I've only had to use them a couple times and I would use them again. Great dispatch service. Friendly and accommodating. On my first use, I had scheduled for an 8 am pickup, but then that morning, I was able for an earlier pickup and they got someone to me right away. The second time I called, they told me it may take about 25 minutes to get to me. So they did let me know there would be a delay. Both times, the drivers were courteous. I would use them again in the future.

I needed transportation and was never able to talk to anyone at A-1 as they never answered their phone. An answering machine picked up the call every time, left a message every call, they never returned my calls. I was left stranded for hours before I found a ride. A-1 doesn't seem to be in business any longer. They were the only taxi service left in Norman, Ok and if they have gone out of business, then Norman has no local taxi service any more.

The four stars are for the drivers and the service. The late night dispatcher (after midnight) , or at least the one who worked at 12:10am 1/30/2016 gets none.

A-1 taxi is a locally owned service that runs like a typical car service of yore. No website, no email requests. You call; they come. We took a cab about 20 miles from hotel to Norman for about $60 with tip. Kind of pricey, but the driver was friendly and ready to pick us up whenever we wanted. He was helpful in pointing out landmarks of interest, too. Nice guy.

It's not as if I don't appreciate local businesses. I do - which is why I gave A-1 a chance. As an out-of-town businessman who wanted to enjoy a few cocktails and watch some hoops, I thought that the prudent thing to do would be to call a taxi to safely enjoy my evening. I called the dispatcher at a quarter past midnight to have a taxi pick me up for my mile-and-a-half ride back to my hotel near I-35. Understand that this was a quiet Tuesday night. After two phone calls and an hour plus wait a taxi finally picked me up. All I ask of a company that finds itself, for whatever reason, unable to provide expected service, is a brief, polite apology and a recommendation for another service capable of satisfying my needs. Instead of an hour plus wait, a sincere "I'm sorry," and the phone number of another company to provide taxi service would have rendered a Yelp accolade instead of a rebuke.

I was picked up in a cab that REEKED of cigarette smoke. I smelled it the moment I was loading my luggage into the trunk because the driver didn't get out of the car to assist with that. I asked the driver if he was smoking in the cab and he said yes. It was 430 in the morning and I didn't have time to get back out of the cab and call another--so out of necessity I road to the airport with my window down--in 35 degree weather. The driver was polite and apologized for the smoke issue--but that did nothing to resolve my burning eyes, or the fact that my clothes and hair reeked like smoke upon arrival, and certainly didn't resolve my coughing and wheezing. I contacted dispatch and left a message for a manager to call me.
