Awesome for a museum cafe, but maybe I went during an off hour because I felt like the fry bread was a little stale and not super freshly fried. The seating and area is lovely though, and I like the offerings that are not your usual run of the mill cafe. The cedar blackberry tea was okay but lacking in flavor and I couldn't really taste the "cedar" part of it.

This place is amazing. It's a little garage in the museum with such good vibes. The frybread is delicious. Definitely try the tacos or sweet fry reads. The nutella ended up just being chocolate sauce but still so delicious.

We came to the Burke museum for the first time and found Off the Rez has a cafe here! I'd heard of their food truck so I was excited to finally try it out. It's located at the entrance of the museum so you dont have to pay to go into the cafe, but the parking lot is on campus so you have to pay unless it's Sunday. I went with the bbq pulled pork Indian taco while my husband ordered the classic chili Indian taco. The bbq pulled pork was perfect, and I really like the fluffy frybread. One taco alone is actually pretty big and quite filling. The chili one had that classic chili flavor that mixed with the slaw and sauces in this frybread taco really nicely and I would definitely get another one based on taste alone.

Amazing amazing amazing fry bread! I made it a point to go to this spot while visiting Seattle because I had never had North American indigenous fry bread/bake and this restaurant did NOT disappoint! We had some lunch here then toured the Burke museum and it was an amazing experience (the food; the museum was great too though lol). They open up the window wall for fresh air so it is a really nice environment as well.

Four of us were visiting the cherry blossoms at the University of Washington Quad and needed a little mid-morning snack. This small café is located at the Burke Museum and was bustling on this particular Saturday. They offer a small menu of breakfast options, Indian (Native American) tacos, sides and sweets. Many of the items feature their homemade fry bread. We each ordered a SWEET FRY BREAD ($5) which came with a choice of lemon curd, honey, cinnamon sugar, Nutella or jam (strawberry or seasonal). When I heard the seasonal option was passionfruit, I went with that. Our four pieces of bread with topping totaled $22 (including tax), which is quite pricey. A single piece of bread without toppings costs $4. The bread is served hot and fresh right out of the fryer. It was soft inside with a nice chewy exterior and surprisingly tasted just like a donut! The cup of passionfruit jam had the consistency of a thin sauce and I dipped bites of bread into it. While it was on the sweeter side, the ripe passionfruit flavor shined. The others in my group enjoyed the lemon curd and cinnamon sugar on their bread. On separate occasions, my sister had their bison tacos (which use fry bread instead of tortillas) and their chili, both of which she enjoyed. I would love to try either of those the next time I visit. Considering how busy it was, our order was ready pretty quickly in under 10 minutes. Unfortunately, other than that, I wouldn't consider the service to be that great. The cashier was basically expressionless when he processed our order, and same with the employee who called out to us when our food was ready. No smile nor energy from either of them, so I'm not sure what was going on. I hope they were just having an off day. Despite Off the Rez being located on the college campus, this appears to be a spot that both students and non-students enjoy.

I had to do a bit of research to find these guys. I used to eat at their taco truck way back in the day. Lol. It was so worth another visit. The feybread is just so soft and full of flavor. Honestly better than using a shell since it holds all the ingredients better and is more filling.I'm glad they are on the uw campus, they have a great view and amazing decor. They have some a long way. I forsure enjoyed the location before, during, and after my meal. It was a hot day and the hole front of the Cafe was open. I was able to keep cool. My food was nothing short of amazing. Their Bison taco is currently my favorite, but their other options are also very taste. It's never easy to decide on just one. You have to order your food at the front and pick it up so I wouldn't say the service is all that great, but It works. There aren't exactly a bunch of people working at the location at any given time. Also don't expect the food to come out quick. Be prepared to enjoy the area for a bit.

Heard about Off the Rez for some time as a food truck. They had such success that they were able to open up a brick and mortar, and with the Burke Museum no less! (FYI, no Burke Museum entry ticket necessary to eat here.)They serve Indian (or indigenous/ native) tacos, using the infamous fry bread. They have 3 standard taco options (beef, veggie or chicken chili; braised bison; and pulled pork) along with breakfast options (only till 11 am), side salads, and cafe options like scones, espresso, tea, coffee. The space surprised me. More like a little Starbucks cafe than a restaurant, so very fast casual. Order at the cashier, grab a seat. At lunch, the line cuts through the center right to the door, so the space is really too small for the restaurant but thankfully there are tables in the Burke lobby. I got the chicken chile Verde taco but asked to sub the toppings for their cole slaw. Glad I did because the slaw was awesome. They gave me a lot which I appreciated as a veghead. The chicken chile Verde had a good flavor, was juicy, lightly salted, but could have used a bit more kick. Thankfully they had a habanero hot sauce that gave me just what I needed. Truthfully the Chile Verde was not different tasting from anywhere else but everything together was pretty satisfying. My dining partners got the BBQ pulled pork and the bison. We all left pretty pleased with our first experience with fry bread and Indian tacos. Each fry bread taco was around $6-$7. They were a pretty good size for a light lunch. Wouldn't mind coming back to try a different item if I'm in the area.

A must try for the fry bread alone! Tried the fry bread tacos, bison wild rice bowl, and sweet fry bread. The bison meat in the bowl was amazing and the fry bread taco was DELICIOUS. Long line even on a weekday, but it moved pretty quick. There was a little mix up with the order but they handled it very well, so no big deal. Not a huge space, so it was crowded but we did manage to find a place to sit.
