Wood Tavern

Had a great dinner here with parents . Service was great and the food was amazing. The pork chop was so delicious! The seafood stew was flavorful with a kick! The scallops were seared perfectly. We will definitely be back!

Oh, how I love Wood Tavern with its delicious food and warm atmosphere. I have been here so many times and have thoroughly enjoyed my experience every time, but especially loved my recent visit on my mom's birthday. My family and I (party of 8) visited on 1/3 to celebrate my mom's birthday. Although we had to wait over 30 mins past the reservation time to be seated, the spectacular service made all of us completely forget the inconvenience. Our waitress Sitome was truly an angel. She was so attentive, bringing us bread whenever we'd run out and filling our waters meticulously. Most importantly, she was SO knowledgeable about the ingredients in each dish on the menu. One of the people in our party has Celiac disease, another is vegetarian, and another one has a nut allergy. Sitome went through the entire menu with each of the aforementioned guests and told them what they can and cannot order, and offered so many modifications to accommodate their restrictions. It is often a struggle to go out to eat with food allergies, and she made us all feel so at ease with her exceptional knowledge and willingness to help. She even went as far as offering a dessert option from Southie next door for the gluten-free guest, even though that restaurant was closed. She had to get the key for the restaurant, grab the dessert herself, and prepare/serve it. She really went above and beyond. She even grabbed my camera and phone and was taking photos of us throughout the night. I cannot express enough how fabulous Sitome was - I could write about her all day.As for the food, it was delicious per usual. I ordered the scallops with risotto and finished off every last bite. We ordered several appetizers, but the standout to me was the brussels sprouts and sunchoke dish. The aioli on top was lemony, creamy, and tangy, and it was the perfect complement to the fried veggies. We ordered two of those, and had to order a third because they were such a hit. The mushroom gnocchi was also very delicious. For dessert, we ordered the pear cranberry napoleon, which was a showstopper! I don't even like napoleons that much, but Sitome insisted we try it and she was not wrong. The sticky date cake that my mom had was also delicious - and Sitome added a candle and a happy birthday sign as a nice touch. Overall, this was one of the best restaurant experiences I have had in a very long time. I have been a loyal Wood Tavern fan, and it continues to remain high in my personal restaurant ranks.

Food is great. Never even a mediocre entrée here, Constantly adding new delicious salad choices. Especially like their in-house made pastrami sandwich. Place gets crowded early, but the bar food service is great. There is a regulars cocktail and whiskey crowd that gathers around 4 PM into the dinner hour. Gets a bit noisier and even chaotic then. And you'll be engaged into some boozey conversation, perhaps not of your choice. Other than that, it's pretty convivial. Grab a table if you're not feeling sociable.

Food is freaking delicious. If is busy, be patient order some drinks and enjoy this place.

Walked in during lunchtime and got a table for two almost right away. The restaurant was bustling and boisterous. Had a really nice, joyful vibe. Staff had their hands full, but were friendly, attentive, and professional. We ordered the pastrami sandwich, liver pate, and pear and parsnip soup. All items were tasty. Would love to have dinner here one of these days but it seems like reservations are difficult to make unless far in advance. I hadn't expected that for a more casual restaurant.

Great atmosphere - the leak in the ceiling. A nice little spot to hang out and have drinks with a light brunch or dinner. Good for meeting up with friends.

The ribeye I ordered was just okay (I don't think it's worth the price). The service on the other hand, was great! The waiter kept checking on our table often. I also enjoyed my espresso martini!

Small and cute local restaurant. They always seem to be crowded so reservation is totally recommened. Parking in the area can be tricky especially during daytime, dinner time is just a little better, still a pain.It was a busy holiday week when we were there so service was slower than how we like it but it's ok, they were very friendly. The food makes it worth it and we would totally come back. Everything was perfectly cooked and the flavor was on point. I am a very harsh food critic but i had nothing to complain about the food. Normally i would do a closer review on each dishes but i think their menu change from time to time. Unless they change the cooks i don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

Same owner as The Wolf on Piedmont and do they ever have this format nailed. The food is flavorful and excellently prepared. Today, a rock cod sandwich paired perfectly with a Frog's Leap Sauv Blanc. Their wine list is always fairly priced. I often bring my own wine and pay corkage at places like this but at Wood Tavern, I don't bother. I always find a gem by the glass or bottle and save myself the trouble. The service is always just the right mix of crisp and friendly. College Ave parking is always challenging so rideshare if you can but spaces do open up if you're patient.
