Billy Ray's Bar-B-Q & Catfish

I was hungry for some catfish today, so I went through Billy Ray's BBQ drive through. They always have prompt and courteous drive through service. In my opinion, Billy Ray's has the very best catfish in the Tulsa area. It is delicious! It comes with hush puppies and one additional side. Everything on Billy Ray's menu is excellent. I have probably tried all of it down through the years. High quality food for a reasonable price. Go visit Billy Ray's BBQ for lunch or dinner some time. You will be glad you did!

Ok, Billy Rays BBQ and Catfish is a Tulsa classic. Sometimes you have to visit the OG's too. Today was the day. As usual, it was delish. The service was first rate. It helps that I went with a regular and the server knew her order from memory. Picture a BBQ joint and that's the vibe. Darkish with lots of signage.Hang a few saddles and cowboys hats on the wall to drive the mood home!

Excelente service! I would make now this place my cat fish restaurant and I will have to come back to try their bbq I'm sure is really good.Everything look clean place looks vintage very original. The ambiance was great, felt like on the west, actually it is on the west. We will definitely be back.

Start with fresh clean tasting catfish. No earthy or chemical flavors from food the farm raised fish was fed. No amount of batter or seasoning can make that go away. You have to start with good fish or stay out of the business. Encrust that fresh catfish filet in the perfect thickness of cornmeal battering, then fry it like you were competing on the final episode of Hell's Kitchen with that asshole chef "Gordan Ramsey" looking over your shoulder. Keep it simple. The finished product, a fried filet that has a crust thick enough to support the whole filet when held by one end, a crunch that lasts through the chew and a moist, tender, fresh tasting catfish filet reward inside. That's Billy Ray's Catfish. I'm hooked!The sides are just fillers. Bring me a platter of Fish! Excellent friendly service in a rustic structure in Red Fork, Oklahoma on the Mother Road!

Arrived at Billy Rays and greeted with a friendly staff member. We ordered the Half Rack of ribs with french fries, coleslaw, and corn on the cob. All served with a slice of bread, dill pickle chips and a banana pepper. Service was quick and our server was awesome. The Ribs were tasty and the larger sized ribs were moist and tender. However, the smaller two ribs were a bit dry and chewy. The coleslaw was excellent, fries were good and fresh cooked. Corn had a bit of a sour taste, which was immediately replaced with sincere apologies. We opted to skip a replacement offer. Staff were extremely friendly and we will keep them on our return list.

We stopped in to Billy Ray's on the way out of town for an overnighter in OKC. It was going to be well past 8pm before we hit OKC and I didn't want to eat that late. As it happened, traffic on the highway was a parking lot due to the interchange construction, so I jumped off to SW Blvd to take the "short cut". Seeing Billy Ray's was still open, we opted to get a bite to eat there.Overall, it was a fairly good experience. The staff were great. Friendly, always checking on us, made us feel welcome.The Wife got a 2 meat combo with tabouli and baked beans, while I went with The Assortment, which was chopped brisket, sausage, ribs and catfish, also with tabouli and baked beans.Overall, the food was pretty good. The sausage was hands down the best thing on the plate, with the catfish a close second. While quite good, the catfish piece went in about 3 bites, so that was a bit of a letdown. The ribs (all 2 of them) were pretty fair. Once was a little dry, but the other one made up for it. The brisket was more or less a filler, as it really didn't have much flavor to it at all. The tabouli and beans were outstanding.The Wife, as usual, had eyes far bigger than her belly, and ate about 1/3 of hers, so I also got to have a go at the pulled pork and bologna. Both of which were also pretty fair. The pulled pork had a decent flavor, but was fairly dry, a chronic condition with pulled pork it seems. The bologna was well flavored and seemed to be lightly smoked and thinly sliced.The one thing that struck me odd, being a veteran of many a BBQ joint was the total absence of BBQ sauce on any table. Not one table had a bottle of sauce, and the pulled pork could have really benefitted from it. I didn't ask for any because there were only a handful of bites left, so I'm not dinging the server... I just found it odd.Overall, Billy Ray's is a pretty good place. I think the AYCE catfish would an awesome thing to try, since the one lone, skinny piece I did have was pretty good.Not sure I'd make this a destination from Owasso, but if I happened to be in the neighborhood, I wouldn't say no.

People were nice, however the brisket in my chopped brisket sandwich was pretty flavorless and dry, the bun fell apart almost immediately. I just didn't find anything, including their sauce, particularly appealing. I think we were in and out in about 15-20 minutes. Didn't finish our meal.

The catfish will change your life and the barbeque is good with great wait staff and its very clean. Please come to Iowa!!!

Awesome BBQ one of the best in town Must see if your out of town. Catfish is the best!

first time eating here and it didn't disappoint. the catfish is unbelievable but so is the ribs, sausage and brisket. potatoes salad was great and okra also. can't say enough about this food here. thank you . if that doesn't get you to come here the waitresses are awesome, friendly and old school, so great!!!
