Rocky's Hot Dog Stand

Everything about Rocky is admirable and I couldn't be more thankful for him being here.I hate myself more and more every day. Even as things in my life seem to constantly improve, I am getting worse. Rocky doesn't seem to notice this - he greets me as a friend and for a moment I feel normal and human. I have lived almost exclusively off of the tamales for years, except on weekends where I eat random debris from my apartment. Rocky's wife makes the tamales and she is always at the top of her game. Rocky loads up your tamale boat with a mountain of toppings and sends you off with what feels to me like a lunch filled with love and soul. I owe a lot to Rocky and his wife. The tamales are a great deal and fill you up. However, the emotional boost is priceless and you get that for free.I love seeing the birds around and the ferry coming and going. The little winged janitors clean up the crumbs daily and make me feel a glimmer of hope for our planet, even though I understand we are all certainly doomed in the near future.I hope other folks can find the reprieve I do when visiting Rocky and maintain their will to live on. It's an oxymoron to tell someone to TRY to be happy. It's hard to force it. If you need a jumpstart on this effort, visit Rocky.

Not from the area, but I was catering to a business down the street and my lunch time was creeping up. Went on Yelp to see food places around the area and Rocky's Hot Dog Stand was an option that popped up. Can't ever go wrong with a quick grab and go. Simple stand with a lot of different options! This is not like your Average stadium hotdogs that's small and overpriced. This is a bang for your buck. Gurthy 12" hotdog, bag of chip and a can of soda for $7! And he accepts card which is a plus!! Really recommend stopping by if you're in need of a quick grab and go or if you just want to grab a dog.

Just simple stand with both regular and polish dog selection. Make it a combo and get chip and a drink. He offers other snacks and candy along with some fruit cups. Good weather day to enjoy on the bay front

Rocky's Hot Dog has been around for years. just never saw him on weekdays at his regular spot. Best polish sausage ever! The mango and papaya was amazing! Highly recommend and will be back before I head home. Honorable mention- the pineapple sausage is a banger as well.

Best hotdog in Oakland, Ca with all the fixings. Rocky also has cheese, chicken and pork tamales along with a variety of cut up fruit, soda and chips . He's only here Monday to Friday till about 2:30 PM.I love this spot and can't get sick of it.

Lots of pricey dining options in Jack London Square, especially if you're grabbing work lunch in the area - but there are always bargains to be found! Rocky's is a great one - a hot dog cart near the USS Potomac loading area, with many types of hot dogs and sausages, plus a variety of sides (and some Mexican food options to boot!) I went with the classic beef hot dog combo, $5 per the menu but I was ultimately rung up at $6. Not sure why, it might have been me grabbing a Mexican Pepsi as my drink choice. A little bag of chips, and my hot dog topped with ketchup and cheese (you're damn right! Don't judge me!) made a yummy lunch - indulgent without being excessive. One of the best things about this dog was the hefty sesame seed bun, it really added a unique texture and flavor. And who doesn't love a steamed frank? Yumyumyumyumyum!Grab a dog and a drink, find an open bench, and enjoy an affordable lunch on the water! In a pricey area, Rocky's is a diamond in the rough.

Wouldn't even give one star, dogs are over cooked, bread is stall. I gave it to the pigeons they were even turning there heads sideways... the guy is very rude definitely wouldn't recommend this place

Rocky rocks! I never thought I'd be writing a review about a hot dog stand, but Rocky's is more then just that. Every day, he provides a variety of freshly cut fruit: Mangoes, Watermelon, Coconut and Mixed, seasoned with lime and chili on request. There is also hot links, chicken apple sausages, polish sausages and turkey sausages if you want to deviate from the standard dog. He also offers a plethora of drinks and junk food, but my favorite thing of all is the tamales. Freshly steamed pork, chicken or cheese tamales topped with Mexican sour cream, chopped tomatoes and onions, pickled jalapenos or made-in-house salsa verde (probably literally made at his house, lol). My normal $10 lunch is a huge portion of mangoes, one chicken and one cheese tamale.My only complaint is that the hours are a little inconsistent, but it's a one man show here so I cant be mad.

I work near by and couple times I just wanted a hot dog and saw that there is one near by. I drove around and could not find any parking. Maybe next time I will have to walk there to see. I was finally able to come and order a hot link hot dog. What is special about this hot do stand. It is a regular hotdog stand, but the owner puts the toppings for you and wraps the hotdog and puts it into a plastic bag so less contamination from the customers and any body passing by contaminating the toppings. That to me makes me want to come back. Never know who will contaminate the toppings that just sits beyond the view and reach of the vendor.
