3 people and said there would be ample room for all 3 of us to sleep, since our original lodging had 3 beds, we were surprised to see only 2 beds in the new lodging. Sunday, 8pm - We had a horrible time just getting inside of the cabin, the lock box & then the door were so damaged that we had great difficulty opening them. We got inside, killed a bunch of small bugs, spiders, flies, etc. We thought these were to be expected, since we are surrounded by trees. After turning on the air, and getting settled for the night, we unpacked everything & had dinner. Shortly after dinner, we tried to get the futon set to be used as a bed... nope, it was broken and there were several dead bug bodies and hundreds of body parts on the futon cushion. So 2 of us were cramped in one bed & the third was in the other bed. We turned off the lights & tried to sleep... nope... there were sounds that made us think someone was attempting to get in through the bathroom window, while watching the bathroom door (and praying fervently) we saw what seemed to be a mouse crawling UP the bathroom door. I turned on the light & went to chase it away, but saw it was a 3 inch cockroach... I tried to swat it with the flyswatter, it flew away. We finally killed the monster roach & several other bugs who came out when the lights had been turned off and tried again to go to sleep. Then, the person in the single bed screamed, there were live bugs in the bed, crawling all over! Sunday, 11:30pm - We quickly packed our belongings, leaving the pizza (which we were going to finish as lunch the next day) and our drinks, because the bugs had already infested the pizza box & were inside the drinking cups. We called Sherri & left a message telling her we were leaving the cabin, since it was being taken over by bugs, and we didn't want to be charged. THIS IS THE CLEAN ROOM TO WHICH WE WERE SWITCHED. The next day we went back to the Arbuckle Wilderness and the girls at the gift shop were again wonderful & called the cabin owner, Tammy, and I explained our experience, she assured us we would not be charged. Tuesday, 6:30pm Sherri calls me (I am already back in Texas) and begins yelling at me for leaving pizza boxes everywhere (there was one box, on the counter) and causing her to have to hire someone to clean the cabin... Shouldn't this have been something completed prior to having a guest??? I tried to interject and explain what occurred, Sherri continued yelling over me, I said, "Excuse me" and Sherri said, "Yeah, Excuse YOU! I SHOULD charge you for the cabin - Good Night!!!" and then she hung up on me. I called the Arbuckle Gift shop & they gave me the owner, Tammy's phone number. I called Tammy & left a brief message explaining what happened. She called back and defended Sherri almost immediately. I cut in to explain what happened. Tammy defended Sherri even more. I asked what kind of business is she running where she allows her employees to call and harass the customers and I asked her to please give me a minute to explain our experience. She allowed me the time to do that and then said they were under the impression we had called today about being charged for the cabin that we couldn't stay in because of the filth... it wasn't us, apparently they had another set of upset guests who had to flee in the middle of the night...I wanted to be thorough in my review. I always leave positive feedback for my positive experiences and I felt it was important to leave honest feedback for this horrible experience. I hope no one else has to deal with Sherri, Tammy, or the Buffalo Gap Cabins.
