Wayland's Meat Market

I'm a fan of deli sandwiches and Waylands hooks it up! Love pastrami's sandwiches and really enjoy Wayland's deli! Ever in the area, definitely worth checking out!

I've been coming here for a few years now. I tend to come for specialty meats that you won't necessarily find in mainstream grocery stores or that are less expensive than in the grocery store - head cheese (hot and mild), turkey necks and oxtails.The female owner is the one who regularly assists me. She is always efficient and never overcharges.Here's What I Think... If you're in the market for a specialty meat, give this place a try.

This place rocks if you need meat. The selection spanned beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and a surprisingly good selection of deli meats. My selection for the day was short ribs that I braised and let me say they were perfectly trimmed and in restaurant lingo "pan ready." The results are simply amazing. I got some loose pork sausage for breakfast and some ground beef too for making meatballs. While I'm trying not to consume so much meat, if I do, I want the best quality possible. Their offerings rival costlier specialty shops in swankier neighborhoods. I've paid double for the quality I get here. Regardless of small business or not, this place simply has great meats and exceptionally friendly service.

This is a store for meat eaters! Next time you're in Oakland, and you have a hankering to eat alligator, goat, rabbit, frog legs, venison, Hog head cheese or pork belly--this is a great place to check-out.I got some Chicken Boudin Sausage that they made fresh. It was delicious, and reasonably priced. Besides unusual meats, they carry the regular types that supermarkets carry. They alsipo have lower prices for bulk buying. However, I didn't notice organic meats or beef that is finished with grass instead of grain (that is my preference). That is why this isn't a place that I would usually shop. But the next time I want fresh Boudin Sausage or if I want something that is not available at a regular market--like alligator--I will definitely remember to go here!

Local meat shop with wide selection of meats! I have lived nearby for years and only checked this place out recently. I'm so glad I did! They have so many different cuts of meat available at fair prices. I saw all sorts of other fun things, like a pet goldfish lol, cheese, pickles, spices, and sandwiches! I have to come back to try the sandwiches. It feels good to support this local business. Make sure to check them out if you need meat!

I visited this shop while vacation in the Bay Area. The place was clean, there was ample free parking in the rear and quick access to I-580. They had the specialty item i was seeking. It was pricey but well worth every penny!

Do not buy your meats from a supermarket...buy your meats from Waylands. Better quality, better prices for what you get !

Wide variety of products. Reasonably priced fresh produce. Meets/exceeds Berkeley Bowl in many areas. Biggest plus...no need to negotiate I580 and the Emeryville, Berkeley, Albany flow of traffic. Win, win!!!
