I first tried Korean food at a restaurant when I was in the Army near Newport News Virginia. I'll never forget my perception of the foreign-ness to the food. I remember there was a lot of meat and a fried egg cracked on top. That was over 30 years ago. I tried a lot of different Korean food since with favorites including Bulgogi, and all the meats...Today, I find myself here at Ohsun Banchan for Lunar New Year. I find myself thinking about what a change this has become from my original perception and understanding of Korean food. We got the Bulgogi that came with 3 banchan. My wife loves everything pickled, and I try... I like the cucumbers, but the rest isn't my thing. I want to clarify, I do like Kimshi, just not all things pickled. The Bulgogi and the purple rice was lightly seasoned, but very delicious. I would season more, but I do think we as Americans overseason. Great experience. Thank you Ohsun Banchan.

Gluten free Korean!Bibimbap adapts to season. Fall bowl has squash and different meat options!Spicy tofu is fine, not overly spicy. Salmon crackers were yummy, but not worth $15 for the serving. Lots of fun non-alc drink options (they have alcohol too). Vegan glass noodles have a good portion size.I love the vibe of the inside, perfect for a lunch break! Warm yet bright lighting and high ceilings. Staff is kind.

We tried this place out this past February but just now getting to writing a review.Atmosphere: 5/5Very clean, hip interior. Adequate seating when we went. You order at the counter and find a seat.Service: 4/5Service was good, nothing that was exceptional but they were friendly. None of the staff were Korean/Asian, so if you go in expecting to speak Korean to the workers, that won't work (just wanted to mention that in case your native language isn't English).Food: 2/5We were extremely disappointed - my boyfriend and I are Korean, and this is in no way reflective of real Korean food (atleast the dishes we had). My chicken bibimbap was ok, but my boyfriend's bulgogi braised beef (don't have a picture) was extremely dry and is in no way an accurate representation of what bulgogi should taste. He had a hard time finishing his dish. I think we were extra discontent because of the price point - for two dishes and one side order, it came out to whopping ~$60 (can't exactly remember the price but I'm certain it was that much, my jaw dropped when I heard our total). We are quite astounded at the amount of positive reviews of this place. If you want authentic Korean food, this is not the place to go. I recommend making the trip down to Federal Way for that. I noticed that a lot of these reviews are predominantly from non-Korean people, so take them with a grain of salt.Location: 2/5Located in Pioneer Square - parking is difficult. It's expected in this area. I want to give this place a 2.5 but I will bump it up to 3 stars.

A very cute, aesthetic Korean deli located in Pioneer Square in Seattle. I came here for a quick lunch but I think it's perfect place for everyone because They have 100% vegan dishes and delicious Korean rice. For some reason Korean rice tastes better than some other rice to me.100/10 for their food, services and decorations

Ohsun Banchan is such a cute little shop! In addition to having a ton of banchan and dishes you can order, they also have a mini mart inside with various ingredients, tea, chopsticks, and more. We ended up just grabbing some banchan to go, so we can make some korean rice bowls at home, and they were all great! We got kimchi, cucumber kimchi, tofu and broccoli, and the mayak eggs. I love the cucumber kimchi and tofu and broccoli! The tofu and broccoli is pretty light, but I love it like that. I'm a bit picky about kimchi and prefer sweeter kimchi, and theirs is decently sour. It wasn't my fave, but again I'm particular about kimchi! My partner really liked the kimchi. Definitely will be back to grab some more banchan and try their bowls!

Solid Korean place in Pioneer Square! We had the bibimbap. Very, very fresh, and good flavor! Tofu was perfectly done. There are quite a few vegan options on the menu, which is really nice. Next time we will try out the banchan, which are all vegan.Great location, and nice inside. Good seating. Make sure to check out the bathroom -- groovy lighting, but what's behind that little door?!?Probably my only complaint is that it's a little pricey. But the ingredients are all very fresh, and the portions are large.Hours are great, too -- they open late enough that you can have an early dinner if you have plans somewhere else later. We will be back!

I wish I could do 4.5 stars here!!!! I came here twice now and both times has met/exceeded my expectations. This place does banchans that you typically can get at restaurants but in bulk or at like hmart, but higher quality, in my opinion. We gotten a couple of things here and I can see myself coming back. The place is really nice and bright and the people are pretty nice. They have food where you can order as well as a refrigerated section where you can do fast take outs.Kimbap - pretty solid - I like the interesting sauce that they have to go a long with it. My only critique was that it was a little loosely wrap so it fell apart after being in my car on the way home.Japchae and marinated squid -- both are super good, you can definitely tell they use high quality ingredients for these and prices are not bad either. Love the flavor and texture of both.I definitely want to try their other dishes and see what they come up next.Parking in pioneer square is a pain but I think that is expected already.

Expensive, even for Seattle. I was excited to check out Ohsun Banchan Deli & Cafe for lunch, as this Korean spot is near my office and I love Korean food. But my lunch was incredibly pricey, especially for lackluster food. I visited on a Thursday around lunch time and the place was pretty busy, with many people dining in or getting takeout. The size of the eatery is a decent size for casual dining, such as lunch. But if you're planning for a group outing, you best come soon after it opens. This is the kind of spot where you order and pay at the counter and wait for your food to be prepared for pickup when it's called. I ordered the spring bibimbap and added beef bulgogi, with the gochujang sauce. It was about 10-15 minutes for my food to be ready, which I didn't mind. The spring bibimbap included purple rice, roasted zucchini, garlicsoybean sprouts, snap pea microgreens, roasted bell peppers, shredded purple cabbage and perilla leaves. All of these ingredients were good, but $17 is steep. And then when you add protein, or in my case, beef bulgogi for an extra five bucks, then you better hope it's worth the money. But sadly, it was not. The beef bulgogi was very, very dry. Because of so, the taste was bland, so the gochujang sauce served as a saving grace rather than to complement the entrée. The meal wasn't bad, but it's not $22-before-tax-and-tip-good. Not at all. I will not be ordering the beef bulgogi again. In fact, I may just come back to grab already-prepared banchan items as they have a case for choosing. But I'm hesitant to get another meal here for how expensive it is. Oy.

Come to Ohsun almost every other week. Had our first Melting Pot lunch here with a group from work where we share about our cultures. The back table was perfect for us six. Service is always so friendly and helpful as people try to make decisions with a cuisine they haven't tried before. Joelle is the best always a smile and friendly greeting making everyone feel at home. We each ordered snacks entree then we added the Kimbap and Japchae to share. Everyone enjoyed their meal some could handle the spice a little more than others. We don't work to far so hopefully I've crested fans who will return!

Such a gem in Pioneer Square/Seattle! Highly recommend - all the food I've had is great - a lot of fun options and menus change seasonally, there's always something fun to try. Really great to-go banchan options which is incredible. Love that it's Korean without strict definitions of what that has to look like, very flavorful and fun. Recently learned that they offer cooking workshops. I took a kimchi class this spring and highly recommend. Practical instruction/tips were approachable, we left with our creations, recipes for future reference, and full stomachs since they provide a full meal as well. Top notch team- super friendly and warm. The space is beautiful and unique and feels very welcoming. Stop in, sign up for a workshop! Ohsun is def a space with a lot of heart, good eats, and community-centered.
