We had no business coming to newpark mall other than to get niche Christmas gifts. By the end of our mall run we were needed sustenance and decided to go with the first place we saw. It was somewhat empty when we walked in, so we weren't sure what to expect but it ended up being a great experience! I liked that they had a massive wall screen streaming people cooking lol. Sometimes it's nice to just sit in silence with your partner and watch people cook. The screen up top felt gratuitous but didn't bother me much, glad I was sober lol. Here's what we ordered: Beef noodle soup: everything you want in a light soup in this cold weather. The broth was rich and the meat was so tender. I'm simple with my soup, so meat, noodle, and some veggies worked perfect for me.Dan Dan noodles: good flavor, but maybe a little too oily. Super delicious when mixed right.Lamb skewers: yum, crisp on the outside and tender inside. and flavorful with all the spices. Chicken skewers: this was the same as lamb but in chicken form lol. It's just as good but I preferred the lamb.Service was friendly and attentive. It was easy to order with the QR code. Will be back for that soup!

We came here in the evening of a Saturday around 6pm. No people were seated yet, so they asked us to sit anywhere. We ordered our food and while waiting , then there is a "band" came in to set up their music instruments so we thought they hired a live band to perform for the weekend. While our pot came and cooking (was told wait time is about 15-20mins), the band started signing but it was really amateur and loud so turned out to be VERY unpleasant. Obviously this group of people were here to practice rather than to perform. The whole restaurant was loud and our family could hardly talk. The table behind us has a toddler watching iPad but because the band was loud, parent turned the iPad volume high as well so it became very noisy all around. I have no idea why a restaurant would "force" customers listening to a band practice; they could have rent a studio to do that instead of let customers feeling "I'll do whatever I want so you should suck it up". The food & service was ok, nothing impressive. Due to the ambience was terrible, will NEVER go back.

I really wanted to give this higher stars but honestly I just couldn't. Not only was the service just alright, the ambiance was just kinda sus and and the food just took so long to come out. First of all, when we walked in, no one bothered to look at us even though they weren't that busy, maybe 3 other parties at the whole restaurant. They didn't tell us how to order but it was okay to figure out since there was a QR code on the table. Once we put in our order, they told us that they had run out of noodles for their hibachi sets so we can either do rice or cancel it. How does a restaurant full of noodle dishes run out of noodles...? Anyways upon bringing the plates, they dropped the plates on the ground in front of us and still set the table with the same ones. Anyways the first dish, beef skewers came out in 15 minutes and it was okay but nothing special. The 2nd dish which was dumplings were also just okay. The 3rd dish which were the beef rolls were actually pretty solid, probably the best of the whole meal. The last dish we got was the land and sea carnival simmering pot. The person asked if they could cook it at another table in which we were like ummm okay sure, the thing took like 30 minutes to cook I kid you not. IF it was going to take so long 1) maybe just cook it in the kitchen? 2) let people know on the menu so we could consider if we would want to order it? Anyways after our food came we had to then wait more for just WHITE RICE. So ya service was really just lacking. The simmering pot actually had a pretty good flavor to it but the beef was definitely very overcooked and hard to chew.THE AMBIANCE THO... okay so like they were playing youtube videos of basically like think austin powers vibes but in chinese. Which like there's a place and time for that but probably not at a family restaurant? Seemed pretty inappropriate and definitely did not add to the experience. ALSO the prices are kinda pricey for the portion sizes if you ask me.My family was really excited to try this but honestly I can't recommend it to anyone.

Good place but a couple issues tied to the beef & chicken big pot items:1. The beef was very tough. I suspect overcooked.2 Normally for this dish at other Simmer Huang locations the server uses a spoon and mixes the pot for you. This was not done here and even when asked they did not seem know this and therefore still did not do it.

This is a decent option for a hotpot at the Newpark mall. I got a beef rice noodle soup and a scallion pancake were decent. They have a giant screen which was playing a relaxing video of life in Vietnam on YouTube which was interesting. Our waiter was super nice.

The lamb skewers here are amazing! The service is quick and friendly. There is a huge tv for sports and a beautiful display on the ceiling that sets the mood. All tables have stoves on them for the hotpot.

A mediocre dining experience at best, from start to finish. It was around 7PM on a Friday and it was completely empty. It took really long for our food to come out. We started off with the Lamb Skewers and Pepper Salt Chicken Wings which were quite tasty, but the portion was so small! I didn't attach a picture but we also had the Spicy Beef Noodle Soup which was good too. Then for the star of the show, which took over 30 minutes to come out, was the semi burnt "Super Spicy" Chicken & Beef Carnival Pot. It was really disappointing in terms of both flavor, quantity, and execution. The vegetables inside were unevenly cooked, with some being mushy and others being near raw. Ingredients towards the bottom were burnt. The amount of meat they give for $63 seems skimpy. And for us to order the "Super Spicy" level and receive a very mild sweet flavor was underwhelming. I also ordered white rice on the side and it was overcooked, dry, and hard. Messing up rice is crazy! The place itself is huge and very spacious. They have a large screen playing food videos, and they also have music playing. Even with so many seats they were barely filled.

This score only reflects skewers and the dry pot. We will be back for the hotpot.TLDR: whatever you do, get the lamb skewers. If you're thinking about giving this place a shot and like this type of food, it's pretty affordable and well seasoned. We got:lamb skewers (10/10) 7.99these were the star of the show for us. Great cumin flavor very moist and tender. Other places tend to dry out and over cumin the meat sticks, but this place did it really well. We'd come back just for this.and the short rib dry pot (7.5/10) 24.99Honestly, this dish was overall pretty good. It only scores lower than an 8 because the meat amount is a little light, but the flavor is really nice and not too salty while retaining good flavor. The rice that came with the dish was a little dry. Diet Coke (2.00)We liked the food enough to decide to come back to try the hot pot sometime (and get more lamb skewers)The interior is pretty large and I like how each table has a big burner for the table and each person gets their own individual burner. We came for a late lunch/ early dinner and it was pretty dead. I appreciate the reasonable prices for everything and that they don't gouge you on soda (3.50 for glass bottle, 2 dollars for a can)Parking is easy cuz it's on the exterior of Newpark Mall (next to lazy dog and yugo ramen)

Good food, service and clean, well lit restaurant. Tried a variety of items. You scan a qr code and order from the table. We had the onion pancake (good, a little oily as expected), dumplings (tasty), dry beef bowl (nice mix of veggies and beef. Has peanuts and fries), green pepper fish noodle soup (photo on menu does not match dish and the green pepper isnt bell pepper, it is a little spicy) and lamb skewers (well seasoned). Would be nice to have the smaller items (dumpling, pancake, skewers) served first as an appetizer and the larger items as main dishes. Items were served as they were ready so we got the dumplings served last.
