Yasai Produce Market

Yasai is conveniently located close to Philz, Safeway, La Farine, Wisteria, and other dining locations. It's very organized and offers many options for fruits, vegetables, fresh noodles, Asian snacks, Asian sauces, drinks, and dried goods. While small, many options are available. When there was a shortage of Sriracha, Yasai was the one spot I could find large bottles of it. They offer fresh, in-season produce and keep it maintained well-- while I was there, one of the employees refreshed vegetables as they needed re-filling.

Great local market with fresh seasonal fruits and veggies. I always enjoy stopping by and exploring what's on the shelves Great service and always something new to try!

Thank you Yasai for being the best neighborhood produce and grocery store in Rockridge/Elmwood! So appreciate getting my fresh vegetables and seasonal fruits. AND the best damn Asian condiment section ever!!

Yasai Market is an absolute gem of a store, on a very "European" style block consisting of a real butcher shop, a ridiculously good bakery, and Yasai for your produce, milk, and chocolate peanut clusters (all kitchen staples).The staff is friendly, and the store is well kept. I'm not sure why anyone would need to go to Safeway, outside of having everything in one spot (albeit Safeway quality, read; not as good or eclectic). I appreciate Yasai, they've been around for a very long time, and I wish them continued success until they decide to retire and live a happy retirement. Thank you Yasai! Peanut clusters, a fresh piece of fruit, and a nice smile from one of the employees at your store always makes my days that much better. Rock on!

An excellent spot to grab local produce and snacks! The prices are really reasonable and they stock good quality fruits and veggies. They often have sales on their produce and will advertise them by placing their sale items out in front of the store. They also carry a nice variety of nuts and local snacks. I like coming in and perusing their snack section because I usually always find something new to try.They carry organic, gluten free, and dairy free items too. I've purchased a variety of different fruits and vegetables here and for the most part, their items are fresh. There have been a few occasions where I've received bad and/or spoiled fruit. The good thing is, it's really easy to go back and exchange or return the items. This has only happened a couple of times, but I would advise you to double check your items before you leave (especially the fruit).I've never had to wait in a ridiculously long line and they're produce is far more superior to the hellhole across the street (*cough*SAFEWAY*cough*). The people working here are super friendly and helpful. I haven't been coming here as often as I used to, but it's nice to know that this market is around when I need it.

I needed just a few Japanese items and was not going to the "Berkeley Brawl" markets. Yasai's was pretty empty. The kamaboko was sold frozen and who knows for how long. The one Daikon there was as limp as a... so I passed on it. Ended up with Bull Tonkotsu Sauce and Sesame Oil (pure). Paid a bit more, but avoided a crowded store. Made it to 4 stars based on the nice and helpful staff!

A welcoming market with fresh produce, plus super helpful and friendly staff! It's wonderful to be on a first name basis with the owner, and to have heartfelt conversations when I come to shop. I so appreciate that at Yasai Produce Market I am treated as a person as well as a customer. One of my many favorite items is their freshly ground peanut butter. Yum! And I can always find Daikon radish, avocados, varieties of citrus fruit, and whatever else is in season. I also appreciate the many kinds of tofu and tofu products available. The market is partially open air, too, so that puts me at ease in terms of my health, with COVID infections on the rise again. Thank you, Yasai Produce Market for being my neighborhood go-to place!

I started shopping at Yasai Market in 2005, when I moved into the neighborhood. I love their produce, way better than from the Safeway across the street and, if memory serves, they have better prices as well. I've lived in other parts of Oakland since then, even Orinda, but it's always worth the drive to do my shopping at Yasai.The owners are great and they always have the nicest people working there.
