Wow, this was a hidden gem for sure. We were looking for a place to grab a drink after work, and I was surprised when the San Francisco Wine Society popped up when I was searching Yelp for happy hour spots.[1] The building is tucked away in an alley off of Battery. The space is absolutely gorgeous, with high ceilings, exposed brick, subtle lighting, and a library ladder in front of the wine shelves behind the bar. They offer a number of tasting flights as well as regular glasses/bottles. The flights are thoughtfully selected/grouped, and described in entertainingly un-snooty detail. They consist of three generous pours for about the same price you might expect to pay on the higher end for a single glass of wine in a fancy restaurant. I tried some rosés and my husband tried some interesting reds, which were delicious. I appreciated being able to compare the wines all at once instead of serial pours like you get in a winery. The staff are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable (they talked to us about the wines), but did not hover. We also ordered some snacks - the marinated castelveltrano olives are a must. I've been trying to figure out how to make my own. I tried once and it was meh. I will obviously need more research, so unfortunately I guess I'll have to go back and try them again, with more wine, of course. Poor me.[1] They do not offer a happy hour. Yelp lied!

If you are a wine snob lol or wine enthusiast, you will definitely find this place pleasing. The location seemed a bit hidden which was kind of cool. The place is dim, romantic, intimate, but lively. My fiancé had a red while I had a rose. I absolutely LOVED the wine and will definitely return. The charcuterie was a bit pricey for a small serving, otherwise, the service and wine were great.

Super cute place! Very friendly staff. The live music was cute she was very talented. The lighting and decor was perfect. The wine was fun I got to try wines from hungry and Slovakia. The prices were surprisingly fair and reasonable for wine. I was expecting it to be way more expensive but it was very fair I would for sure come back here!

Cool place with excellent live music. It's very dark and cozy here with plenty of comfortable leather chairs. The service was excellent my waiter kept my glass full and was attentive. The wines were good many by the glass from around the world. They even had a unique ones from Eastern Europe at a very low price point. I was also impressed by the mushroom flat bread pizza. It was so full of toppings and it was absolutely delicious and had the best flavor. It's perfect for one as a meal or to share for the table.

What a cute little place to enjoy some light snacks and drinks! We sat in the little terrace outside, enjoyed some good arancini and rose on a bench. Then afterwards we played some bacci balls. The perfect Sunday afternoon activity with your loved ones. By the way the Transamerican sculpture garden is nearby too.

This wine bar is tucked away in an alley and was a little hard to spot until I saw their outdoor patio sign. The inside is beautiful and has ample amount of seating. My friends made reservations for 6 so we took up the large dining table area; located to the right once you enter. Upon entrance, I noticed the intimate vibes but also noticed how quiet it was. It gave off "members-only" vibes. The 3 bottles we purchased were good. Pricey. But good. I enjoyed 2 out of 3. The service was great and the charcuterie was just as good! I highly recommend the olives. they were marinated in some Indian-y spice which was different but delicious.Restroom was worth noting down as well. It was spacious and super clean. I loved the Aesop products which left a nice scent throughout the restroom and my hands. All in all, I would come back for a visit if I was in the area. However, it is out of the way and not really walking distance to restaurants I would check out. Cheers!

Was in the area and craving some wine so decided to check this place out. My friend and I had a dog with us so we sat outside. But they don't allow dogs because of the furniture. The server made an exception for us. I got the holiday red wines which were amazing and not to heavy. The pour was kinda sad compared to other places. We also ordered butternut squash bruschetta which for my taste buds it was so bland that I only ate on toast. And couldn't have anymore because it was the blandest thing. After that I was discouraged to order more off the food menu. Overall experience was okay. The wine was great and delicious and they have so many selections to choose from.
