WOW! Just WOW! I love everything about Akai. The decor, the service, the cocktails, and of course the food! The price point is definitely up there, but worth the cost of admission. The inside is quaint and the tables are rather close, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. The subtle attention to detail with the plate ware, how the napkins are folded, and restroom just makes every turn an elevated experience. I cannot wait to go again!

This was some of the best food in Oklahoma. I'll be back to try sushi, sashimi, and nigiri next time. We stopped in for some late night bites, and everything was fresh, flavorful, and out of this world delicious. The music and vibe was on point. I felt like I was on vacation in Miami or LA. The cocktail was perfectly balanced, the Wagyu nigiri absolutely changed my life. Next time I will order double. It melted like butter. I have two points of feedback: fix the phone...I tried calling for over 2hrs to try and get a reservation, and it went straight to voicemail, and we are talking about 7pm onwards. I got there and the phone is a handheld phone that was off the charger and clearly dead. How did the host not realize that the phone not ringing all night was abnormal? They could have been a lot busier if people could book a spot. Second point would just be the speed of service. Granted, we did go in an hour before close, but I was hoping to get things moving and grooving a little faster. We didn't need for anything, though. Our server was lovely, teamwork was great, our drinks were never low. It still gets a 50 out of 10 for me. This place rocks!

Came on a Friday night with friends and was able to get a table quickly. Inside was very romantic ambiance with dim lighting but pretty loud due to how full the place was. I saw there was a private room in the back near the restroom too. Tried to order happy hour but it's only for bar seatings which we didn't know but will go next time! Got matcha matcha cocktail which was delicious and strong! Will def get again and Tokyo lights which was also flavorful and fruity. Started with otoro sashimi and a5 wagyu nigiri. Both so buttery and delicious! Bayou'd salmon was good with fish eggs which made it have a salty kick and Wagyu fried rice was tasty with some crunchy bites. We also tried the vegan brownie and green tea creme brulee! Overall had a good and belly was full! Will come back to try other things

What an incredible night! Dined here for date night and had the best experience. Everything we tried was exquisite and unlike any other sushi place I have tried in the city. We had a reservation, but by accident, it was for the wrong night. The hostess was very kind about the mistake and accommodated us at a counter table in the bar area. This worked nicely as we were seated by the large windows and had a good view of their beautiful, red colored bar.We started out with a floral sake and the seaweed trio. I have only ever tried one kind of seaweed, so this was an exotic treat and one I recommend. We enjoyed miso soup while we waited for our rolls. Yummy as always. The rolls were incredible and quite filling. I cant remember which ones we tried but it was probably the best sushi I've had in OKC. We were delightfully surprised to be greeted by the restaurant manager during our experience. Warm, friendly and enjoying life!! I can definitely say it well reflected in the staff and ambiance of this establishment. Great to see business owners with passion and ownership like that with employees that love their job! I can definitely say this is my new favorite spot for sushi and one I recommend to everyone I know.

An upscale sushi restaurant in Wheeler district was not on my bingo card for this year. The restaurant is beautiful on the inside. This might be one of the finest sushi restaurants in OKC that don't skimp on quality. I love the creativity of the sushi and how fresh everything is. We wanted to try the entrees too so I ordered the wagyu rib fried rice. A little sweeter than I liked but it was delicious. The meat was so tender. I honestly thought I would get to take some home but the portion was just enough for 1 person. Cocktails were okay, mine was different. The taste was something I was not used to. The staff do make you feel welcome. The owner seated us and then another staff would check on us. Worth the splurge.

Over the weekend, I got to try the new AKAI sushi spot and it was everything that I thought it would be and more. The menu was extensive (in a curated, good way), they had rolls w/ no Salmon (I'm allergic), and best of all - they had a NA espresso martini called NA-tini I highly recommend you go for their late night happy hour and sit at the bar for a good time OR a table for large groups. Whatever you do, make a reservation because they fill up quick!

The omakase was amazing!!! The fish was fresh and delicious. We got two different rolls but the one my husband and I agreed was better was the shogun! We also got the tropic thunder which was okay. It was a little too heavy in sauce. The taco was our least favorite dish. I wouldn't get it again. I did enjoy the tomato ponzu in it a lot. I could drink that sauce up. Service was good. Very attentive. We sat at the sushi bar. It was nice. I wish I could had seen more of them making the sushi but the view wasn't clear.

The food here is great! Everything is really fresh and the speciality rolls are well curated. I LOVED the kimchi butter edamame as an appetizer. The vibe is cute and I loved the special touches like the samurai jacket napkin. But the BEST part was the service. I feel like everyone who worked here was kind, hardworking, and excited to help and service you. I don't ask for much when going out but the staff was above and beyond even in small ways that we didn't ask for. I haven't had good service like that in a while.

Adding another review to Akai Sushi after it has opened or officially had its grand opening - and sharing about how their sushi is incredible. Also tried their udon which I didn't get to try last time which was also great. Their chicken karaage, sushi pizza and tuna sashimi were also excellent. Top notch service and again ultra-cool interior ambience. Highly recommended!
