Burnt ends was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The regular bbq meal feels like a solid deal at around $20. They also have a great beer selection. Staff was friendly and the restaurant was immaculately clean. Looking forward to coming back!

I BBQ Pit. I liked it even more the second time. They serve the pulled pork sandwich with vinegar barbecue sauce. The staff was friendly and my pick up order was ready on time even though it was the dinner rush.

Holy sh*t! This brisket makes me feel like we've got a little fatty slice of Texas BBQ right here in San Jose. The brisket is near perfect. Super moist, pulls apart with ease and has that distinct Texas BBQ flavor.Potato salad is also some of the best I've ever had aside from my mom's. Not too mustardy and not too Mayo-ey.Baked beans were good but probably won't order those again. 12 brews on tap and a large canned selection as well.So far the is the best Texas style BBQ I've had in the Bay Area and I've been hunting since I moved back to California from Austin back in 2018.You gotta come check this place out.

Similar menu as Winchester BBQ. I am not quite sure if they are under the same umbrella. This place replaced the longtime standing The Burger Pit which closed last year. It has been remodeled, providing an open ambiance. You still order and pay at the counter, but instead of burgers and the likes it's BBQ, salads, and even desserts. The dessert of the day changes. We opted for the 2 meat combo. I ordered the burnt ends and brisket w/ my choice of sides being fries and macaroni and cheese. I did place a to-go order for Gavin. He wanted burnt ends, potato chips, and garlic bread. I was a bit disappointed since Ronnie was told garlic bread would be served w/ the meal, so that was why he opted for beans and fries. I was not told that for Gavin's order. To top it off, they forgot his chips as his side as well. The macaroni and cheese was creamy and cheesy. I loved it. The garlic bread is good, the fries were subpar. The brisket was tender, the burnt ends were not as tender but it was very flavorful. The chocolate pie was decadent! I loved how it was packed w/ whipped cream and chocolate shavings to top it off. Service was nice and very fast. Only thing preventing me from marking this as a 5 is because of my to-go order.

What a treasure. We loved how communal, spacious, and lively this place was. They have many solid protein, sides, and alcoholic drink options. They also have plenty of seating inside. You'll come out with your hair smelling like smoke lol. The service was good as well. Prices are pretty good for the portions.

Chomp at the PitAnother quality BBQ joint by this family-run operation that has multiple BBQ restaurants** located throughout Norcal. This location might be my favorite of the bunch, tho, as the Q on our last visit was out-fucking-standing.This is their newest location at the former location of The Burger Pit (RiP), which had been in operation here for over fifty years. The Good:*It's nice to see another restaurant take over the building, as it had been reported by hacky local "journalists," San José Spotlight, that the building was to be razed. *Making the name similar as the OG was a classy move, as well as keeping the iconic neon sign. *Friendly service*Fast-casual order at the counter and the food is brought out to your table. *Interior looks mostly the same and I'm sure that was on purpose and appreciated by locals. I believe they added some nice TVs for watching the sports, but I'm not 100% if they were there before. *As with all their restaurants, they always have a fantastic selection of rotating local beers on-tap.*Carissa loved her Santa Maria Tri-Tip Salad, as the beef was cooked tender and tasty, and the greens were nice and fresh. *Burnt Ends were omfg good. If they're still available--get them! Tender, beefy, meaty, and just the right amount of grease combined with the char was amazing. *Ribs were fall-off-the-bone terrific. Nice smokey flavor, tasty rub, and a nice sweet glaze from the BBQ sauce. *Housemade BBQ sauces weren't amazing but they'll get the job done and that's good enough. The Meh:*If I have one complaint on this local chain, is that's their sides are always a bit on the "Ehh.." side, but I will say that this location did a much better job than usual. The Mac & Cheese was decently cheesey and the BBQ beans were (mostly) cooked thru, which is a typical issue at these places. The Ugly:*Brisket had a great smokey flavor and loved the rub, but the slices were a bit dry for my liking. Maybe I just came on a bad day for them, because they're *almost* there. Conclusion: On a personal note, it's nice to have some fantastic BBQ in South SJ, as it's been sorely missed since The Art of BBQ closed a few years back. Welcome to the neighborhood!**Here's a full list: Aptos St BBQ (Aptos), Trail Dust (Morgan Hill), BBQ 152 (Gilroy), South Winchester BBQ (SJ), Salinas City BBQ (Salinas, duh), Wagon Wheel (Mt View), Mission St BBQ (Santa Cruz), The Crossroads (Carmel-by-the-Sea), The Barbeque Pit (SJ), and Real Smoked BBQ catering.

