Clean, bright restaurant with very friendly servers and cooks. The food was excellent. Sushi was very fresh, melt-in-your mouth. We chose the unagi and yellowtail. For dinner I had the salmon teriyaki and sashimi combo. My partner had the teriyaki steak and tempura. All were so delicious, as well as the miso soup and salad. Generous portions. Highly recommend.

Ume Sushi is located in the Gateway Square Shopping Center. It was a bit confusing at first, as my navigation lead me to the back end of the restaurant. Parking is a bit hit or miss here, as it gets pretty busy here.I ordered ahead on the phone, so it was pretty quick - my order was ready within 15 minutes. I ordered their Sake Roll, which a bit pricey for what you get. It does come with 8 pieces, instead of 6 pieces, which sort of justifies the price a bit. The salmon was decent, it had a slight fishy taste to it, but overall was alright with a bit more soy sauce.

The service was great here. The waitress was very attentive to the point where I was afraid to just turn my head and look around the restaurant, at least initially. When it got a little busier she had other tables to pay attention to. As much as I want to help a small, independently owned restaurant out, I can't say I would recommend the food. We spent $190 for two of us for a medium sushi platter (roughly 30 pieces; some of which were just shrimp), and an appetizer. For the price of the food we got the appetizer was very plain while the platter was... fishy. My wife didn't want to eat more than a few pieces and I ended up eating the rest, which gave me a stomach ache last night. The experience left a lot more to be desired but I do not think we will be trying this place out again.

What a hidden gem in the corner of Gateway Square- my favorite local sushi spot! Cute ambiance inside, lots of seating options, and they always play 80s music. We usually get the same server who's super kind, and the sushi chef always goes out of his way to say hi! So sweet. The rolls usually come out within 10 minutes and are always beautifully prepared. Usually stuffed to the brim, so sometimes they arrive a bit broken but not complaining! No skimping on the fish, and always very fresh. Usually pretty empty whenever we come in, this spot deserves to be more popular!

Just okay. Ankimo was good. I enjoyed the soba noodles with tempura. Tempura was fresh, soba was refreshing for summer. Chicken udon was just okay. The ume land roll was good, except the tempura inside was stale and cold. Ume queen roll was whatever, mostly crab meat wrapped in cucumber.

Great sushi sport for lunch!Came here for lunch with my work team and it was a great pick! Tons of tables to sit at. There's even big booth tables for larger parties! There is a big menu with tons to choose from! We ordered some rolls to share and I also got a chirashi bowl! The fish was so fresh! The food came out quick and everyone was delighted with their meal! The service is very friendly here!

Seated right away in a spacious booth for an early Friday night dinner at this Japanese restaurant tucked in the corner of a strip mall. The atmosphere was well lit and airy, and the service was friendly and appropriately attentive. We were hungry after a long work day so we dove into their spicy ahi tuna salad that included a generous amount of tuna surrounded by avocado and tortilla chips, nestled on iceberg lettuce with sliced cucumbers and seaweed salad. We also enjoyed their miso soup and dinner salad with creamy miso dressing as well. We followed up with their fried breaded oysters which were nicely fried and remained juicy. The star of the dinner was definitely the medium sushi/sashimi boat! There were thick slices of fresh tasting sashimi (eg, ahi, hamachi, sake, escolar, etc) along with nigiri sushi (eg, ebi, sake, unagi, hirami, albacore, etc) and decorated with two tempura shrimp. The cold bottles of Asahi extra dry were a great accompaniment too!

Came in with my daughter. And we were starving. Cute place. Unfortunately we weren't ever acknowledged. We literally sat there for 20 min! When I'm assuming the owner, by her ordering people around and yucking it up with friends. We literally just stood there. my daughter wanted to leave after 8 min. I stood there like hello. Then a family of 4 walked in and they were immediately greeted and sat immediately. Handed menus! I guess unless you look like the owners or are regulars your money isn't wanted here! Thoroughly DISGUSTED! Unfortunately this doesn't allow for -0 stars! They lost a great tipper and possibly a regular customer. As my normal sushi spot closed recently. The owners retired. No pics because I knew I was NOT going to promote this restaurant. Especially on Google where I have 600,000 likes on my reviews! Boooo on this spot!

AMAZING SERVICE AND FOOD!! It's in a little corner, not many people so we were seated immediately. It was quiet, with music playing, so we were still able to talk without feeling like we needed to be quiet. The server we had was the sweetest, such a motherly vibe to her that made me and my sister so comfortable. The food was prepared and served to us quickly, barely any wait. Definitely coming back!!

Tried this place because of the good yelp reviews and overall this is a place I would have to revisit because after the first view I'm torn. The great was the sashimi! It was fresh and delicious and had a very good flavor to it. I had the salmon, yellowtail and tuna and all were great! The not so good. I had I believe it's called fhe Dancing Queen role and roll was falling apart and the combination of the different ingredients didn't pare well. The ingredients altogether looked great and something similar to what I have eaten before, but something just didn't sit well with me. The service was a little slow too as it appears this is a mom and pop shop and only the sushi chef making the rolls and an older lady was serving and taking care of about 6 tables and one had a party of 7. So it was a bit slow. Overall like I said I would have to try this place again and hoping they have more servers and I would try a different roll and definitely have the sashimi as that was the best! The ambiance is local sushi place where locals eat.
