had an incredible dining experience at Swaad Indian Cuisine From the moment I walked in, the staff was welcoming and attentive. The atmosphere was cozy, and the aroma of spices was mouthwatering.The food was absolutely fantastic! Ichicken Tikka, garlic naan, and biryani, and every dish was bursting with flavor and perfectly cooked. The spice levels were just right, and everything tasted fresh and authentic.What stood out the most was the attention to detail and genuine care from the staff. I've ordered from Swaad dozens of times for delivery and it's always been decent. Today's order felt different - something has changed. Samosas were so bad that we didn't even finish them and Saag paneer lacked any flavor to the point that we didn't enjoy it. The reviewer below states that this place is under new ownership and it shows. Take your money elsewhere, this place is just looking to cut costs while benefitting from the name of a previously good place.

From the outside, you wouldn't expect much from this place. The building is old and the decor is well aged. The building looks like it was built some time in the 80s and is in desperate need of renovation. That said, the food and service, which are what a restaurant pride themselves on, are second to none. I have tried a few Indian restaurants in the South Bay, and I would not call myself very knowledgeable about the cuisine, but I know what tastes good, and the meals are always top notch. We usually go for the garlic or butter Naan, tandoori chicken, and lamb korma and have never been disappointed. The prices are also fantastic, you'll get a great meal and it won't break the bank.

We visited Swaad this evening around 7 pm. No one was in the restaurant, but don't let the absence of patrons fool you. They have a frequent stream of to-go orders. Another table was sat right after we arrived. As always, the staff is always pleasant. She's one of those people who remember your entire order with modifications, and she even remembered the other tables order before telling the kitchen. We normally order a lot of dishes, but tonight, I tried to keep it in control. We got the Chicken Tikka Masala - ALWAYS delicious, fresh, flavorful, and smooth. I would've liked maybe two more pieces of chicken, but with today's economy, I understand. Next was Chicken Tikka Kebab - ALWAYS fresh, hot, sizzling, and tender. I vaguely recall it used to come with one or two wedges of tomato, but I could be wrong. You must squeeze the lemon on the meat to bring out its delicious flavor. The meat is so tender it just falls apart in your mouth. Third was Murda Prag (Chicken Biryani). This is fresh and delicious, but I think I should've asked for it to be spicy to just give it a little kick. We also got two orders of wonderful plain Naan. It was soft yet firm on the edges. Not even remotely dry. Of course, we had to get an order of masala sauce to go! The leftovers tomorrow will be even better! Don't be intimidated by the neighborhood. It's worth going to! Always super fresh and clean.

Things have changed since we ate here last, which makes this a tough review to write. The food was very tasty but also not what we expected. We asked for mild on 3 of our dishes and they were very spicy to the point 2 people couldn't eat them. That said, the flavor was still present and I'm sure we'll eat the leftovers over a few days. The naan was tough rather than their usual consistency and although we ordered what we were told was butter chicken, it was a more oily sauce and not the creamy murgh we've had before. The lamb tiki masala was amazing. Next time, we'll probably order chicken tiki masala rather than the Karahi Murgh on the menu, which we were told was the closest thing to butter chicken. As always, service was lovely and warm and the food is always delicious, just not quite what we thought we were getting

We had gotten takeout from Swaad previously, and recently wanted to dine in. Walking up to the restaurant, I noticed an odor. Inside the dining area was in need of a deep cleaning and a fresh coat of paint. The windowsills were filthy, to the point where we requested to move to another table. Notable, the one-woman wait staff was accommodating and helpful. She told us that everything on the menu was equally popular. We ended up ordering the Indian salad, vegetable samosa, saag aloo, vegetable tikka masala, rice, and 2 types of naan. The food was good enough, though there weren't many potatoes in the saag aloo and the vegetables in the tikka masala were a bit of a random assortment (eggplant, yellow squash, peas, carrots) with some overcooked and some undercooked. Thankfully the prices weren't high-end given the downtown location. However, I wouldn't be back - would rather pay more for a clean environment.

This place just got back on their feet and went running with it! My husband and I along with our son really enjoyed this delicious authentic Indian restaurant. Soooo happy there's one in our neighborhood.The waitress was very sweet and paid attention to all of our needs, especially either our little one ! We're looking forward to coming back here YUM!

Swaad Indian Cuisine Restaurant (N 13th & Empire) is still going strong. They reopened November 24, 2024. We went last night and we're thrilled to find the former chef & kitchen staff are still there. The interior was refreshed with new paint and seating. It was explained that a new management group bought the restaurant and did the updating. The same menu is being served. In fact the food tasted as good as ever! Don't miss our favorites: the tasty samosas, mixed grill, chicken tikka masala, and naan.They plan to introduce some regional specialties (e.g., spicy biriani) as time goes on. We noticed a lot of take-out orders while we dined.The hours are the same: open 7 days/week for lunch (11:30 - 2:30 pm) and dinner (5:00 - 9:00 pm) except when noticed for holidays.
