I was super interested in stepping outside my hula-trained dancer comfort zone, & try a heels dance class. I had heard good things of Kionna's "heal in heels" series. There was a similar but different 1-day workshop she offered, so a friend & I registered. Unfortunately it was a triggering and low key traumatizing experience for me. For the record, I am not illogical & I can see multiple perspectives, even if I don't agree. I even acknowledge there's 3 sides to a story. It's frustrating to have to write something negative about being in WOC spaces, as I solely believe in the uplifting and empowerment of WOC in today's society. But businesses are businesses, and humans are humans. Here are my reflections from my experience at this studio with this particular instructor & business owner:1) Registration and confirmation systems were too complicated. Instagram is not a registration system. I get small businesses try to find free systemic ways to invoice & track, but coupled with crude customer service, it just should have been a hard pass on my Saturday time. I should've given into my intuitive hits at the registration part. 2) While the ambiance invited some welcoming energy (other dancers), and sympathetically I get that it's difficult managing groups throughout the day- being yelled at to form in line & talked to as if we are elementary kids gets tiring. And annoying. Also, I've never been lectured through a mirror before. Can she invest in a microphone though? It was hard to hear her through all the music & levels of class chatter. 3) I never signed a consent form to be recorded! To add--there was ZERO disclaimer or prerequisite of a previous heels or recent heels dance class experience required named... ANYWHERE. 4) I personally am not trying out for any music videos or music tours. As stated, I was seeking a space for fun, sensual, & embodied movement. Coupled with the weird registration process, random yelling, no consent or disclaimer for prior or recent class experience suggested- I was not feeling safe or comfortable under her teachings. Well, she caught it towards the tail end of the class, & managed to turn around this time, & called me & my non-embodied self out in front of everybody. Then proceeded with a lecture. I should've walked out, but I knew I needed to finish the workshop. Periodt.Obviously I left extremely disappointed & disheartened. But at the end of the day, it's all good. You live & you learn, especially about spaces you are/aren't meant to be in. Teachers have different styles, and students will gravitate to who they resonate with. Until I find another space that calls me to try again, I'll be grinding & twerking in the shower or mirror for now!

I like going to Trilliant Studios. It's clean, spacious and of course my favorite dance class Salsa with Juan is there. I've had my eye on other classes, but Salsa dancing is my favorite dance style. What I think is most important is the community the owner has created. Jan is great, very personable and makes sure everything runs smoothly. She also has a team spirit which may be why there's such a family vibe there.I don't dance as often as I'd like to, but everytime I walk into Trilliant Studios I'm greeted with a smile and a genuine welcoming attitude. It feels like family there and everyone I've met is light hearted and fun. Awesome dancers too.Check it out.

After dancing and performing salsa for many years now, I have visited my fair share of dance studios. As such, I can confidently say that Trilliant Studios is one of the best I've come across in the Bay Area. First and foremost, there are always plenty of parking spaces available. It sports three separate dance floors of varying size that are available for use for private lessons, classes or practice. Each room has very nice flooring, suitable for all dance styles, as well as ample seating. Each room also has a large screen TV that is connectable via HDMI cable or Chromecast; this makes it extremely easy for dancers and instructors to share videos. There is free guest WiFi available: just ask for the password. The kitchen has a water cooler and is always stocked with tea, coffee, cider and plenty of fresh mugs. The restrooms are always stocked with soap, paper towels, lotion and mouthwash. And if you've ever taken a partner dance class before, you'll understand the importance of the latter item. Each restroom also has a dedicated changing room within it that has a bench and plenty of hangers. I also feel I must mention the owner, Jan, who you'll usually find working the front desk at the studio. She is such a genuinely nice person. She also is always constantly working on improving the studio to make it even better for the dancers that frequent it.

I highly recommend this studio for your dance journey. Jan, the owner, welcomed me into the studio for an improv salsa practice with very short notice. The decor is inspiring and the floors of the three dance rooms are perfect for any style of dance. Bravo!

First impressions .....I initially felt unwelcomed and feel some of the staff could improve on their greetings. A Latino gentleman opened the gated door for us; Once we said we were first time salsa students, he replied, "turnaround we don't want first timers here" Appaled as I was, I mentioned it to the receptionist, but she didn't comment on that matter. Joke or no joke, it's not appropriate to greet students in that way. Though this was a nice studio and the instructors were great, I do not feel compelled to sign up for classes here.

Last night I attended Trilliant Studios' celebration of dance. It was so fun! Last night was free, and hosted by owner Jan, with two dance rooms open to all forms of dance taught at the studio. The salsa room was especially popular. The food was spectacular and the dance vibes was so cool. Trilliant Studios has plenty of free parking, provides a friendly environment to learn dance, and the women's restroom is stocked with everything you may want; lotion, mouth wash, mirrors, hair dryers, etc., and it's clean! I highly recommend this dance studio.

Great studio and great energy. Jan the owner really makes sure everyone feels welcomed here and I love the chocolates at the front desk. :-) Great location and parking available. Professional, clean and great floors. Its the best studio I have seen in the bay area with three different rooms for classes or practice. I highly recommend going here.
