Tommy's BBQ

I like GOOD BBQ!!Grandson playing baseball at Pinole today. I typically hit Yelp to see what's around. I am really happy we chose Tommy's. You walk inside and it's very clean. The soft smell of smoke is present. Young lady at register was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a 2 way with ribs and brisket. BBQ beans and Cole slaw. First bite was a rib. This is the best rib I've had in years. Moist, toothy but soft, nice smoke flavor. The brisket was so moist, nice bark and smoke ring flavor is amazing. I'd order beans again but would try collards next time. I will drive from Vallejo to Tommy's in a heart heat. Entire staff knew their jobs and were very efficient. Ya Gotta Try, Tommy's!!

Tommy's is the real deal. I love their ribs! Fall off the bone. I eat them without sauce and sooo good! Six very hefty, meaty ribs in a half rack. I deducted a star because it was $30+ for them. I know bbq is expensive, and I have paid for these more than once, but I can get a cheaper version at two other places in town. I've had their loaded potato-huge! I want to try their smash burger next.The guys working here are the best. Just a great crew. Helpful, kind, patient. They make everyone feel welcome.

Very impressed with Tommy's BBQ. I ordered the 2 meat, 2 sides plate. I heard some locals say the price was not worth the food/too expensive, so I was pleasantly surprised to see such huge portions!If you were also wondering if this is better than Kinders, I would choose this over Kinders 10000%.$30 was my total but I added $5 for great service and suggestions by the cashier!I ordered the recommended brisket and some ribs with two sides of beans. Both meats were SUPER tender. I think there was about 4 oz of brisket (not pictured, it's under the ribs but they're 5-6 thinly cut slices of brisket about 4 in long) and 3 ribs (pictured). Rib meat was falling off the bone with the slightest tug. Brisket was not dry and cooked to perfection. Taste of each meat were distinct -- sometimes I go to BBQ joints and all the meat tastes the same. BBQ beans are smoky and have a little kick to it which I enjoyed. They have a mild and hot BBQ sauce on the side along with an untoasted piece of Texas Toast (I think).Improvements I'd like to see them make are adding mashed potatoes, yams, and/or cornbread as sides, adding beer to the menu even if it's canned, and do something with the untoasted piece of bread (even just throwing some garlic butter on it would suffice). I was happy there was somewhat of a palate cleaner with the bread, but having a plain piece of bread is kinda random. Also having wet naps available would be a helpful convenience. I would come back here again for sure. Might even have them cater my birthday in the summer.

BRISKET - Tommy's BBQ is delicious! We discovered our local favorite and wow it was delightful!Hubby and I came on a Saturday night ! It was fairly busy with a few patrons inside. We were greeted immediately and we ordered the one way combo with Brisket, potato salad and Mac n cheese. They also gave us extra bbq and 2slices of white bread . It was delicious and clearly stood out ! Potato Salad was great too. I would pass on the Mac n cheese!! Good ambiance and picnic style seating . Highly recommend and look forward to coming back to try the rest of their menu. Portions were pretty big too .

I've always loved the food from back in the days where they were inside the Assemble restaurant in Richmond. Brisket and Pork Ribs are my jams! Always delicious...without any sauce! Service was quick and easy. Tommy's is open from Wednesday thru Sunday. The eating/restaurant area was full today and EVERYONE looked like they were enjoying themselves.

First time here, and so glad we tried it! Soon as we walked in we were welcomed in, was informed about there new item the Smash burger and there brisket taco. Everything was delicious Ribs was seasoned well tender and juicy doesn't even need bbq sauce Chicken was juicy as well. Potato salad tasted delicious, and the Greens was great, not a fan of Mac and cheese but there was actually good. The Brisket taco was different but in a good way everything that was on it blended well together the brisket was juicy and seasoned well. Ended our meal with the banana cheesecake rich and creamy.

Ordering online was a breeze and adding to the order in-store was not a problem. Folks working there were very nice, considerate and professional. Restaurant was clean. Food was very good. The " hot" sauce was really rather mild but very well done. Lots of good flavor. My chicken was done just right, son enjoyed his brisket and hubs was satisfied with his pulled pork lunch. Gotta say, beans and coleslaw were very much on point. When we're in the mood for more BBQ, we'll be coming here! Nice to have a quality restaurant in Hercules.

Hi all, finally got to try Tommy's BBQ in Hercules. This is a local bbq shop to me in a town which already has Kinders. I placed a take out order of a two item plate which consisted of ribs, pulled pork, bbq beans, and potato salad. We also ordered a brisket sandwich and a side of macaroni and cheese. We had lunch with some friends who ordered a three item plate (ribs, brisket, pulled pork) and two sides bbq beans and potato salad. We got a chicken nacho as well to share. The food was ready to go by the time we got there about 15 mins later. The shop was open, clean with plenty of seating area. The staff was nice and they offered us some extra bbq sauce. The great: pulled pork, brisket, ribs, and chicken. The bbq beans and potato salad. All these items were delicious and the portions was generous! I was feeling quite full with plenty of leftovers.The ok: the chicken nachos with jalapeños were soggy. I usually chalk this up to the to go container and the item being really hot. We also thought the macaroni n cheese side was nothing to rave about.All in all a great first experience. I definitely think Tommy's has the better bbq than Kinders in town. We will definitely be back!

They've been here a year and I finally tried them! Gotta be the best BBQ in all the Bay (not that I've tried many).Brisket Sandwich comes on a soft & hardy potato bun with freshly crisp slaw. They pile on the meat that pulls part with just a touch and melts in your mouth. Sauce cup is included and all you need is a drizzle to get the bold flavor. Got a side of potato salad and it's up there in my top 5.We also got the 2 meat combo, Ribs & Brisket, 2 sides, & a slice of bread. The Brisket is cut thick, holds up when picked up, but pulls easily apart. The perfectly rendered fat makes for a moist bite of the best Brisket probably in a 200 mile radius. The ribs are meaty spareribs, tender and plenty smokey. No sauce needed, but definitely makes for an even more irresistible bite! Sides of BBQ beans and mac & cheese were good compliments. The BBQ beans are almost like a chili, but cleaner sauce with a smokey sweet & savory BBQ flavor. I could eat them for a meal on their own, but soon would find myself on the moon. The Mac is more cheddar forward and has a nice ratio between the cheese and pasta.Pictures are unnecessary as you definitely will be getting your fix here! By the time you even think of taking photos, it'll all be in your belly :P

Some of the best bbq in the Bay Area! We went during lunchtime and it was not ridiculously crowded as one other poster indicated. The portions are very generous - I'm a brisket snob and this place did not disappoint! The young man at the counter was very helpful and excellent customer service skills. We will definitely come back for more!
