I've come here a couple times with family to try this place out! I checked review before hand and knew this place has a new owner and found him super nice as he often came around to ask guest how the food was. The waiters here were also super friendly and would always come ask how the food was! I think the biggest thing is that this place offers good sushi for a good price. I think this restaurant offers such a casual comforting ambiance that is soo good to bring both friends and family! Overall I would highly recommend giving it a try :)

This place feels like it's gone downhill to me. I just ordered a veggie tempura roll that came straight from the kitchen cold. And severely understaffed. Overall disappointing

Stumbled on this spot around 2:30pm on a weekday afternoon because most sushi spots in the area are closed between lunch and dinner. I recall eating at this spot before the new management took over (about 9 months ago), and it wasn't anything to write home about. But my boyfriend and I were impressed by Tokyo Feng Ramen & Sushi! Service was very courteous and accommodating. Prices are ehhhh pretty standard compared to every other sushi spot in the bay. Menu is extensive as far as Japanese food (sushi, ramen, curry, donburi, etc.), but special sushi rolls were limited - only about 10 rolls to choose from. There was a "Specials" board which we ordered something from. However, it was a whopping $23 for 5 pieces - yikes. Everything we ate, though, was delicious. We ordered Hot Night roll, Tokyo roll, Diamond roll (specials), Hamachi Sashimi (5 pcs), and Shrimp tempura appetizer. Shrimp tempura appetizer was excellent. Although three pieces, they were SUPER crunchy and we even got a surprise broccoli lol. Hamachi sashimi was good, although we were trying to get their hamachi toro on their specials board, but I guess they only had tuna. Diamond roll was gorgeous. BUT we paid for a pretty plate. Was it worth $23 for 5 pieces of cucumber wrapped sushi? No.. but flavor was good and it was very presentable - just not worth $23. Tokyo roll and Hot night were solid rolls. They claim to serve "real crab" but I honestly can't tell the difference. Shame on me, but if they do, it explains the higher prices I guess? Anyway, I'll definitely be back to try other menu items. P.S - I love their sushi serving plate. Comes with the soy saucer within the plate and it's CLUTCH!

The food and service was great! I love sushi and unfortunately do not eat it as often as I would like. So on this trip to the Bay I definitely wanted to stop somewhere to get sushi. This place was close to our hotel and it was well worth it. We even had enough left over to safe for the next day.

I didn't realize this spot was under new ownership, now called Tokyo Feng Ramen & Sushi. Such a fun evening and great staff! We actually were on a walk and wanted to stop somewhere for a snack because we had the stroller and baby, but because of their amazing customer service, we sat at a table with enough room for our party of 3 and had a full meal with drinks. The menu looks refreshed and full of fun and different appetite directions you can go on ~ my husband the curry chicken katsu and myself, the fastive shrimp roll (a shrimp tempura roll topped with cooked shrimp and avocado with a few special sauces)..both equally delicious and full of pow! Would love to return and try their donburi, black garlic ramen, and cheese tonkatsu. Also, with so many specialty roll choices, going back with a larger group to try more sushi would be fun! Parking is convenient and price point feels right. Nothing like washing it all down with awesome Japanese beers. Looking forward to getting cozy again here soon!

Nina and I had dinner here last night after seeing "Wicked" at the Cerrito Theater. We had intended to go to Dolly's but when I called to reserve a spot at the bar, the answering machine was blank. I left home a little early and stopped by Dolly's to check and read her note that they will be closed until the first week of January. I drove over to the theatre and found parking in front of Elevation 66 and walked over to the theatre, where I met Nina. We went in and she bought tickets. She went upstairs to choose seats while I went to the bathroom. Then I took the elevator up. We discussed where to go and settled on Tokyo Feng since I love their ramen and she loves their bento boxes. After the movie I drove her back to her car, which was parked a few blocks away and we drove to the restaurant.I arrived first and found parking right in front. I walked in and was seated at a 4 top towards the back of the restaurant, Nina arrived a little while later. I knew what I wanted so I didn't need to look at the menu, but Nina needed to to decide what she wanted in her bento, aside from mixed tempura. She wanted salmon but knew that teriyaki was high in sodium. She consulted w/ our server, a middle aged woman who might be the owner, about the salt levels of the various choices. She was knowledgeable and helpful and suggested a sauce that had no salt. We had tea and our server came around regularly to refill oucups. Nina's bento came w/ miso soup and salad. She knew the soup was high in sodium so she gave it to me and ate the salad, which enjoyed, while I enjoyed the soup. My ramen was brought and it was lovely as you can see from the photos. When Nina's bento was brought it has teriyaki saucw on it. Our server came over, confirmed that it was not the sauce she had recommended and the runner took it back to the kitchen to be changed. She brought it back about 5 minutes later, corrected. My ramen was excellent, full of wonderful stuff and slightly spicy, just the way I like it. Nina loved her tempura but found the salmon overdone. It still tasted good, but she prefers it rare in the middle. It was a pleasant dinner and we will be back, probably for lunch.

We were surprised that Katana-Ya, our longtime favorite lunchtime Japanese restaurant, had closed and is now Tokyo Feng. Congrats on retirement. Except for the new sign, things look pretty similar down to the tables and tableware. Casual ambiance is the same.Actually the menu items are pretty much the same as well, but in a new format and of course a bit of a price increase. Dad ordered his usual Beef Udon while I tried a Bento Box Lunch with Tonkatsu (deep fried pork cutlet) and Shrimp/Mixed Vegetable Tempura.Miso soup and salad were the same as before, and good. Dad said his Udon noodles were "ok" and later upgraded to "pretty good." I enjoyed my Bento Box but erred with ordering 2 types of fried food. Too much, and should've had something grilled or sushi. The tempura was light and crunchy, perfectly done. The Tonkatsu was a fried a bit too long but was still ok. This is when I thought, hmm, maybe the chef is different. We didn't try any sushi. Maybe next time because our lunch was already quite filling. Service was fine and our tea cups never empty. With a bit of luck, Tokyo Feng might grab the same crowd of regulars that Katana-Ya had over the decades.

The vegetable ramen was not very interesting, didn't have much flavor or depth. Service was alright.

Food was ok. I had mixed tempura and the sweet potato was not peeled and the skin was very tough and unpleasant. The servers did not seem like they wanted to be there. I had to ask for most things including dishes for soy sauce and plates for appetizers and even a spoon for sukiyaki. When they brought it they didn't pass them out....just dropped a stack at the head of the table. Our table was only 8. There are much better places to eat at.