We didn't know that the place only recently opened, so it was a treat getting to try a new spot. Even better that the place did not disappoint, which means we had an overall great experience and will be back.My husband and I went to The Barbeque Pit around 7:30pm on a Saturday night. It was a casual dine-in restaurant, but I can totally see it being the perfect place to catch games. BBQ and beer just go hand-in-hand, and they had an wide selection of beer. Couldn't tell if they had taps of them, but they definitely had a fridges where you can get craft ones. Customer service was awesome. Our food came out super fast, and the staff members were so helpful. I was on the fence about the mac & cheese, so one of the employees at the register offered me a sample. Unfortunately the chicken, pulled pork, and burnt ends ran out at the time we ordered. They still had other proteins to choose from including tri tip, brisket, ribs, and hot links. My husband and I shared a 2-meat combo of brisket and ribs, which came with 2 sides and cornbread. We got the mac & cheese and coleslaw for our sides. What I liked about their mac & cheese was that it's made with sharp white cheeses. I loved their coleslaw. It was so crisp and refreshing. The palate cleanser I needed between bites. The cornbread was cool. It's not as sweet as I would've liked but still solid cornbread. Interestingly they cut the cornbread in slices rather than cubes. Thought that was unique. I'm not a pork eater, so the brisket was all for me. I forgot to ask for fatty brisket, but The Barbeque Pit had my back! I had a good mix of lean and fatty slices, and they were all tender. The brisket also had a nice salty bark to it. I don't normally order dessert when I have a hefty meal, but I couldn't help get a slice of their chocolate silk pie. I think it was a limited edition pie, because it wasn't part of their main menu. I asked them if it was made in-house and not frozen, and they assured me that it was prepared in the morning. I appreciated that they used bittersweet chocolate, so it wasn't overly sweet. I think the pie would've benefited from a crispier crust. It almost seemed par baked to me, especially the bottom of the crust.

We enjoyed a delicious barbecue meal. We had the three meat combo of burnt ends, pork, ribs, and brisket. The burnt ends and pork ribs were 10 out of 10. The brisket was also good, but not the best I've had. Our sides were baked potato and coleslaw and we had a huge half salad. We ordered cornbread with the salad and garlic bread with the combo dinner. The salad was actually a lovely mixed green version. Not boring.Service was fast and friendly. Everything was absolutely delicious. Prices are a little on the high side, but barbecue is expensive. We will definitely come again.

The Barbeque Pit is a new restaurant that replaces where the old Burger Pit used to be. They have plenty of parking, which the lot is also shared with other businesses there. So finding a spot was not a problem. My friend and I met up for dinner.New decor, totally remodeled and clean. The inside dining is geared for 4-6 people. Though, I am sure they could combine a few tables together. Order at the counter, pay, then they will text you or call your name when your order is ready. However, they actually brought the food to our table. I was expecting to walk up myself to get it, so that was a pleasant surprise. I loved the service. My friend got the Burnt Ends Meal which comes with a choice of two sides. He chose coleslaw and potato salad. He'll try another meat next time. He thought the coleslaw was "simple and fresh. Not saucy like K** coleslaw".I went with the 3 meat combo (4/5). I tried the burnt ends, brisket, and pork ribs. My sides were the potato salad, which was recommended by the cashier, and the baked beans. Both sides were ok. I also ordered the cornbread but got the garlic bread instead. Not a big deal.Overall, both of us felt the burnt ends were a bit dry and too charred. Though, some pieces weren't bad. The pork ribs were smoky, yet sweet. The brisket was good. We'll be back. Support your local business!

The ambience is great and the staff is friendly. There is a good selection of drinks. The food is well cooked bbq and the sides have been flavorful. My only ask would be to serve the food hot! This would take it from good to great. Twice now I've gone and the sides and meat came out tepid.I'll try again for sure, but I might just take it home to heat it up.
