Our company had a dinner at Wences - a large group, and everything went very well. We worked out the dinners ahead of time and they were very organized. They gave us little slips of paper with our pre-ordered dinner so when it was time to eat, the servers knew exactly where the food should go. The servers were all great, getting the drink orders and everything else - a very well run establishment. The boss was very happy and the people who attended all had nothing but good things to say about Wence's. We hope to come back again next year. And yes, the food was excellent. Management at Wence - be happy - more than one person from that dinner has said they're going back on their own - that's how much they enjoyed the food. And it all got rave reviews but the one dish people seemed to rave about the most was the salmon.A+

Well, Wence's Restaurant in Pleasant Hill brings a mixed experience. The space inside is spacious, though it can get quite loud, especially on a regular Monday evening. The outside patio is huge, which is great for a more relaxed vibe.Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. The Monterey Calamari was overly dry and over-fried, making it difficult to enjoy. The Shrimp Louie salad was especially disappointing - just a quarter of lettuce drenched in a heavy, unappetizing pink dressing, making it feel quite unhealthy. On a positive note, the lamb chops were absolutely delicious, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. The lobster chowder was another highlight - rich and tasty, definitely a standout. The service was attentive and pleasant, which helped elevate the overall experience. If it weren't for the service and a couple of good dishes, this would have been a much lower rating. Stars for the great service and a few tasty dishes made that made a difference.

I had made reservations yesterday, for 6 P.M. under the name Naomi. for my husband's birthday. I spoke with the hostess about making this very clear to the waitstaff. On whoever was going to be serving us at the time. It was our first time at this restaurant. I thought to give it a try. I had asked the hostess for a booth. However she sat us by four noisy girls that had too many drinks. When finally the waitress came, to take our order. I was not going to talk any louder to place my order so she could hear me. It's obvious that we were not the ones making all the noise. She did not offer to move us to a different table. Eye contact is extremely important in restaurant industry, serving or taking orders. That being said, as a certified culinary student in my past, I know this to be truth. It felt like everything was bent on timing , timing. We sat down, waitress did not say her name, that she would be the one taking care of us that evening. A quick run down of all the specials for that day. I do not do specials, especially since I know it's almost expired food that the restaurant is trying to get rid of. Seems like our waitress was just there to just take our order. Then once our food was delivered. She was nowhere to be found. So when we needed to go boxes, I had to flag down the other waitstaff. My husband said it did not feel like a birthday experience. Added salt on the wound, The hostess had failed to make it a point across the waitstaff. That it was his birthday, and forgot it at the very end. I mentioned it to our waitress, and she did take care of us at that time. The food was OK! Perhaps I've had better going to the cheesecake factory. And you can get crab and lobster. Not at the MP "market price." Which I think is extremely insulting to customers. Because your bill could probably end up anywhere up to $100 to $200 just for a crab or lobster. Every restaurant needs to have vegan options available. Please take out the feta off the beet salad. I do not do any type of stinky cheese. Years in cosmetology school stinky cheese smells like the shit underneath someone's toenails. The two don't go together. My husband said he wasn't feeling good after he sipped the drink he ordered. To add insult to injury, when my husband had changed his mind about not getting chorizo on his mac & cheese. Instead he opt for garlic bread which never arrived at our table. The menu selection is extremely over priced. Unless you're craving crab or lobster, stick with the appetizers, there just as big portions as Ordering the entrées. After all it was a very mediocre experience. I did want a different waitress. There was a younger waitress that helped us out at the very end. That was the highlight of the evening. Thanks to her, I would like to give this restaurant another try. However we will have to do a recap on my husband's birthday. He said he wanted a different experience & wants to go to Five Tacos & Beers.

