Solkadhi

It was a quiet, gloomy Sunday morning when we arrived just after opening, and by the time we finished, the place was packed. We started with hot ginger tea, which was absolutely delicious! Here's what we ordered: * Vada Pav ( I recommend ordering 1 per person)* Sabudana Vada (our first time trying this, and it was a bit spicy!) * Chicken Thali & Special Thali ( so good! I love getting to try a variety of dishes on one plate) The daal was really tasty, though a bit watery. Overall, a tasty experience! Additionally, the restaurant is exceptionally clean!

Nice Maharashtrian/Regional Indian fare. The Sol Kadi & Kokum sherbet drinks were nice. The Prawn rava fry was well done. Loved the Mutton Masala with Rice Bhakri, the curry was very different & tasty. The Bharli Vangi(Eggplant) was pretty good with Chapatis. Saw a bunch of classic fast foods like Vada-Pav, Misal Pav & a bunch of Thalis. Next time. The place looked pretty open & nice, service was quick. Lastly, was very suprised to see that there were no fish dishes on the menu, Solkadi being a Malavani name & we had gone there specifically to have some nice Fish fry & curry. Wonder why?

We have only done takeout and we love some of their dishes. The shrimp curry has a unique taste with the nutty coconut gravy. Their indo Chinese dishes weren't bad either. Better than some indo Chinese chains .Can't speak for service or ambience.

Came here to satisfy a craving for a non-veg thali and Solkadhi lived up to my expectations! Traditional Maharashtrian food from the coast to the plateau! We got the special thali which came with prawns rava fry, mutton masala, chicken masala, daal, raita, aamras, rice, rice flour bhakri and of course, their solkadhi. All their food was tasted fresh and delicious. The mutton masala and their prawns rava fry were my favorites. The place is clean (including their bathrooms) and the ambience and service are welcoming. If you have leftovers, they offer a bento box style takeout container that holds multiple items - I appreciated this since it avoids multiple plastic containers! They also have a veg thali, chicken thali and prawns thali. Will definitely be back to sample their other thali offerings.

We had a horrible experience in Solkadi. Although we were one of the first few people to enter (the restaurant got crowded later), it tool them ~1 hour to get everything out. They didn't get everything together either, so everything got cold as we waited for everything to be there on table.The food itself was average, nothing worth waiting for.

The food was PHENOMENAL. Authentic and delicious full of amazing flavors. Our order as follows: Butter Naan, 2 Piece Chow Mein Samosas,Mutton Masala, Chicken Tikka Kebab, Ginger Tea, and 5 Piece Veg Spring Rolls. Everything was amazing. I loved everything. The service was AMAZING. The gentleman who attended us was very friendly and polite. He made us feel very welcome as it was our first time. Very nice man, his service was appreciated. The ambiance was delightful. The place is very clean from the smell of the restaurant to their utensils and silverware. The bathrooms were extremely clean, rule 1 if the bathrooms aren't clean that should tell you a lot about a restaurant. This place has squeaky clean bathrooms. I 100% recommend! :)

The moment you walk in it smells like agarbatti and home.. we had the special Thali - it has chicken mutton and prawn with aaaamras folks Also tried the Hakka noodles and chilli prawn .. spicy and yummy. Service was quick. We almost forgot to go in for the movies ! Will come back to try more movie time bites .

Decided to try on a weekday evening. Next to the Indian movie theater. Not too crowded. Clean interior and restrooms. Courteous owner and waiters.**This review is for Indo-Chinese food only**We ordered Hakka noodles with eggs, Chicken Manchurian, veg spring rolls. Everything was ok. Just not great. If you compare this restaurant with other Bay Area restaurants, there are other places who have tastier Indo-Chinese food.Solkhadi drink was amazing however.We didn't try the Maharastrian food so perhaps worth a second visit for their thalis.

We were thrilled to discover the new Maharashtrian restaurant in Fremont, part of the well-regarded group that includes Surmai, Frankie, and Puranpoli. We ordered the special thali, while our friend opted for egg curry and vada pav.The special thali featured chicken and mutton curry with rice, prawn Rava fry, rice bhakri, a light mutton bone soup, sherva, and a cup of solkadhi. The prawn Rava fry, chicken curry, and mutton curry were especially tasty and flavorful. However, the sherva and mutton soup didn't quite hit the mark for us. Our friend found the vada pav just okay, and noted that the egg curry was a bit on the sweeter side. The solkadhi, though, was delightful.The service was prompt and the ambiance was bright and pleasant. They also offer a selection of Indo-Chinese dishes, which we didn't try this time. Overall, this place is definitely worth a visit.
