This is a real dilemma. I always strive to be completely honest and open with my reviews without hurting the establishment. On this review I'm going to have to skew the review for the sole reason that there are actually a very limited number of venues that remain in the city of San Francisco in the Salsa, Reggaeton and other kinds of somewhat esoteric music generas. Nevertheless without crucifying the venue I will tell you the good and bad. To begin with I appreciate not having my genitourinary area checked for a hernia when I go into a place. I think I look reasonable enough to be able to clear security without a fear that I'm going to blow the place up. Kudos to security for not giving me a rectal while I am checked into this venue. The floor is sticky. Don't plan on spinning too much if you are an accomplished Salsa dancer unless you plan on straining your ligaments.OK the sound system wasn't great and there were engineering difficulties but some of this might've had to do with the band and other issues independent of the venue, so I'm gonna give them a pass on that. It wasn't terrible plus this band that played tonight was the kind of band you could probably power their music through a one watt system and some good speakers like Klipsch La Scala speakers and they would still blow it up, let's get that straight. This band Havana de Primera with Alexander Abreu is sick!!OK let's get to the inevitable, the restrooms. They need work. But there's a toilet, soap there's hot water and there's an air blower for your hands. There is a coat check & they charge $5/ item. And they actually don't let you put two items on a hanger. Yeah we traveled in from LA so it was $20. I was glad I brought a light sweater because it was nippy in San Francisco when we got out.Not sure if they have food. There is a VIP section but requires six people for a table. It is not directly in front of the stage it is set off to the left of the stage and slightly towards the middle. They made quick work of the line to get in and that's always appreciated.I did see some balcony seats that lined the perimeter wall on the second floor. I forgot how you get access to those. The manager who's name is Arturo is a real nice guy. I'm sure if you had any problem you could talk to him directly he was very available. Beers were nine dollars.Last but not least. Entrance for this event was $60 cash only per person. Quite expensive and they don't take credit cards.I would imagine that for just general events with other bands and dancing on the daily it's probably $10 entrance fee which is pretty standard. The late great Johnny Polanco used to play at this place. Those of you in the salsa world will know who this king is or was as it were.

This is THE worst venue I have been to for live music. I paid $80 to see Cultura Profética and while the band is great the sound was very bad. It was so disappointing. People were screaming "Fix the sound". They should provide partial refunds.

We had an excellent night of dancing to fun latin music and a live band. The crowd was a mixture of ages. Bring your dancing shoes. There was a helpful coat check for $5 and strong, reasonably priced drinks. Have fun!!

Not the fanciest, but who cares. I had fun. We need more places like this in SF. Wish they could fix the sound, though. The mic kept going out on the singer - that we paid $90 to see. Each. Gotta fix that sound folks!!

Well last night 12/13/19, was my first time at this place and not sure I'll be back. I give the concert, Freestyle Divas Tour, 5 star. Cynthia, Lissette Melendez and Sweet Sensation absolutely killed it with their performances. The reason for my 2 star rating is the actual venue. The floors are sticky, the restrooms are not very clean and drinks are so damn expensive, even by San Francisco's standards. On a brighter note, the soundsystem was ok. The are where the venue is located wasn't that sketchy as some previous reviews had stated.Again, I am not feeling Roccapulco at all. Maybe next time, freestyle promoters should consider holding concerts at a better venue like August Hall or the Warfield.

We bought tickets to see Cultura Profética and the sound system was absolutely terrible! We couldn't hear a thing and left the venue early. It was so unfortunate because we were really looking forward to watching this amazing band. I agree we deserve a partial refund!

Bought tickets to see Lunay and was notified the show was cancelled at the door. They let people who purchased tickets in for free but the vibe was not there that night :( waste of time.

Went to Roccapulco for the first time this past weekend to go see Oro Sólido. Band only played 40 minutes they charge $50 by 12:30 everyone was leaving. The DJ was not really entertaining at all and the sound system was awful . This place has no parking. It has no waiters/waitress to serve you (I think only the sitting VIP area, which was completely empty) too much wasted space with empty VIP area and no dance floor to dance. Will never go back again.

l had never been in Rocapulco before.l had heard that Rocapulco has many events, but l had never been inside until last night. A dear friend and l wanted to see Carlos Mejía Goboy; he is an singer from Nicaragua. We traveled from out of town, and we wanted to be there on time so we got there early. There were employees/ security at the door. One man in particular was so horrible, unnecessarily rude, and vulgar. He cursing unnecessarily, being horribly offensive to everyone. The doors were supposed had been open by 9:00 pm. but it was 10:40 and we were waiting outside. A gentleman came up to the front of the line after more than an hour of waiting and nicely asked the employee if his lady could used the ladies room. Nasty security man replied "tell her to her to squat and piss in the corner."Once inside, the place was soooooo disgusting. The bathrooms were full of garbage the floors, had urine everywhere, and had a horrible smell. l would never ever will ever go back, nor l will recommend any one to go. it's a horrible place, please do not go to Rocapulco. PLEASE DO NOT GO TO ROCCAPULCO IS A PIECE OF CRAP THE WORST. YELP NEEDS TO HAVE A ZERO STARS OPTION!

Went recently for a special event. Didn't even make it inside properly could already hear the management standing at the entrance scream at staff at full volume, expletive laden tirade. Then my group had to get patted down and scanned with a metal detector. Seriously?! There were 2, single stall restrooms for the entire venue resulting in long cues and long wait. Again, seriously?! Acoustics were horrible, lights stopped working halfway into the concert. Just catastrophically bad for a music venue. The only good thing was that the bartenders at the bar were nice and the service was prompt.