My brother recommended this restaurant so we decided to try it out. Upon arrival, we noticed how bad parking was. We went today, on a Thursday evening, and finding parking was a challenge. There is a parking lot, but it was full. There is also street parking and that was filled up with cars too. I even noticed cars that were parked in locations that were probably not legit parking spots. Anyway, now I know next time, to expect horrible parking. We made a reservation early in the day. When we walked inside, we were greeted immediately and the host brought us to our table. Our server was very friendly and then another waiter brought us water. I ordered a half dozen raw steamboat oysters. The waiter said that it was the largest oysters they had. When it was served, it just looked like regular sized oysters like other places. I also ordered a special appetizer which was grilled cheese with prosciutto, grilled asparagus and this sweet sauce topped with raisins. That was delicious. My partner and son ordered Mac n cheese. I didn't get to try it but they enjoyed it. For our main courses, I ordered the special which was scallops with cauliflower and a white sauce. It was good. My partner ordered a Junior burger which wasn't Junior. My son ordered the lamb chops -- delicious. Lastly, we ordered 2 non-alcoholic drinks - which was a prickly pear drink with sparkling water. My partner ordered a drink that tasted like a Pina colada. That was good.Overall ambiance and dining experience was nice. The waiters emptied our table continuously to make space for our food and always checked on us. To everyone who would like to dine outside, there is outdoor seating with heated lamps available. Will definitely come back for their $1 oysters. I think that happens on Sundays but call first to make sure.

I love coming here and having happy hour in the outdoor patio. The inside of the restaurant is cozy and intimate but I prefer to be outside working on my laptop while sipping my cocktail and enjoying my happy hour oysters. They have a 3 course meal available if you come for an early dinner along with good prices on drinks and appetizers for happy hour. I don't think I've tried a bad dish yet (although I wasn't too big of a fan of the carbonara here). My favorite appetizers are the calamari, oysters and Mac & cheese, and the fish dishes are pretty solid for the entree choices. The servers and wait staff are quite attentive and they check on you often. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and the parking lot is kind of a pain with super narrow lanes but definitely worth checking it out!

I dined here for dinner while in town and enjoyed the good service, delicious food, and drinks. There are plenty of indoor and patio dining areas and a couple of bars (regular and oyster bars) to enjoy the relaxing yet lively atmosphere. We ordered a few starters and drinks; the oysters were fresh and tasty, and the ahi tuna tostadas were so good I could have eaten a couple of plates. The clam chowder was creamy and flavorful. The Dungeness Crab Stack was a fresh and filling dish. The lump crab was cooked perfectly, and the presentation was nicely executed. The house-made cocktails menu had a few eye-catching options. I tried the Maya-Thai because it had Licor 43 Liqueur (which I like), fruit juices, and walnut bitters, and it seemed interesting, but it was just okay. I would pass it up next time and try another house cocktail. The rest of the table enjoyed the drinks they ordered. Though we had reservations, we waited about 15-20 minutes for our table to be ready. We had a decent-sized party of nine, and it was busy, so it was a little wait. The noise level, however, was moderate to high, so conversing was challenging.Overall, we had a pleasant dining experience and would return for the drinks, to try new foods, and to enjoy the vibe.

Grabbed a quick lunch on Sunday at Wence's. It's was a late lunch and we were starving, so we went straight to the menu. Hubby had the Wences burger with crispy fries and I had the Ahi Tower as well as a house salad. Let me tell you. If you love fresh Ahi, you need to get this wonderful tower. The flavors of ginger, wasabi, mango all play a role in this perfect appetizer. I love having it as a lunch course with the house salad. Everything was fresh and delicious. Our server, Joaquin was attentive, knowledgeable, professional and personable. Thank you Wences for. a great lunch! See you soon!

Timing, timing. It's all about timing when I dine. Seated quickly, had reservation. Nice table, host plopped down the menus on the table and left in a haste. Wait person appeared, took drink and appetizer order. Boom! Appetizer was at our table in less than 5 minutes. Drink order followed after another 5 minute wait. Appetizer was great. Drinks were perfect. Wait person appeared to take soup/salad and entree order. Told us then about the specials. Took order.A few minutes go by and salad and soup arrive. French onion was perfect. Beat salad was the best I ever had, the wedge looked beautiful. Less than 5 minutes after the soup and salads arrived the main courses came to our table, which we sent back since we just started eating. Once the entrees came back they were great. Chicken piccata was perfect, shrimp scampi pasta was delish, lobster fettuccini was good, and the salmon all great. It was about the timing of the dinner that we couldn't give more stars. The staff seemed very green. I would've liked a more experienced staff to match the awesome food.
