Service was great and the mentaiko cream sauce udon was spectacular. The overall vibe was also very inviting and the service was great.

Food 4.5/5Overall an awesome experience dining here! The udon was cooked just right and nothing beats a hot bowl of soup on a chilly night. The only thing that could be improved is the noodle to protein ratio. It is also rather pricey compared to marugame udon but I don't think there's a big difference between the two in terms of food. Service 4/5Service here is pretty standard. Nothing to complain about. Ambiance 5/5Love the vibe here! Def a great place for all sorts of occasions.

Mugizo is the local king of udon. Tried many others, but this one is on point. Started with the tempura tasting platter, it was very good, but disappointed that it was not freshly out of the fryer. It already cooled off and did not have that crispy crunch. The chicken karaage was very delicious with the right amount of soy, garlic, ginger. It was crispy and very juicy. Winner! The udon, great broth, full of umami flavor and well balanced. The noodles were chewy and had a nice bite. The katsu donburi has good flavor, but the pork was a little tough. It's average. Overall, we loved this authentic spot, good value, great service, outdoor seating, pet friendly for our dog.

I recently came here with friends for the first time and ordered the mentai cream udon. The sauce was creamy and the roe paired surprisingly well. There was also crunchy bits of tempura batter and parmesan cheese for added saltiness. I would definitely order it again. As for the service, the workers were very friendly and attentive. They checked on our waters frequently. The place is nicely decorated and fitting.

Best dinner I've had in Mountain View! We visited on a Friday evening and waited about 20 minutes to be seated. The interior was surprisingly classy, with exposed brick walls and cool lighting fixtures/panels of succulents. For drinks, I ordered a Lychee Soda which came in a fun little light-up pouch! The flavor was tasty as well, and I liked that it wasn't too tart. We also got an order of Chicken Karaage to share as an appetizer. The portion size was generous and the chicken was perfectly cooked. However, the tiny dollop of sauce it came with wasn't nearly enough - like, it was almost comically small. For my entree, I chose the Mentai Cream Sauce Udon and my friend got the Tonkotsu Udon. The Mentai Cream Sauce Udon was insane! It was the perfect crossover of a creamy, cheesy pasta dish and a traditional Japanese Udon. The flavors of the parmesan cheese and cod roe went together so well, and it was super fulling. The regular size was perfect for me! My friend also loved his Tonkotsu Udon. Service was impressively fast and our server was very attentive. I dropped my napkin, and he was handing me a new one before it even hit the ground. Overall, an awesome experience - will be returning!

Ambience 5 stars: Nice interior with a lot of seating and nice decoration. The serving trays and bowls were also really cool. Service 5 stars: staff are really nice, food comes out pretty fast. We had a challenge with our food and they handled it over the top! Thank you.Food: overall it was good but not a 5 for us.- Tempura: the shrimp tempuras were fantastic and to die for. We will come back just for this! Fresh light fluffy batter and great flavor. - Nabeyaki Udon: loved the tempura. The broth was tasty and it was good portion for regular, pretty filling. - Beef Sukiyaki: didn't love the broth necessary, didn't realize it had a slight sweet taste. Could have had more beef.

I stopped by at lunchtime today (Sunday) and was surprised I could just walk in and get a table. The maître d (?) was kind enough to seat me at a table for two even if though I was dining solo. There is a communal high top table. They are many classic food options here but I wanted to eat a little lighter. I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon which has a fish broth and a medley of ingredients (chicken, two tempura shrimp, mushrooms, green onions and tempura batter bits).I was pleasantly surprised how TASTY this was! The broth was flavorful and light; almost like a chicken broth. Next time I'll ask to have the shrimp tempura on the side since the coating gets soggy when immersed in the soup.Everything was good: prompt service, good al dente & flavorful udon and nice décor (ambiance) inside.I have to return to try more dishes!

I was very impressed by the hand made udon from here. I tried the hot niku udon, which had udon, tempura flakes, green onion, fish cake, and beef. The portion sizes are large, and you will be full afterward. The assorted tempura comes with a little bit of everything- sweet potato, shrimp, squid, and more. We chose to sit outside, and they have heat lamps so you will still be comfortable outside. I will definitely be back next time, and want to try either the mentaiko or sukiyaki udon

Traditional, and Unique Udon! You can choose to sit either indoors or outdoors at this restaurant. The server was friendly and he recommended some menu items. Aside from regular udon, they also offered creative options like ramen-style or pasta-inspired udon. With so many choices, it's a great spot for first-timers trying udon.Beef Sukiyaki Udon:Since it was cold, I went with a hot pot-style udon to warm up. The slightly sweet broth became even more flavorful with a sprinkle of shichimi chili powder from the table--it added a nice kick and tasted amazing!

Not too big of a fan. Portions were small for the price point, everything tasted soggy, especially the tempura flakes, meat was pretty dry. Udon noodles were stuck together and the naruto was not good. Good to sit and talk.Another thing that irked me was that the waiters stopped refilling our water after we paid. The parking lot is also scary but a fun area to walk. I like the decor and the ambiance though.
