I started dancing with Salsamania in 2015 and I like to think of myself as the worst student who ever stepped foot into their company. It didn't help that I weighed over 300lbs as well. I felt clumsy and overwhelmed by everything John and Liz were trying to teach me, but I could feel their passion for sharing what they loved. That passion and love drove me to keep training and it didn't take long before I saw real results on the dance floor. Four years later and 100lbs later I can honestly say that Salsamania changed my life. I competed in three Amateur divisions at the 2018 World Latin Dance Cup and took home two trophies. None of that would have been possible without the coaching, guidance, and support that John and Liz provide to all their students. Salsamania truly feels like a family, and one that I am proud to be a part of.

I am a Salsa and Bachata dance instructor for newcomer and beginner dancers. I started taking dance classes with Salsamania in February 2018, and it has been the BEST decision by far that I could have ever made for my social, professional and competitive dance career. My advice to all newcomer, beginner, and advanced dancers is to start training with John and Liz (I even advise this to my own students). I have taken many salsa classes in the Bay Area, and I feel that John and Liz offer the best classes for studying, understanding and dancing Salsa at the highest possible level.A friend gave John my number when I told him that I was looking for dance classes, and John invited me to try his Beginner intensive series class for a day. He evaluated my dancing, corrected technique in a way that I was able to implement immediately, and warmly invited me to return. I have since taken John and Liz's 20-hour beginning technique series 3-4 times, and I am a completely changed dancer because of it. I understand salsa technique far better than I ever was able to before, and I am having so much more fun because of the progress I have made with Salsamania.John and Liz are the best coaches in the Bay Area because anybody can become a champion-level dancer with enough work and dedication, but it takes very special qualities to bring the patience, precision and dedication that make John and Liz stand out as coaches. They are always encouraging, and they make maneuvers that I never thought I could do seem accessible and achievable! I've worked with them both one-on-one, as well as with Erika and Dalia. They are all professional, stellar coaches. John has been training me in a Pro-Am routine for almost a year now, and I have never felt so encouraged and uplifted. I am seeing incredible results with my dancing after only a year of individual training, and I truly feel that anything is possible now.You have nothing to lose, and absolutely everything to gain, by training with Salsamania. If you are passionate about bringing your dancing to the next level, or if you want to learn salsa the right way (in order to avoid building bad habits in the beginning) and fast-track your dancing to intermediate level, sign up for your spot in a class right away! You won't regret it.Hope to see you in the Salsamania Dance Family soon! ;)

I highly recommend Jhon & Liz's workshops for anyone who wants to improve their salsa dancing, they really give you the tools to look like a polished dancer. After studying with them, I've noticed so much improvement in my salsa dancing. I only have good things to say about their classes, as do most students who have studied with them.

The girls and I have been coming here for several years and enough is enough. I am no longer supporting (paying) a dance company with owners that are RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL. They use intimidation and sarcastic remarks when providing insults (what they consider instruction). No smiles, no friendly conversation, no introductions to new people. Nothing! In all my years of dancing and traveling abroad, NEVER have i received so much HATE from owners. But that's ok because now we connected with other instructors in the area like Juan and Gary. These reviews on here are fake...the entire Bay Area knows the truth.

Salsamania is one of the bay area's top salsa companies so it comes as no surprise that directors John and Liz provide the best training around. They provide accessible (and entertaining!) instruction at the social level and for beginners. I highly recommend their intense "on1" training program to get up to speed fast. I took it a couple of years ago, became addicted to salsa, and am now part of their team in training programFor intermediate and advanced students looking to take their dancing to the next level you won't find a better program in the bay. For salsa addicts looking for effective structure in a supportive environment and the best opportunities to dance (whether you want to make some new friends to dance with socially or your goal is to perform and/or compete) John and Liz with Salsamania will help you build a solid foundation AND have a great time doing it.

I've been taking drop in classes with Salsamania for 8 months now. I've also taken their On1 progressive series. If you're a very casual salsa dancer who just wants to have a good time, then this may not be the best place to take classes. However, if you're a serious dancer who cares about looking good on the dance floor and may want to perform / compete one day, this is definitely the place to be. John & Liz have extensive dance experience and competed at the biggest salsa competitions. They also break down technique in a high detail. You can go far in your dance skills with John & Liz.

I took the salsa on 1 in San Jose and was amazed at the amount I learned in a very short time (8 weeks). John and Liz are so nice and will answer any questions even from a newbie like me. I am beginner and have taken a few classes here and there, but really feel as if I have graduated to a level between beginner and (almost?) intermediate. If this had been any other dance, an intermediate would have been my next step, but salsa ain't easy, so I will probably take John and Liz for beginning again, and take intermediate alongside it. Truly a pleasant and fun experience. These two are tops! Many salsa instructors can get a little arrogant, but not here. it is friendly and warm. If you are willign to work hard and learn, you will and you will have fun

I have taken the class the last 2 Mondays at Just Dance Ballroom. What I LOVE about the class is how John and Liz take so much time with their students. They rotate in, dancing with every person, to help each of them learn the techniques. They show a lot of dedication and consideration for their students. I really admire that. A high degree of professionalism and a kind and genuinely helpful approach makes for great instruction! I've tried a lot of salsa classes in the Bay Area and these are the best teachers I've come across.
