This supermarket is located in Oakland Chinatown. Very reasonable price. I only come here when my husband drives here. We got four packs of tofu, sweet soft bean cake, and bok choy veggie all for $10.11. Not bad at all. We were in and out in about 10 minutes. There is cashier at the front entrance and also one in the back entrance. You have to know exactly what you are looking for as most workers there don't speak much English. But they work hard.

**This review is SOLELY about the Chinese BBQ station inside the supermarket.**WARNING to all of you....NEVER get the Chinese BBQ here. My family always comes to this place out of pure convenience because it's a "one-stop-shop" in Chinatown...but at the expense of quality. NEVER ONCE have I tasted acceptable Chinese BBQ from here. Often do they either overcook or rush to carve immediately after cooking, leading to EXTREMELY DRY meat. The roast pork/belly is ALWAYS dry like cardboard and bland, and we end up using it in a stir-fry to add some moisture back in. We got a roast duck for Mid-Autumn Festival yesterday, and again, it was extremely dry and bland because they carved it immediately right as it came out of the oven. And the guy carving it has no skill whatsoever, and the duck comes out looking like roadkill...skin half hanging off, chunks of dry duck breast sticking out six ways from Sunday...absolutely deplorable. There are definitely way better places around. Yeah yeah, this place is about a buck cheaper than the rest of Chinatown but at what cost? I wouldn't even eat that crap if it was 90% off. It's always crowded as hell with little old ladies running around shouting like it's a cattle call anyway. Avoid this nonsense at all costs!

When waiting for the last person to show up to shop in Oakland Chinatown, we had time to kill so we bumped into Won Kee Supermarket (WKS) after we parked our car. I noticed on Yelp it's average of 2.5 stars so I was skeptical...But after being raised in a Chinese community, I have low expectations so I was expecting a subpar experience but frankly, WKS is pretty good in my books. First of all, I was impressed with its covered area that had a decent produce selection where the offerings were bagged and nicely displayed. Pricing was considerably much lower than what I pay back at home and I'm always in awe of the pea shoots of its freshness and much lower prices. Second, the canned and packaged goods were also arranged nicely and I was impressed with the extensive selection. I saw many items that we don't have back at home. Furthermore, they also had fresh meats and live seafood, too. I was kinda sad where I saw live turtles though. I found the interior to be well kept as it didn't have an odor nor a dingy appearance. Customer service is what I expected from a Chinese business. It was somewhat disorderly when seeking assistance and standing in line to pay. Despite there were 2 distinct lines to pay, I witnessed elderly Chinese making their way to the front regardless people were standing in line. I waited patiently until it was my turn to check out as I found some Chinese snacks to bring home. WKS accepts plastic but it has a $20 minimum purchase. Overall, a somewhat impressive first experience shopping here at WKS. If I lived in this area, I'd be game to shop here regularly.

Won Kee is a Chinese grocery store that has mostly everything that you need from with fresh meats, live seafood, veggies, your usual Asian grocery necessaries, and more. They closed their small parking lot (I believe since Covid) and they put out boxes of fresh veggies there instead. Parking is very difficult here, since it is always busy in the area and parking is metered/street parking - if I cannot find parking, I usually would drop my grandma and mom off at the front, and I would circle around or find an area further away to park, until they are done and I will pick them back up at the front. The exterior looks small and tiny, but the interior is actually bigger than it looks from the outside. It is a bit dirty and kind of smells inside with bad service, but you do not come here for the ambience or service, so it is tolerable to some extent. The cashiers are very rude - also, make sure you check your receipts afterwards because a couple of them will try to overcharge you, then get mad at you, if you point it out, but the only downside is that the receipt is written in Chinese.

A bona-fide Chinese supermarket. They've got everything you could ever ask for. The meat is super fresh with some of the best meat prices I've found in the Bay.

Horrible line up system‼I could not wait to write this review of the awful experience I had today. Now I know why won kee has a 2 1/2 star review There were 3 cashiers. I was next in like and the lady behind me started a new line. The middle cashier closed and told me to move to the far right. The cashier on the left called the lady behind me and when I said I was next and I was in line before the lady behind me was even there. Awful service here. Go shop someplace else. I'd like to give this place zero star but otherwise I could NOT post this and people need to know this place is horrible

This is probably one of the busiest markets in Chinatown. It's just a crowd of people looking to buy the freshest fruits and vegetables at some of the lowest prices Chinatown has to offer. They also sell meat, seafood, a large selection of snacks and various small home goods but there weren't many people looking at these things. The lines can get quite long with people mostly buying baskets of fruits and vegetables. As long as there is no dispute over prices, the lines slowly moves along. It's like the cashiers have all the prices memorized in their heads and I'm sure the prices are constantly changing depending on what's in stock. I picked up a few Fuji apples for $0.69lb and a Hawaiian papaya for $4.59. I noticed that there's actually a line outside where you can pay. Most of these people were buying just 1 or 2 things so the line moved along quickly. There use to be a small parking lot but they now use that space to expand the area to sell more fruits and vegetables. Good luck trying to find street parking. There's a lot of cars that are double parked on the street.

Our family has been shopping here for a while, when my sisters visited us from other states, we recommended Won Kee Supermarket. On July 3rd, they shopped and spent a lot of money buying dried food. When a lady at the front cashier gave and recommended Dried Shrimp for sample. We bought 3lbs/3 bags $15 each. When we got home and opened the bags,OMG, the shrimps smelled like Bleach, very strong. We went back the next day and was rejected and got yelled at "Don't you have eyes and noses to smell" and will not give us the owner's name and cellphone number. How can we smell and touch the product when the bags were staple sealed? We went back for good attention but instead got yelled at and looked down. How can the owner sales product that is using Bleach to cover up? Can Yelp Officers investigate this place? Please do not buy products that are staple sealed and offering samples.
