Im in love with this place. A hole in the wall with just enough items on the menu. Looking for a strong and yummy Vietnamese coffee, this is your spot. Looking for a bun to grab and go, this is your spot. Oh and the meatball in broth so yummy it'll make you want to slap your sister. Prices are reasonable, few parking spots, worth going back for more.

I bought an excellent BBQ pork banh mi this morning. Picked it up at 9 a.m. after dropping my son off at preschool, and drove the sandwich to work so that I could have it for lunch.Memo to self -- buy some of those little pine tree air fresheners for my car.

I come to Oakland almost every weekend to help out my parents with certain house work. I absolutely hate coming down to Oakland just to do work wasting my weekends away. But the upside to the exhausting work is lunch, I love it when my mother orders these rice dishes to go from Thanh Thuy. From a place that sells nothing but Banh Mi, the rice is super bomb and I love it! It makes all the hard work pay off. I'm not too sure what the rice dish is called (Should ask my mother soon), but it consists of rice, fried eggs, BBQ pork, and shredded pork; along with some condiments (fish sauce and chili paste). The dish is very similar to Com Tam, but it does not have broken rice. Overall the food is great, maybe not restaurant quality food but it is absolutely yummy!Usually when I'm there to pick up the rice, the place literally feels like Vietnam, the front is filled with Vietnamese men who just come there to chill and look for work, and they sure do like to stare and talk really loud. But if you've grown up with this type of people, you should be use to it like I am.Overall the food is delicious, it always makes it worth wasting my weekends.

Me and my girlfriend love to eat here. No fuss no frills just the real deal. Eat where the locals love to eat and you'll receive authentic Bahn Mi's. There's nothing fancy about this place and you'll most likely spot older Vietnamese gentlemen congregating outside. Once inside you'll notice to go orders being picked up by workers to take back to the crew. Service is pleasant but limited. The lady is always very cordial. The Bahn Mi is incredibly simple and delicious that's why when done right it's amazing. Takes me back to my first Bahn Mi. Well executed. Also they don't overprice the sandwiches so all working class is welcomed to enjoy their glorious sandwiches. We will continue to frequent this hidden gem. Hard to find but once it's in your repertoire you'll never let it go.

Things started out so well for us, Thanh Thuy and I. A nicely toasted roll, a surprise dollop of pate, a generous portion of Xa Xiu (bbq pork), a complete absence of cilantro (as requested), a nice handful of pickled veggies . . .And then there it was. A hair sticking out between the meat and pickled daikon. It looked to be only a half-inch, but as I tugged on it, it was like the Energizer Bunny and kept going and going. Around 8-9 inches when all was said and done!! I guess I should be thankful it wasn't short & curly and I have to admit that it had a nice body wave and some highlights, but really wasn't my type. Hey, at least I got to enjoy half a reasonably tasty sandwich before deciding to break things off. Good luck Thanh Thuy. I hope you can find someone who can appreciate you for who you are . . . a sandwich shop in need of a hair net.

Best cafe sua da (Vietnamese iced coffee) in town. Not machine made. Dripped and mixed with condensed milk manually. Not too much condensed, not too little, with perfect amount of ice.

Most of the sandwiches (banh mi) here are $2. That's right. $2 and there's no tax. I guess not many people make it to this neighborhood since no one has reviewed this place (and I know many people love banh mi). If you like Vietnamese food, you should come out here - it's like Little Saigon - more Vietnamese places than you find in downtown Oakland. I saw chicken pho place, 7 courses of beef, Vietnamese supermarkets and more. Crazy. This deli, TT, has the usual varieties including grilled chicken, roast pork, meatball, etc. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Other than the sandwiches, they have many varieties of tapioca/pearl tea drinks (I didn't try any) and a retail section of snacks. It's a deli with deli appropriate decor - pictures of the sandwiches are posted on the wall and there isn't much else in terms of decor. Now to the sandwiches. I had the meatball. They handed it to me awfully fast. I like my bread nicely toasted and this was lacking here. The bread was bland and soft, barely toasted. The pickled carrots were nice but I like them a cut a little more finely. I thought the meatballs were okay - they were really mushy and soft and I would have preferred something more dense and less pate like. They were on the sweet side too. It wasn't a bad sandwich, especially for $2. But since I didn't like the bread and the filling was just okay, I'd say the overall sandwich was just okay.

I agree with Fred N.Best bahn mi in the O.My favorite is the curry chicken sandwich, hold the daiikon and japelaneos, don't be shy with the cilantro, with a Coke and the strange but so-got-dang-good bananna dessert with a to go rammiken of coconut sauce.HOO la! That's some goot eating! My Vietnamese ex-roommate told me to always go to a Vietnamese deli mid-afternoon to ensure the freshness of the food. I understood after I saw a lady come out from behind the counter, throw away some trash, compact said trash in the can (by ungloved hand, mind you) and go right back to work without washing her hands. No bueno, mi amigo.. Mi no gusta basura torta.Get your shots ahead of time if you are scared. I'm not, but I have never gotten sick from this place.

I went in and asked which sandwich was the most popular. The cutie counter helper said the grilled pork sandwich. I thought it was a perfect sandwich! Great bread to filling ratio and the taste was a nice balance of meat, sweet and heat! Excellent!

Simple and great. Would have preferred a few more vegetarian options but the home made desserts and the fresh squeezed OJ totally make up for it. Great little spot
