Taqueria La Gran Chiquita

Yesterday I went with my partner to eat there. We have been going there for a long time when the owner is in the service is superior, but yesterday was horrible. We sat inside, and I got a super burrito of carne asada. My burrito was cold. I took a bite, and I looked at the meat, and it was frozen. It seems like they made the burritos the previous day and froze them. I called the waitress, and she said she could heat the burrito basically just throw it in the microwave and not cook the meat properly. I told her I preferred not to eat it, and she said she would charge me for the burrito that I did not eat because it was frozen. Also, the pineapple agua Fresca that I get from them every Saturday was not the same; it seems as if they just kept adding more water to the batch they made in the morning. And did not make a batch with all the ingredients, but just added more water. The place is going downhill.

Seems like there's kind of a range in value depending on what you get with some smaller things being pretty pricy while some larger things seeming kind of cheap in comparison. The lengua tacos are $3.50 and the gorditas are $8. Together there're not quite enough for a meal but you could also get a burrito for the same price that probably would be. The gordita was also just ok with some of the masa inside being a little undercooked since it was too thick in that spot.

QqI wen to this taqueria on Sunday morning whit my sister's and my dad.we order the combo of consome and 1/2 pound of barbacoa...the price was 16 dollars for each combo.. we get 4 combo's 2 can Coke's n 2hot chocolate we paid 97 dollars plus tips we spend over 100 dollars!!!!!!! We wer robbed!!!!!!! Smh......But the worse thing we took some leftover's of barbacoa home n my sister reheat the leftover's and she find something disgusting on it I can't describe what the was but I'm gonna post some pictures in here...... I don't know if I'm gonna report this place to health department I can't believe this place.....

This review is for the barbacoa they serve on the weekends.My uncle once told me they used to make barbacoa in his home town in Mexico by burying an entire goat (or lamb, I forget which one) in the ground wrapped in some type of leaves and slow-cooking it over several hours. I never had the chance to try it until my mom brought me here a while back.It's delicious! Very flavorful and SUPER tender. It has a really meaty, earthy, brothy flavor. You can order the meal, which comes with a bowl of consume which is broth made from the meat, home made tortillas, and chopped onions, cilantro and lime on the side. You can also order barbacoa tacos a la carte but I would definitely make sure to get a bowl of that consume to dip your tacos into for a nice, juicy bite. The broth is very tasty and packs a ton of flavor.My wife had the barbacoa flautas and she said she liked them but to me, with all the toppings and everything, that's like putting steak sauce on filet mignon. I prefer to have it on it's own so you can really taste it.When eating here you almost feel like you are eating at someone's house and not a restaurant. Has a very homey atmosphere. The owner, a nice older man, even came around the entire restaurant (this place is not very big) and checked on every table which I thought was very nice of him to do.I initially came here with my mom a while back and remembered more or less where it was on International BLVD but when I returned over the weekend without her I kept driving past it. There is no signage outside at all. Maybe they are doing some remodeling on the exterior because the building was painted white with no signage outside or anything so it's very easy to miss it.I highly recommend the barbacoa on the weekends!

I was very surprised. Usually I go to Taqueria San Jose, but I thought I'd try this one. The outside looks non-descript and awful, but inside, it's very clean, warm, and cozy.I had a super burrito with pollo asada. It was perfectly balanced with beans, rice, crema, guacamole, cheese, and a very generous portion of tender pollo asada. To start, I was given a mortar bowl of salsa and a big basket of hot chips. There's a big difference in taste when you have a hot (not greasy) chip dipped into cold salsa verde.My burrito was browned on the grill as I requested. I know I should have stopped at half and had the other half for breakfast. But I'm not ashamed, it was so good.I was treated with friendly and efficient service and I know I will return. $12 and change included a Diet Coke, and I added $3 tip.

If I don't eat at my mothers house I eat here. Not your typical Mexican restaurant. This food actually taste like it was made at home! Omg I love it here!

Definitely an off the beaten path joint for authentic Mexican food. A few blocks from fruitvale Bart station this place is sorta hidden away on international blvd and easy to miss if you are not on the lookout. Exterior is very unassuming and may be a turn off for some. But def go in and check it out. Staff were very friendly and explained the different options that were available. 1. House special was a pumpkin flour quesadilla with pork skin and mushrooms. Definitely not your typical quesadilla. I liked it a lot. The flavor of the quesadilla was very unique and tasty. Meat was flavorful. Add a little salsa and delicious. Abt $82. We had a chorizo soft taco. Tortilla was lightly grilled with a layer of oil that was actually perfect for me. Size a bit small but typical of tacos I guess. $23. Gordita was also quite good, sorta like a stuffed pastry. The filling was very flavorful and the gordita skin was full of corn flavor. 4. At the rec of the nice waitress we had another house special. Forgot the exact name but was sorta like a large torta. Large load of bread that was lightly toasted with perfect char filled with meat sour cream lettuce. Absolutely delicious. Very very good flavors and all the dishes were very hot which is a pet peeve of mine. The only part that may be A bit disconcerting to some is the location. But all in all it was a good meal!

La Gran Chiquita Taqueria has an amigo at it's window grilling meats , making burritos, tacos, etc. i thought it was for show. nope. it's the real deal. didn't see pricing anywhere. booths on both sides of eatery filled with hungry, eating mexicans. not a gringo in sight. looks like everyone had a soup dish or menudo.sampling:"beef burrito" (3.99)pretty good sized burrito-unique taste with plenty of rice, beans, and not chewy beef-accompanied by container of extra hot homemade sauce, "fresh" commerical round chips, and salsa for chips.frijoles refritos:-definitely a go to place for authentic mexcian food.-unsure if menu was in spanish only, didn't look.-cordial, efficient service...

I like this place! The food is always so good, especially the red sauce for spicy lovers. The only down side is that it is a little expensive.

Had the barbacoa and found it well cooked and flavorful. It included various cuts of meats, including one of my favorites, lip meat.Unfortunately, there are some obviously ignorant people who have no idea what lip meat looks like and are now wrongly accusing this business of selling them "teeth" (like a poster did just earlier).
