obis sushi is a restaurant that I ran into by chance on one of my many deliveries through the San Diego area 3 years ago. the first thing that caught my attention was the nice atmosphere of the restaurant. it gives you a very home comfortable feeling that gives you peace of mind and really soothes you in to be able to enjoy your meal. the music in the restaurant is present but at a low volume so as not to be intrusive when you have friends with you and are enjoying a good talk with each other all the while relishing in your meal. This brings me to the main part, the food. The food is nothing short of amazing and very generous when it comes to portion sizes. While sushi is the main calling card, they provide a good amount of alternatives for those looking for other options like yakisoba katsudon plates curry and so on. My personal favorites are the ex-chargers roll and the dynamite roll. They also carry a bevy of alcoholic beverages from asahi to Sapporo hot sake and a selection of wine (That's just based off the time I ordered a plum wine). Finally from the owner to the waitresses, the restaurant staff provide a top notch service and are always in communication with the diners informing them of seasonal specials and providing changes to the menu that are within reason of the meal options being provided. They stay on top of providing refills without keeping you waiting and all around make you feel at home with a very social personality all the while holding a strong sense of professionalism not really seen in many other restaurants. If you get a chance and are in the area I would whole heartedly recommend you try this place out. it Is a little tucked away to The right of the aero dr freeway exit and looks like a hole in the wall shop from the outside, however it's anything but in this case.

Decent sushi. The edamame was just ok. The crispy roll was crispy and good. I liked the crunchy tuna roll the best and the dragon roll tastes fresh. Service was good.

JUST OK.(3 stars)- FOOD: ok- PRICE: ok- SERVICE: ok- AMBIANCE: okThis will be a medicore review for Obi's (Ok) Sushi. Didn't come here with expectation's and left with the same entered feeling. :: FOOD ::Played it safe and ordered basic.HAMACHI nigiri ($7.5) - yellowtail. Presentation was beautiful with a carved butterfly carrot but taste was just ok. It is a safe fish to order and nothing about me wowed me except the presentation. RECOMMEND LEMON DROP ROLL ($19.5) - yellowtail, avocados, crab, gobo, cucumbers, radish sprouts, salmon, thin sliced lemon, Tobin, green onions, spicy mayo. Ordered this because it's familiar and safe. Again, wasn't wowed by anything and the flavors were just ok. I felt like there was a lot more sauce than needed but maybe it's needed because it lacks in taste. RECOMMEND Left hungry but didn't want to spend any more money here when all was "just ok". Until the next review...

Met a friend there for lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the food and environment. A very attractive dining room with light wood walls and mostly booth seating. There was a wide selection of rolls that were reasonably priced from about $12 to $18. Service was friendly and prompt. There are call buttons on each table to summon a server if needed. Most of the rolls had artificial crab, so there are many fewer choices if you want to avoid that. But the rolls were good-sized and the ingredients tasted very fresh. I would definitely go back.

Walking in I was immediately impressed at the cleanliness of this place. We came around lunchtime and we were told to go ahead and find a seat anywhere we liked. Fair enough. Khoa took care of us that day. ***Side note, the tables had buzzers whenever you needed your servers but they were attentive to where you didn't need it and not where it became intrusive either. My son was raving about the quality of the food and I was kind of wary because my go to is always the food court at Mitsuwa....not too pricy and delicious. But although the prices were a little on the higher end, the food was great and the portions were sufficient for the price. For appetizers we got:-Garlic edamame: not overly oily or garlicky , topped with roasted garlic bits. Sooooo good.-Fried oysters: I want to go out on a limb and say these were the best fried oysters I've ever had! Perfect crisp on the outside and the oysters just melted in your mouth! Hardly any chewing involved! For entrees we got:-Super house sushi roll: I'm not really a Philly cheese person in my sushi rolls because many times it overpowers the entire roll itself but it was just a hint and everything just blended well!-Chicken Katsu curry rice bowl and chicken katsu udon: both were winners and the thing about the katsu was it was perfectly crisp on the outside with very little breading.-Soft Shell crab temaki: I didn't take a pic cuz I devoured it. It was the best soft shell crab I ever had!The trend here is they have frying down to a perfection. Like I said it is pricier than most, but the quality of the food is reflective of the pricing.

This sushi spot is tucked away in the corner of a shopping plaza. There is plenty of parking in the lot and the staff was friendly and seated us right away. There is plenty of seating. The restaurant feels old and was completely empty aside from 3 other people when we went for dinner.Though we were seated right away, it took a while for them to take our orders. I requested wasabi and ginger (I LOVE ginger) and the waiter told me I had to wait for my sushi?? Anyway, we ordered pizza roll, shark attack roll, salmon maki, miso soup, garlic edamame, and sashimi. Overall, the food was mediocre and quite overpriced. The fish didn't taste fresh. My friend and I also got really bad food poisoning from here that lasted a couple days. I definitely don't recommend this place to people when looking for sushi in the area.

The sweetest people helped me with my to-go lunch order today and I wished I could have dined in because it wasn't super busy so you could get special attention with the sushi chefs. My Ninja Plate was a perfect variety of sushi and nigiri: spicy, sweet, and simple. I saw they have much more specialty rolls and maki so another day I'll come and dine here for lunch to experience it all fresh. I would definitely come back knowing the service was amazing, you get seated fast, and they offer lots of options including lunch special bento boxes.

This is my go to place since it's near my house and the prices aren't too bad. The quality is good, i usually get the shogun combo since it comes with a roll, some nigiri and some sashimi. The servers are always nice and when I order to go there's hardly any wait time.
