I was craving pizza while I was in Napa and came across a photo of a HUGE SLICE OF PIZZA! So of course I had to check it out! Rutherford Family Pizza is located at the Food City Plaza (I think that's what it's called?). I remember always seeing this pizzeria the times I got coffee next door, but they were always closed, so I am glad I finally got to try them out! Yelp Elite Dario O. and I came during their lunch special hours, which is any 2 NY slices + a drink for $12. Tuesday to Saturday 11 AM to 4 PM. I really wanted the huge slice of pizza so we ended up getting one NY Slice of pepperoni and one CA King Slice of pepperoni. And wow! The size difference is mind blowing! How does a pizzeria make a pizza so big?! They serve NY Style Pizza so it's thin crust. The pizza was thin and crisp with a little fluff in the crust. Not super duper oily, too! The CA King slice of pizza held up well, too. You'd think that maybe it would be all flimsy and maybe oily, but nope. Not at all! Service was great. After ordering, they'll serve the slices to your table. Whoever was working that day saw me taking pictures and videos so when a fresh pie of the CA King pizza pie came out the oven, I was invited to take a photo/ video. I'm so glad I did because that pie was MASSIVE! Lol! I almost ordered another slice just because. Ambiance was chill.I really enjoyed their pizza so I look forward to dropping by here for another slice!

Pizza + wine = perfect dinner plansVisited Napa for the weekend and this spot looked yummy and was close to our stay. I am so glad we gave this place a shot because the sauce was sooooo good. I'm a sucker for pizza sauce and the sauce from here was delicious (perfect sweet/tangy/savory balance), there's a nice crunch to the crust, add in perfectly crispy pepperoni and spicy jalapeños and it was a great pie. Also be mindful of slices because we thought the large size would be good but it was actually larger than expected. still has 8 slices but they are huge. We also grabbed the kale cesar salad and the kale itself was very fresh looking and crunchy, just a little disappointed in the salad dressing- it wasn't as flavorful as we thought it would be but it's definitely a personal preference miss for that one.We ordered to go, but the staff seemed very lively, helpful and friendly with pick up and to go needs. It wasn't too busy when we made our pick up but they have a good amount of seating from what it looks like and the twinkle lights provide a nice atmosphere making this a great lunch or dinner spot!

I'll give full marks for the vibe and feel of this family run place BUT we're talking food so that's what matters most - the flavors were decent but our pizza base was undercooked while the sides were crisp - they mentioned Calabrian chillies on the menu but it actually is a sauce - there were in all maybe 2 basil leaves on our almost 2sq ft large Margharita pizza. Maybe you'd get lucky on another day where more of the family is cooking and you get better quality..

The short version: Go get yourself a frozen pizza for $7 at Safeway and skip this place. Or, if you aren't set on pizza, there's a fantastic restaurant called Hacienda right next door! The long version: I was really excited to try a new, local, pizza place but honestly, that excitement faded rather quickly upon eating the pizza.I will give them credit for the pepperoni being cooked the perfect amount, but the rest of the pizza was very bland and basic AF. The crust, in particular, was like cardboard - very expensive cardboard - and definitely needs improvement. We ordered a large pepperoni pizza which came out to $27. They charge $2 per topping so it adds up quickly. IMO the first topping should be free. Meh pizza would be OK if it was cheap, but at this price point, we will neither return nor recommend this place. They also apparently service slices, but at $10/each, no thanks. You can get better pizza at a better price at pretty much any chain pizza place, and that's a total bummer. The two stars I did give are for my online order being ready on time and the employee at the order/pickup counter being friendly enough.

This is my second review of Rutherford Family Pizza. As before, this is the best New York style pizza in Napa. The crust is thin, the sauce is very good, the pepperoni is high quality, the cheese is good and there's not too much of it. The New York style pizzas come out of a regular pizza oven and you can buy a whole pizza or by the slice. Slices offered are cheese, pepperoni, veggie and supreme. I would love to see them offer a chicken Parm slice but there is something for everyone. One slice is more than enough to feel pleasantly full. My son loves their wood-fired pizzas, which are not sold by the slice. I prefer the New York style but the wood-fired is also very good. The restaurant is family owned, very clean, and very popular with locals. Again, best New York style slice in Napa.

The staff is really friendly here. It really gives you a family feel. We ordered two pizzas, the Margherita and the meat lovers. The crust was thin but really good. My only complaint is that I feel like my pizza was given to someone else by mistake because there was a couple that came after us that got their pizza first (the Margherita) and it looked fresh. My pizza was not hot. It was warmish. Then when my husband got his pizza, it was scorching hot. You can tell it just came out of the oven. That's how I wanted mine. Also, they were very tight on the fresh basil. Besides that, everything was good.

I wanted so badly for this new pizza joint to hit the spot. Unfortunately, we probably won't be coming back.Aesthetic - 6/10Don't get me wrong, they did a lot with the tiny footprint their building has. The lights and the vibe are excellent UNTIL it gets busy, which it definitely does. The layout is really inconvenient for everyone involved. There are a lot of tables in a tiny space and all around the line to order so when you're sitting down to eat, people are hovering around you talking over you. Also, the spot to order is not clear whatsoever and no one makes eye contact with you unless you specifically walk to the bar and ask where to order. The staff - 6/10I LOVE that this is a family run business... With that being said, not every family member is likely cut out for the job. The young lady working the order/check out spot seemed very annoyed and was so quiet we could not understand anything she was telling us. We also waited an unusual amount of time for our salad (definitely was forgotten) and when we asked a young man about it, he seemed mortified and confused. Our order:- Pepperoni Pizza slice - HUGE... but the size was the only exciting thing about this pizza. To be honest, it tasted like any big box chain pizza would for way more expensive.- Cheese Slice - HUGE... but greasy and lacked a lot of flavor.- We were unable to order any Hawaiian or supreme slices which was pretty disappointing because we were watching those pizzas getting made for personalized order but not for slices.- Kale Caesar Salad - I cannot say this enough... I do NOT recommend ordering this salad. The kale is so tough and chewy, it needs to be massaged or a different type of kale chosen because it was hard to eat. The dressing was really good but there is only a sprinkling on the salad so we barely tasted any.Maybe if the reviews start to show that this place has changed then we will try it again... But for now, I hate to say this won't be on our list of pizza options.

Best pizza in Napa. There, I said it. Quality ingredients/toppings, great dough. Closest you're going to find to a NY Style in Napa. Most if not all local pizza places in Napa have pizza that is super doughy and have way too much cheese, and are under baked. RFP has consistently improved every time I've had it since they opened. They are my favorite in Napa now. Plus, they also serve slices in case you don't want to buy a whole pie. Can't recommend enough.
