I enjoyed this place for the most part! I found the chicken a little dry, the beef was good and the green was good! I don't know if they're meant to be spicy, but overall felt it was pretty mild / safe for ppl not great with spiciness. It's a cute place, especially during lunar new year. Service is pretty standard, if not a little lacking.

don't come here! the food is lackluster and below average, and here is the worst part: when signing the bill, the waitress exclaimed "no tip?!" they feel entitled to people tipping their mediocre food! i felt so cornered & pressured by that remark (i was the only customer in the restaurant) that i generously tipped, so she could get off of my case! granted, it was my first time eating there! no wonder the restaurant is almost always empty most days!this establishment is rude! i'm not sure if it's still there, but there's a sign asking for yelp reviews to endorse their restaurant in exchange for a small ice cream. no wonder they even have a sign for that as they 1) already have so little customers, & 2) have terrible service!

I didn't expect to like this as much since I'm a little sensitive when it comes to spicy food, but I liked it! Good: - Really solid garlic glass noodles with shrimp - not spicy, but great flavoring and tasty noodles with just enough sauce! - The soy milk they give out here is really good if you need something to cool the spiciness away - The spicy noodles are tasty - chewy noodles- The sour and spicy fish soup was really good as well - so soft and tender- The boiled spinach was good in comparison to all of the spicy dishes- Lotus root and beef was tasty but spicy - the beef was so tender Bad: - Takes some time for the food to come out- The place is super casual ambiance wise, you have to be used to Chinese restaurants and speaking Chinese to have the best experience Overall would come again, good authentic Chinese food.

Definitely change in ownership and different chefs. It does not taste like it used to. I have eaten here for almost 15 years so I know what it should taste like. I am quite sad the spicy boiling fish is no longer the best. They used to use A-Choy vegetables as the base but now they use cabbage. The sauce/ soup used to be thicker and super flavorful with fried garlic on top. The soup is now a thin sauce with no fried garlic. The soup is supposed to be the essence of the whole dish and when they get it wrong, it does not taste as good . I ate here with my mom a few weeks ago. I paid with a credit card and gave a cash tip of $10. I just noticed they charged my credit card an extra $3.00. Please remember to check your credit card statements and keep the customer copy receipt. On another note, the chongqing wings and tofu cucumber salad still taste the same. Still good.

Very good spot in the Pacific East Mall. Inhad the hot and sour soup, cucumber and tofu salad, and a lamb dish. The soup and the salad were the standouts. I'll come back for the noodle dishes, the Sichuan dishes, and other soups, as well as the hot and sour. Service is attentive and good.

The food is great! I have been eating in the place for 10+ yrs. They changed owner and chefs multiple times. I have to say, this time is great change. The chef did great job. Spicy and numbness level is perfect. Highly recommended!

Ordered for takeout. Had the sliced pig's ear in chili oil, pumpkin with salted egg yolk, and Chongqing style chili chicken. All were so delicious! Friendly staff, quick service on a Monday lunch hr. Place was pretty empty and quiet during my visit. Will definitely come back to try other items on their extensive menu. Located inside the El Cerrito plaza adjacent to 99 Ranch Supermarket. Lots of parking, but can be difficult during peak hrs.

Super fun lunch with a friend who introduced me to this restaurant in the Ranch 99 complex. We shared the salt and pepper tofu, Sichuan style twice cooked pork bacon, spicy garlic eggplant, crispy noodle chicken and pan fried chive turnover.Everything was super fresh and steaming hot. The tofu fried to perfection and soft & silky inside. We agreed to try item we had never had before and the twice cooked pork bacon and crispy noodle chicken were two of those items. The pork was very flavorful with the perfect heat level, and the crispy noodles under the layer of delicious chicken, mushrooms and fresh Vegis lent the perfect texture. The chive turnover was a fun dish. Our server, and everyone at the was friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back. Two things to know, parking can be a challenge as it is a busy area (there are multiple restaurants and shops in the complex, plus Ranch 99) and if you pay in cash, you get a free mini ice cream.

Overall flavor is very good. A bit on the salty side, if you do not order white rice. The spicy beef combo is one of the better ones I've had in the Bay Area.
