My husband and I got a family membership to Aspen several years ago, and now our annual renewal is too cheap to go anywhere else. Aspen is a nice gym with lots of equipment options and plenty of room, but there are some areas which could use improvement. First, the "ladies only" section of the gym is very small with limited equipment and free weights limited to a few dumbbells in scarce supply if anyone else is using the area. The machines seem a little outdated and don't offer much variety. I rarely use the ladies only section, preferring the main gym for a full workout. The cardio area has a lot of treadmills, stationary bikes, and elliptical trainers. There seem to always be enough treadmills, but ellipticals can be in short supply if you go during peak times, like after 5:00 when the masses are off work, or any time in January, before New Year's Resolutions wear off. The only stations available on the TVs in the cardio area are ESPN and Fox News, neither of which provide me with any inspiration to go the extra mile -- literally.A big problem is the heating and air conditioning. In the summer, the gym is often sweltering. Several years ago they tried to remedy this by installing "Big A$$ Fans." That's really what they are called--but they didn't do a lot of good--if any. Those are my complaints, but the gym is spacious with quality equipment. They offer an indoor pool, basketball courts, child care, tanning, massages, sauna, spinning theater, and a number of group fitness classes. If you're looking for a gym in Edmond or Oklahoma City, Aspen is worth a try.

Absolutely do not join this gym unless you're looking to get items stolen and a pathetic management that doesn't do anything about it and leaves items in the gym needing fixing for months. Had somebody cut into my locker with bolt cutters and steal all my clothes which had my car keys in them (this cost me $100 to replace the key) and then their corporate office never once would respond to me when I tried to communicate with them to get my money back for my membership and to be reimbursed for my losses.
