Universal Bakery

I'm hooked! Panadería Universal is a welcoming, open, comfortable space to enjoy true Guatemalan foods. The staff is consistently attentive and helpful. What I like about coming here is that the bread and food are delicious. The food is prepared true to authentic recipes--so many I eat here because I want to eat meals I had at home or when I got the chance to visit family in Guatemala. The bread is also notable. I love having pan frances with my breakfast. And the Platanos are beautifully prepared.

Universal Bakery currently serves three locations: San Bruno & San Francisco (2). The menu is simple, yet the food is delicious, fresh, and full of flavor. I ordered the pan con todo (includes: black beans, eggs, cheese, and sour cream, served on freshly, prepared in-house french roll). In addition, I ordered the pan con todo y longaniza (includes: Guatemalan sausage, eggs, black beans, cheese, creama on freshly, prepared in-house french roll) & pan con todo y asada (carna asada, eggs, black beans, cheese, and creama on freshly, prepared in-house french roll). Upon my arrival and departure, I picked up some freshly baked goodies. Needless to say, I enjoyed every bite with my girlfriend. She loved them too!Thank you Universal Bakery for incredibly tasty food. Casual breakfast with my boys, we stopped by and ordered off the Spanish/English menu. Both boys are taking Spanish and weee encouraged to order in Spanish. The waitperson was great and very patient.The food was fun. I ordered the egg and bean plate which came with corn tortillas that were off the hook - thick and soft. The plate had a healthy scoop of black refried beans, eggs, cojita cheese and crema. We also had a sausage and egg scramble and a chicken sandwich on a soft roll that was eaten very quickly! The food was great and felt like comfort cuisine. I'm eager to try some of their other dishes.

This was a cute spot that my husband pointed out because he wanted to get some bread. I passed it because I thought it was a church, but it wasn't one. The inside was cute and they have a nice menu. The people working there were very nice. I couldn't have the bread, but we ordered some tamales. They were different than the ones that I usually eat and that was a turn-off for me. We ordered one pork and one chicken. They were bigger than expected, but the masa was super soft. I know that's because I'm used to Mexican tamales and the texture is different. They had an OK salsa on them.I don't think that I'll be back, unless my husband wants some more bread.

The Antigua, Guatemalan themed decor in the middle of San Pablo is a wonderful design choice and a glimpse into all the goodness cooking in @universalbakeryinc The attention to detail when visiting this is East Bay location does not go unnoticed and is appreciated by all. The food here literally got me in my feelings right now. The food brings back happy memories that I have tears in my eyes.

Food is always delicious and fresh. Every time I try something new it becomes my new favorite. But my favorite plate is the revuelto con chorizo. Service is always 5 stars, never a rude or short staff member. Friendly staff, always attentive and quick. Ambiance is bright, clean, modern. I like the set up to this location - San Pablo/Richmond (locations also in the Mission and Daly City). It's open, modern and lots of natural light. It has private parking and street parking as well.

I loooved this place! First of all fresh baked bread just the best!!! Food is soooo good, I had a Pan con todo and didn't disappoint at all (no picture because I ate it so quick)! And the service is amazing! I will definitely come back so many times!!Oh also they have a huge parking lot so you don't have to worry about looking for parking in the street.

This spot is the business!Their food is hecka good, and their bread!O M G!!!!!Do yourself a favor and come here, you will not be disappointed.

wonderful when a place can make simple food SO well. definitely a gem. highly recommended.
